//------------------------------// // Revelations and a Helping Hand // Story: Adrenaline // by I-couldnt-think-of-anything-clever //------------------------------// It was a few hours after dinner; I was lying in my bed, my mind being plagued with my thoughts from before. The dinner was mostly quiet, not an awkward one though, but understanding. Fluttershy probably noticed that I was under some mental stress, and decided to let me work it out by myself. As we were walking upstairs to go to bed, I whispered a “thank you” to her before I went into my room. I threw off my day clothing and sluggishly pulled on my pjs. I lobbed myself onto the bed and immediately started staring at the ceiling, my mind being flooded by thoughts, and the reality of my situation finally began to set in. I may never go back, what if I do, should I stay, go, can I visit, keep it a secret, bring my friends with me. At this point in time I was thinking as fast a Pinkie could talk. I couldn’t take it. I needed to get fresh air. I grabbed my sneakers and quietly moved down the stairs and out the front door. As soon as the door was shut I hopped on my bike and started riding. I didn’t know where I was going or what was going to happen next. I just kept going as fast as I could. Before I knew it, I was on a large hill overlooking Sweet Apple Acres. I was finally out of breath, so I decided to just sit there. I lied down and rubbed my hands up and down my face. As I lay there, trying to full comprehend everything, since I was hit by the reality of it like a train. Suddenly, I heard footsteps coming up the hill. I stood up quickly to see who it was. Rainbow Dash was walking towards me with a grin. “Bit late for a bike ride, dontcha think?” “What are you doing awake?” “I could ask you the same question” I slouched back down again this time just barely sitting up. I looked up at the sky. “I just, it just hit me that I may never see my family or friends ever again, and it kinda sucks” “I think I know what you mean” she sat down beside me. “I left all my family and friends back in Cloudsdale when I came here” “I guess, but this is a bit different, I don’t even know how I got here, and where home is in relation to here” “True, but hey, don’t give up hope just yet, you got here, so there has to be a way back. Until then we’ll keep you calm and comfortable” “But that’s another thing I’m afraid of, I’m already growing fond of this place, it lacks the greed and corruption of my world. And if I become too comfortable, when the time comes, will I be able to leave” She sat with a look of concentration. “I see what you mean. Well, do you want us to make this place bad so it’ll be easier to leave?” I smirked, trying to stifle a laugh. I stood up. “Oh man, you just helped in the worst of ways” She followed my lead and gave me a pat on the back. “There is no point in worrying about situations that haven’t happened yet, or might not even happen” “You’re right, thanks for the help” “I do what I can, come on, lets get you back to Fluttershy’s house” We started walking down the hill; I grabbed my bike as we passed it. “That would be good, I got a job and it starts in the morning” “Congrats, where? I want to visit ya” “The music store in town” “Nice, I’ll stop by around lunch, sounds good?” “Very” She took a glance at my bike. “So how fast can you go on that thing?” “Pretty fast” “Show me” She opened her wings and lifted herself to a stable hover as I mounted the bike and got ready. When I was, I looked to her and asked “You ready?” “Show me what you got” I had the bike adjusted to a lower gear, so when I started, I launched down the hill, clicking up the gears as I sped up. As I looked back, a look of slight shock was on Dash’s face, and then she shook it off and raced after me. I looked forward again to concentrate on what was in front of me. The feeling of the wind rushing past me was exhilarating. Just as I felt my speed was about to red line, I felt a poke at the top of my head. To my surprise, it was Dash, looming just overhead, with a cocky grin on her face. That is what gave me the boost to go faster. I hit the paddle shifters one more time to kick it to the highest gear just as the cottage was coming into sight, about 800 meters out. At this moment, as I began to slowly out-speed Dash, I wish I had a speedometer, but concentrated and kept going. But before I knew it, with a huge push of energy, Dash zoomed past me and was waiting outside the cottage. I slammed on the breaks and swerved into a small burning, looking very movie-esq. I was about 3 feet from hitting her. “Not bad…I’m actually impressed” she managed to say in between pants of exhaustion. “Thanks…that’s the fastest…I’ve ever gone…on that thing” “There’s…a reason… I’m the fastest around…but you… just gave me a run…for my money” “Hehe, good…holding a title…is no fun…unless you get the chance…to defend it” “I never… saw it…like that” We finally managed to fully recover. I managed to speak up first. “Well, I’m gonna head to sleep now” “Me too, hopefully you left me with enough energy to fly home, haha” “You’ll be fine, haha, good night” “G’night Allen” I opened the door cautiously as she began to fly away. I turned around for a second. “Wait, one more thing” I called to her. “She turned around as I got her attention. “Huh, what’s up?” She asked with a questioning look. “Thanks again, for the help, it means a lot” “No problem, Ill see you tomorrow” I snuck back inside and Dash continued to fly away. I crawled back into bed, falling asleep almost instantly, with a peaceful smile on my face, and a new calm mind, I was ready for anything that the next day would throw at me, or so I thought.
