//------------------------------// // Remembrance // Story: Memories of The Amulet // by SprocketProductions //------------------------------// I saw a small spec of light in the distance, it was light blue. I couldn't move, and all around me was pitch black, as if everything were simply nonexistent. Suddenly, the light got closer until I saw that it was a double helix shaped silver amulet with a blue crystal sphere inside. the wearer was illuminated by the glow, and nothing else. The stallion appeared to be an alicorn with a grizzled face. His wings were ruffled and many feathers were visibly missing. I noticed a long scar on the right side of his neck. His fur was tan and his mane ant tail bark brown. His eyes were red-ish brown with a burning anger. I felt like he was looking straight at me, starring straight into my soul. I tried to recoil, but still being frozen, all I could do was stand there and look at him as he slowly walked up to me. "Unlike you, I didn't forget." He said in a deep, rough voice with a slight Southern accent. Just then, I shot up from the bed, breathing heavily. I could feel my heavy and quick heartbeat without even putting a hoof on my chest. I wiped tears that had fallen from my eyes and began to start controlling my breathing. Metalwing sat up and put a gentle hoof on my shoulder, "Are you okay, Sprocket?" I nodded, unable to bring myself to speak yet. "What happened?" He asked. I cleared my throat, "I had another nightmare about that stallion, and this time he talked to me..." "This is bad..." said my husband as he pulled me from the bed and carried me outside, flying me in the direction of Canterlot. It was still early in the morning, Princess Celestia was still raising the sun. I looked down at the houses we passed over and felt the quick air brushing against my fur. I looked forward and saw Canterlot getting closer and closer by the minute. Metalwing was certainly intent on getting me there as soon as possible. Perhaps it was about my memories, or my dreams. I hoped it was about both, as I was concerned about both. I didn't understand the situation at hand and didn't understand much about the world, likely due to my amnesia, and that frustrated me. Within an hour, Metalwing set me down in the streets of Canterlot, before we had gotten ready. I would've been embarrassed had there been anypony around to see us. Metalwing used a calm fasad, "follow me." I stayed with him as we walked down several streets and took many turns. I had trouble remembering any of it because I didn't know much at all about the city, but I took note of some of the heavily damaged buildings. I had heard ponies talking about a large magical mech making its way through the city, and figured it was due to that. We eventually made our way to the castle and found a wizard who had been assigned to help get my memories back. We had done a few exercises and he had tried a memory spell before, but I never got more than a few flashes from our visits. Metalwing told him about my dream and his eyes widened. Moon Beam ran out of the library, declaring he was going to get Princess Luna. I didn't recall ever meeting Luna before, and I was honestly excited to. The only princess I had talked with personally was Twilight Sparkle and that was simply because we lived in the same small town. Before long, a dark blue, tall alicorn walked into the library, "Somepony requested me?" "Yes, Princess..." I squeaked out, taking note of the other wizards in the library stopping what they were doing to come and see what the princess was here for. Luna looked at me surprised, "You. Have you made new progress on your memories?" "Well I-" Moon Beam cut me off. The wizard explained, "She had a dream about Killer. He was wearing the amulet, and he spoke to her." "Spoke to you? What did he say?" She asked me. I told her, "He said that he didn't forget." Luna's expression darkened. She was clearly thinking of what was going to happen. I looked at Metalwing who flashed me a worried expression. I didn't know what was wrong, I didn't know who Killer was. I didn't even know that the amulet or my dreams were actually real. Some of the wizards started to chatter to each other quietly. Discussion became debate, and debate became argument. The sound of angered ponies flooded the library and began to overwhelm me. "Somepony just tell me what's happening!" I shouted as the room fell silent. Luna and Metalwing exchanged looks. The wizards gazed at me with shocked expressions. A sense of unease lingered in the air. I had finally gotten the point across that I remembered nothing. Luna sighed, "We cannot talk here. Let us go to my room inside the castle." Metalwing, Moon Beam, and I followed Luna out of the library, into the main building of the castle and down a corridor. This felt familiar, like I had been here before. I paused and looked around for a moment. I received a sudden flash, one of Metalwing in a set of Canterlot guard armor, the same set that was set up in our house, only less tarnished. In the memory I was flirting with him. It must've been when we had just met. I felt a whole new weight on our relationship. "Sprocket? Are you alright?" I looked up at Metalwing who had put a hoof on my shoulder and his long, soft wings around me. I started to tear up as I hugged him tightly, "I love you, Metalwing." "I-I love you too, Sprocket." He stuttered as he returned the hug. We were in Luna's room a few minutes later. She closed the window and Moon Beam locked the door, making sure nopony was listening. Luna looked at me, "You are not safe, Sprocket." "You weren't born in this universe, but you earned your way here. Unfortunately, you came with an easy to lose magical artifact." Metalwing stated as an image of the amulet flashed through my mind. Luna spoke up again, "This easy to lose artifact made it into the wrong hooves. I believe the stallion you saw in your dream is the one with current possession of it." "So the amulet he was wearing was actually mine?" I asked. The princess nodded, "And I theorize that the amulet is also the key to your memories. Find it, and you'll remember your life again." With that, Metalwing and I were rushed out of the castle and sent back home. We obviously had work to do, and I had no idea where to start, but with Metalwing by my side, I was sure I wouldn't fail.
