//------------------------------// // Chapter One: Awakening of a Furious Dawn // Story: Abyss of the Watch // by Mr BHunt //------------------------------// Devrok's POV I groan and push myself off the grass, my eyes snap open and I stumble to my feet. I look around in awe at the colour, turning to take it all in. I look down to where I was lying and saw my sword planted in the ground, tied around it's hilt was Heysel's carving. I quickly grab it and tie it around my neck, I pull my sword out of the ground. I flick it to the side and dirt flies off, then I rest it on my shoulder. I look around and notice a small cottage by some large woods, I jog towards it and move my sword to my side. I slow as I approach and notice how small it is, I lean down and gently tap the small door a couple of times. I hear movement from within the house, along with the sounds of a lot of animals. Fluttershy's POV I hear knocking on my door and look up from feeding my critters. Who could that be? I ask myself and move past my little friends, Angel followed beside me. I pat him on the head with a smile, then I opened the door. I poked my head out a bumped my nose on something hard, I rubbed my nose and looked at what I bumped into. It was a leg, a long leg with a bit of metal on it's knee. I looked up in confusion, a hulking monster with a huge sword stared down at me. I yelped then promptly fainted. Devrok's POV I blink as a little horse, this time a yellow one, made a little noise and fainted. I gently picked up the horse and walking into it's home, a hundred animals looked up at me. I ignored them and walked over to a small couch, then I slowly put the horse onto it. A little rabbit hopped onto the couch and looked at the horse, then at me with an angry expression. But I just turned and walked out of the cottage, but I did pull out a bit of Swordgrass and whispered a few words. I placed it on a small table near the door and left, my eyes locked onto a nearby village. But as I moved towards the village, an out of place colour caught my eye. I turned and spotted the head of an even smaller horse, but it quickly ducked out of view into a bush. I slowly walked over and saw that the bush was shaking, then I threw my hand in and pulled out the tiny horse. It was yellow and for some reason it had a red bow on it's head, it struggled in my grasp and I placed it on the ground. It looked at me with wide eyes and I stared back, it shock it's head and bolted towards the village. I watch it go, soon following after it. I watch as Heysel shoots her sorcery at a tree, it was more developed now and caused the tree to creak. Heysel was now a young woman, but that didn't make her less dangerous. I clap and she grins and does a little bow, but then suddenly I notice a noise screaming towards us. I spun around just as a ball of fire flew past my face, I heard as scream and my heart stopped. I turned around and saw Heysel holding her face, time seamed to slow as I saw little Heysel cry as she looked up. Her face was scorched and charred, my vision turned red as I turned around. I saw a man in rags standing by a tree, his hand was flaming. I roared as I charged him, my sword flaming above my head. The man fell back and I leapt up above him, my bellowing roar not stopping. I slammed my through the man's face, over and over again. Blood splattered everywhere as I kept smashing his face with my greatsword. "Devrok!" I hear a voice yell, yet it sounded so far away. I kept slamming my sword into the man, moving my sword down his chest. "Devrok! Devrok, stop!" I feel arms grab me as I lift my sword up, I let a wolf-like growl escape my throat as I fight off the arms. "Heysel? Sweat, sweat Heysel." I hear the Head Acolyte say and I stop struggling, I stand up and slowly walk towards him and Heysel. One of my brothers try and push me back, but I pick him up and toss him aside. I collapse besides the Head Acolyte and look at Heysel, half her face was burnt and tears were streaming from her one good eye. I pull out a bandage from one of my pouches and then I pull out a small golden flask, I pour it on the bandage and wrapped it around Heysel's injured face. "Devrok, it wasn't your fault." I hear my brother say, I just shake my head and shove him back. I look up quickly and tighten my grip on my sword, my eyes wide and glowing. I snap my gaze to a blue horse picking flowers, I growl and walk towards it. It looks up at me just as I roar as I slam my sword down on top of it, it screams and throws itself out of the way. I drag my sword through the ground and then fling it out, causing the horse to yell as my sword cuts it's cheek. I spin around on my dagger and try to cut it's legs, but it used it's wings to throw itself upwards. I drop my sword just as my eyes lose their red glow, then I collapse holding my head. I hear the horse drop down, I just ignore it and pick my sword up. I quickly stand and walk past the horse, my head low. But I did catch it's eye, it looked concerned and terrified. I sheathed my sword and dagger, then I noticed that yellow horse. It was walking out of it's cottage, it's eye scanning and stopping on me. I turn and walk away from the village, towards the forest. As I approach the cottage, the yellow winged horse hides behind the doorframe. I stop and look at the horse's face, it almost reminds me of Heysel. I sofen my stare and turn back to the forest, a single tear folls down my face. I walk a bit into the forest, but not enough to be out of sight of the cottage. I turned and planted my sword into the ground near the foot of a tree, then I sat down and leaned against the tree. I saw the yellow horse look at me, then it went back inside it's home. I looked down and tore a hunk of wood from a fallen tree, then I pulled my dagger out and started to cut off bits of it. I continued this till I had a smaller bit of wood. I was so distracted in my work, that when I looked up I didn't expect to see the yellow horse. It was watching my hands and was still doing so, I kept cutting till I had the shape of a wolf's head and tail. Then I flipped my dagger around and started to carve in it's details, I looked at the horse who was leaning a bit closer. I stop carving and flipped it over with a close eye, then I placed it in front of me. Then I stuck my dagger into the fallen tree and crossed my arms, my attention fully on the horse. It still didn't notice my gaze as it picked up my work and turned it around, it had a smile on it's face. "It's beautiful." The horse says and I jump slightly, I really didn't expect that... horse to... talk oh no... "I attacked an innocent creature." I sigh and the horse jumps, flinging my work into the air. I snatch it out of the air and place it back on the ground, the horse looks very scared. I just sigh again and lower my helmet to cover my eyes, then I folded my arms again and soon drifted to sleep. "I better get Twilight, I have no idea what this creature is." I hear just as my mind drifts. "SISTER THOU BROUGHT A CREATURE FROM ANOTHER WORLD?!" Luna roars at Celestia, who just sighs as Luna fumes. "Yes, Lulu, I did and for good reason." Celestia says and Luna huffs. "It would never find peace in it's own world, it'd never stop fighting. Now that it's here, we can show it friendship and give it peace!" She says and Luna's eyes widen, "B-but you forcefully dragged a resident of another world here? One that has known war doesn't easily forget that, Tia." Luna states and Celestia huffs. "Sister, this creature does not know friendship! It's a warrior! One that attacked you, unprovoked!" Luna yells and Celestia timidity puts her hoof up. "I did scare him... and overreact by slamming him into a wall, many times." Celestia says and Luna facehoofs. "Well what are we going to do?" She asks and Celestia looks at Canterlot. "I... I have confidence that Twilight and her friends can help this poor soul." Celestia says as Devrok snores softly, his dreams fulled with rage and fire.
