"Wow! This place is quite big."
"I agree, Luigi."
The teenage brothers looked around and admired the inside of the building. It was really quaint for them, but they're almost used to going to fancy like places during their adventures. Like going to beautiful castles, the Observatory in space, and many more.
Mario was the first to move and Luigi did the same. While the red plumber was still looking at the architecture, his brother quickly ran towards the glass display on the wall. "Hey, Mario. I think I found something."
Mario quickly ran to his brother and saw the glass display. There were trophies, certificates, and some pictures of this place. There was also a banner on the top of the items and said '!!GO WONDERCOLTS!!'.
"What do you think we are, bro?", asked Luigi.
"I'm still not sure. We should keep looking around." Mario and Luigi strolled in the hallways. They walked past some lockers and some rooms where students were taking a lecture from their respective teachers. After a bit of looking, the young plumbers slowed down for a bit and then processed their predicament.
Luigi turned to his brother. "Hey, Mario. Does this place looks like some sort of school to you?" Mario crossed his arms and nodded.
"You know what? I'm thinking the exact same thing, Luigi." Mario put his hand in his chin. "We just need to look natural. We can't look like we don't belong in this place. Or this world for that matter."
Luigi scratched his head in confusion. "But how are we gonna do that? We aren't students here."
"Excuse me. Why are you two not in class?" a voice appeared.
The bros winced a bit when they heard that voice, especially Luigi. Mario turned around slowly and saw a woman. She was a dark blue lady with her hair that reaches almost to her waist. Her attire is a pinkish purple blouse with a collar that has a black crescent moon on it. She was also wearing black pants and white shoes and her arms were crossed to her chest. She had a firm look that made the brothers uncomfortable.
"Well?"
The Marios are in a bit of a pickle. At least they know that there are in a school but the stern look the lady has right now is making Mario a bit nervous and Luigi scared.
"Um uh err... well you see..uh.. its because we're... uh"
"We're actually new here, mam.", Mario finished before Luigi could stammer some more. This gave Mario an idea.
"Really now? This is your first time here?" asked the lady. Mario and Luigi nodded, hoping that she bought the excuse.
"Hmm. I don't believe I recognize both of you." Luna eyed them carefully. "But if that is the case, I'm Vice Principal Luna. It's a pleasure to meet you boys." She gave her hand to Mario and the red plumber shook it.
"It's nice to meet you, Vice Principle Luna." Then gave her hand to Luigi, but the green teenager was a bit hesitant to hold and shake her hand.
"Um err...hi.", Luigi shyly accepted her hand and shook it slowly. Luna couldn't help but give a small chuckle of the young man's reaction.
"Hmm hmm. You certainly remind me of one our students. Anyway, please follow me to the principal's office. I'm sure Principle Celestia and I will help you with this matter.", said the dark haired woman.
The young plumbers followed Luna through the hallways. Mario got close to Luigi and began to whisper. "Luigi. I think I know how we can blend in." He whispered his plan quickly and Luigi was a bit unsure. However, if there's one thing he learned from his adventures is that he shouldn't doubt his big bro. Even in complicated situations.
'Mamma mia! I hope this works.', Luigi thought in his head.
'Alright. We gotta be convincing. Though it looks like we're going have to finish school....again.', Mario sighed, though he remained calm.
PRINCIPAL OFFICE
Luna and the brothers stopped in front of the door with the word 'OFFICE' in front.
"Sister, do you have a moment?", said Luna.
"Yes, Luna?"
Mario and Luigi entered the room cautiously and saw a woman standing while looking at the calendar. She has a pale skin with her hair that was a light rainbow that almost reached her waist. Her attire was a white and purple stripes shirt with a sun insignia on her left side, her pants were cherry and was wearing yellow heels. She turned around saw the brothers stand still in front of her desk.
"I found these two boys in the hallway and have told me that they are new here." Vice Principle Luna explained.
"Is that so?" Celestia walked to her desk and took her seat. "Nice to meet both of you. I'm Principal Celestia and welcome to Canterlot High.", she greeted with a welcoming tone.
Mario was the first to accept her greeting. "Thank you, mam. My name is Mario and this is my twin brother."
"Hi, I'm Luigi.", said the green teenager again shyly.
