//------------------------------// // Where it all began (Prologue) // Story: An Unlikely Ally // by TheGreatScot //------------------------------// 2016 Common Pony Era Our story begins with the mighty Princess Celestia sitting on her royal throne. Celestia was eating her favorite chocolate cake with strawberry frosting. She has been thinking for some time now, about some minor subject that will need taking care at a later point, the 201st Equestria Summer Games. She, as the princess, has the option to pick where the Equestria Games will be played. According to recent qualifiers, the top four cities that were chosen to host the games were, Ponyville, Cloudsdale, Manehattan, and Manechester. She had some exemplary choices to pick from, Manechester was a booming city for the Scarlet Premier League and Manechester United for they had taken 1st place from Griffinpool. Cloudsdale was known for the World Racing Qualifiers in which Cloudsdale took 1st place led by Rainbow Dash, Manehattan for their love for Hoofball, they recently won the HFC title and are on to the finals, and Ponyville for their nationwide Rodeos led by Applejack. She had evaluated each and every city and has narrowed it down to Manechester, it was their first time ever hosting an Equestria games, so she thought it's their time to shine. As she climbed up to her hooves, a Pegasus guard came screaming in to alert the princess. This guard has run from the Crystal Empire all the way to Canterlot, his two front legs and face inhabited several cuts that were still gushing with blood and bruises that were the size of the Princess' horn. He had clearly broken his two wings during his run or whatever he was running from. As he came to a halt in the throne room, both sets of legs started to shake for he had run almost an eternity. "Your highness there has been a breach in defenses all along our northern border!" the young tired guard said, "My, whatever do you mean," the princess said in stress, "I have not received any new information from the north. Why bring me this news?" The guard replied, "that's just it, your highness, the Crystal Empire has been occupied." He was slowly fainting because of his pain and his weakness. "Who....." Celestia tried to reply, but the guard interrupted her just before she got a voice. "Sombra and the Changelings have returned." He said. Once Celestia heard him, his weak body slammed against the hard tiled floor, signaling the amount of grave distraught that has been delivered to the quiet marble room. For a short amount of time, he laid there as a tiny pool of blood surrounded his legs. Her majesty was forced to watch him as the guards carried him to the medical wing of the castle. As this happened, her eyes opened wide, and her jaw dropped with this catastrophic moment. Not even ten seconds later, she couldn't withstand the amount of shock she was in and caused her to drop to the floor, passed out, out cold, many more guards came in and called for a nurse or doctor. Then, she was carried away by the other nurses and guards that were patrolling that corridor when the weakened guard was carried out. Just like any other government, Princess Luna heard the news and, luckily, didn't faint. She was forced to take her sister's position for she was the backup princess to Celestia. In an instant, she started to write a letter to her own third in command, for she had more magical capabilities then Princess Cadence and she was in trouble. She had started writing her letter to Princess Twilight Sparkle. Her letter went something like this: Twilight Sparkle, There has been a crisis that could potentially destroy Equestria as we know it. You are needed here immediately. Sincerely, Princess Luna Within five seconds of sending the letter, Twilight appeared within a blink of an eye. Breathing in heavily as she began to start talking. "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, What's happening? Is Celestia dead? Did something happen to Shining Armour? Oooooooh, Shining what did you d-?" As Twilight was speaking faster than Pinkie Pie has ever spoken, she was quickly silenced by Luna "Shhhhh," Luna quickly stated, "I do not know much about what happened, but what I do know is that we are in a worse situation than which the elements can help us." Finally calming down Twilight to an acceptable level of noise. Princess Luna sighed and rubbed her hooves lightly against her closed eyelids as she and Twilight stood on the marble tile floor that had just been polished. As she moved her head to position her eyes towards Twilight, she observed that the newly polished floor had an imprint of Celestia's fainted body and another imprint of a body but it was smaller and had a pool of blood, and a streak of blood coming from the door and then turning into little drops of blood getting smaller and smaller and gets more and more apart as the blood comes closer to the door. "Twilight, we are in a huge mess of a pickle currently," Luna stated trying to keep Twilight calm, "from my understanding," she pauses as she sighs at the news she has to give, "King Sombra has allied with Queen Chrysalis and have taken the majority of our northern border, sadly that includes the Crystal Empire and the land around the city," Luna said gravely as Twilight broke out into tears, "for all I know, that also means, that the status of Princess Cadence, Shining Armour, and Flurry Heart is on hiatus, or as the military puts it, MIA." Twilight sat on the carpet that separated two sides of the polished floor. Weeping in sadness that her, and I quote, "Big BBBFF" and her favorite former foal sitter was missing or potentially dead. As Twilight weeps for her possible losses, Luna embraces Twilight in a hug and wipes the tears off of her face with a magically levitated handkerchief. Immediately wanting to take action, Twilight pops up off of her hooves and willing to do anything she says "I'm am ready to do whatever it takes to get Cadence and Shining Armour back!" "Splendid news Twilight, but first things first, we need a military, and more importantly people to lead that military," Luna says with what little pride and courage she has left in her, "what we need is a leader, and it can't be any of us princesses for if one of us dies, we risk having no one left to rule." "Don't worry princess, I have a few friends ready to lead." Twilight ecstatically announced with the courage of a lion. Luna sadly has to interrupt her courageous display for there is a huge problem. "Twilight, what you don't understand is that we have three branches for this type of war," Luna exclaims, she, however, has a point for the land they are fighting for has no water in sight. "There are only three branches of our military that we can use," she stopped briefly to breathe,"There is the Air Force, with the pegasus, we know whom of your friends will be leading that." Twilight interrupts briefly and says, "Rainbow Dash." "That is correct," Luna replies, "Then, there is the Marine Corps, that will be lead by Applejack, she has the capacity to lead others, lift imposing objects and breathe underwater for a long amount of time with her stamina," Luna says with more pride than the last minute, but then immediately drops for on specific reason. "Lastly, there is the Army, our biggest branch of service, we would put Pinkie there but, you know how that would go. So we need someone who is qualified enough to be a leader, knows how to be pressured in a crisis and can stand on the frontlines and says, come and get me!" Luna raised her voice for that last line. There isn't any known pony who inhabit such leadership and bravery. Then, as the word any known pony are said, she gets an idea. An idea so risky that it could lead to disaster but it's the best shot of winning this war. "How about we get somepony from," Twilight stopped suddenly, "*gulp* that planet?" Twilight was referring to the planet Earth where no horse like entity ruled any other organism other than themselves. Luna stopped to think, was she out of her mind! What kind of pony would bring that idea to this place! Then she thought about the pros, wait, she thought, this could work. Then she immediately asked Twilight, "It could work, but who would want to help us who is also in an army branch division?" Luna inquired. Twilight quickly responded with, "I know someone who could help us." "Okay then," Luna commandingly said, "do it." *swhoom* *schwiss* *crack crack* Noises filled the room as Twilight began a dangerous spell that she hasn't done in years. *poof* As the purple smoke clears, there is a human, an American soldier more specifically, unconsciously laying on the carpet. As he wakes up he knew he wasn't on Earth anymore.