"So what can we help you boys?" asked Celestia with Luna beside her sibling.
Luigi glanced at Mario, motioning him that he should do the talking. Mario cleared his throat. "We're just wondering if there is a chance that we can enroll here in Canterlot High.",answered Mario. Luigi nodded in agreement.
"Really?" asked Celestia. "Well, the school year barely started..." the principle held her chin for a bit.
"Where are your parents or guardians? ", asked the vice principal. Luigi took a small gulp in his throat and Mario had a small sweat in his head. The brothers didn't thought of having a parent or a guardian with them. Their earliest memory of school in the Mushroom Kingdom as kids is that of Toadsworth always doing the paperwork of them being enrolled. Luigi took a quick glance at Mario.
'Come on, bro. Think of something.' he thought in panic.
"Well, our guardian is out of town but he is aware of us being here in Canterlot High." Mario explained. Luigi raised his eyebrow a bit of their 'guardian' issue. But he shrugged it off and wanted to go through this quickly.
Celestia thought about it and looked at the brothers. She remembered the time when Luna and herself attended high school for the first time. To her, the boys were a reflection of the grown adults.
"What do you think, sister?" asked Luna. "Should we let them attend here?"
"I don't see why not." Celestia approved and turned to the brothers. "Though you may have fill the information of your guardian so that you can be enrolled. Let me get your paperwork." She got up and went the file cabinet and grabbed the papers. She gave it to the brothers and they started signing with Luigi copying what Mario is writing.
Meanwhile, Celestia and Luna had a small trip to memory lane in their minds as the brothers almost were about done with their papers.
'My my. It has been awhile. I still don't remember who was my principal.', thought Celestia.
'Goodness me. How long has it been since I graduated high school.', thought Luna in her own mind.
As the brothers finished, Celestia took their papers and gave it to Luna who stored them in a file. Celestia then shook both of their hands. "Very well, Mario and Luigi, here are your schedules for today's day. If you need anything, my office is always open."
"Thanks for the help, Principle Celestia." Mario waved his hand.
"Uh yeah. Thanks". Luigi did as well, albeit in a shy manner. The boys exited the room and Celestia and Luna looked at each other.
"You know, Luna. I remember when we first attended high school and you had the same reaction just like young Luigi.", teased Celestia.
"Oh stop it, Tia. I wasn't that timid.", pouted Luna. Celestia smirked at her pout.
THE SCHOOL HALLWAYS
As the brothers left the principle office, Luigi rubbed his head with the 'guardian' issue. Mario looked at him and knew what he was on about.
"Mario..." Luigi began.
"Look, Luigi. I know how..."
"You put Toadsworth as our guardian?" Luigi asked.
"I know, I know. I shouldn't have lied." Mario felt guilty because he didn't like to lie to people. "But I'd rather not let them know where we're really from. I just hope they bought it."
"You and me both, Mario. It was getting a bit dicey.", Luigi sighed with relief.
Mario changed his attention and looked at his list of classes. The red plumber was quite intrigued with what he has while Luigi was a bit uncomfortable attending school. Its not that he doesn't like it, but he was always been pushed around by other students back in their childhood. But Mario always protected him from anything that would harm him. Hey, brotherly love right?
"Mario, does this bring you memories?", asked Luigi.
"You mean when I lost my cap and I ended up running around the school only to be found in Yoshi's head?", chuckled Mario.
"Speaking of Yoshi, you think all of our friends know that we're gone? I mean we don't know how are we going to get back home." He looked at Mario, waiting for an answer.
The red hero just thought about what he said. Sure, Bowser may have gotten rid of the Mario Brothers, but there will always be heroes in the Mushroom Kingdom to stop Bowser. Like Yoshi, Toad, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Goombella, Toadette, and maybe Wario and Waluigi. Granted, they helped Bowser on some occasions but they also know that they have helped them in worst scenarios. Mario finally spoke. "I don't think we're going back, bro.
As much as I hate to admit, I'm afraid we may have to settle here and make a new life."
Luigi was saddened of Mario's words. But before he could argue, Mario finished his sentence. "But at least we got each other's backs. Right, Luigi?", cheered Mario as he gave a thumbs up.
Luigi wiped a tear in his eye and copied his brother's action. "Right, Mario."
Later, the brothers finally found their lockers and opened their doors. Luigi's attitude changed a bit when hearing what Mario said. When he closed the locker, a pink girl was right next to him right in his face.
"Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie."
"WAAAGH!", Luigi screamed and hid behind Mario.
"Hey Luigi, what happened?, asked the plumber.
Luigi pointed to the person and Mario looked. He saw a pink-skinned girl with a hot pink poofy hair.
"Oopsie, I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to welcome you boys to Canterlot High, the best school ever." She finished with a glee and a big smile.
Mario appreciated the welcome. "Hello, Pinkie Pie. Its a me Mario, and this is Luigi."
Luigi slowly moved away from Mario and just said, "Hi, I'm Luigi. But please don't startle me like that."
"Okey dokey loky. By the way, are you guys making your way to the gym? Because that class is going to start soon."
Mario and Luigi looked at their schedule and there first class is indeed gym. The brothers were shocked that Pinkie Pie knew exactly what their schedule was.
"Wh..what!? How ..did you..?", Luigi stammered while Mario had the same reaction.
"Easy. Both of you have gym first but Mario has science class and music after lunch, while you, Luigi, have woodworking and math classes after lunch as well. So we'll meet each other again at lunch so you can meet the rest of my best friends.", finished Pinkie in rapid succession.
Again they looked at their schedules and she had exactly what they had. Luigi was stammering again and Mario looked at her in amazement. "Wow! How did you know all that?"
Pinkie Pie just smiled. "Oh, I just have a sense of things." With that, she skipped away and left the Mario Brothers bewildered.
"Mamma mia.", came out of the brothers' mouths.
RIIIING
The plumbers heard the bell and looked at their schedule.
"Hey Luigi, looks like we have to get to the gym." Mario quickly hurried with Luigi behind him. "Right behind you, Mario."
GYM CLASS
"Oh yeah. My favorite class in CHS. Nothing like some exercise to get your blood pumping.", said a cyan girl.
"I agree, Rainbow. But we haven't started class yet.", said the blue haired man. Rainbow Dash just gave a nervous chuckle and rubbed her head. "Heh heh, right. Sorry Flash, but I can't wait."
The doors opened and entered the Mario Brothers. They looked at the gym and were again impressed with the indoor court.
"Wow, Mario. We can play some basketball in here.", said Luigi.
Mario agreed. He sure like to play some sports.
"Oh hey. Your the new guys, right." Flash walked towards the brothers and gave out his hand. "Names Flash Sentry."
The Marios each shook his hand. "Hello, Flash. I'm Mario and this is Luigi."
Luigi fixed his hat and replied. "Hi, Flash."
Rainbow quickly moved to where the boys were at and gave a grin. "New huh? Well my name's Rainbow Dash. Best athlete in Canterlot High." She pointed her thumb to herself in a cocky manner.
"Alright, students. Pay attention."
The rest of the students, including the Marios, looked towards the coach. "For those who don't know me, I'm coach Spitfire. And I understand there is some new guys that are here in this class." She looked at Mario and Luigi with her shades.
"Today we are going to play a game of baseball outside. We're going to play for seven innings .So change to your gym clothes, get your bats, gloves and get moving." She then blew her whistle and everyone quickly went for their equipment. Rainbow gave a 'yes' as she went for her bat. Flash grabbed his glove and went towards the Marios. "Hey, are you guys good in baseball?"
"Good? You could say that.", said Luigi sheepishly.
Mario on the other hand was looking forward for some fun. "I sure enjoy some baseball."
"But wait, we don't have any gym clothes.", said Luigi.
Dash ran quickly to the brothers. "Relax. The school always have extra gym clothes. I'll let Coach Spitfire know." Rainbow Dash assured them. "Now come on, lets go!" The rest of the boys followed her outside to the field.
BASEBALL FIELD
The players were all in the field with their CHS gym attire. Mario and Luigi wore the same as the rest of the players but kept their signature caps.
"Okay. Rainbow Dash, pick your team. Flash, you're after her."
Rainbow looked at the students carefully and made her choices. Flash made his choices after Rainbow picked his team. Spitfire then tossed a coin to see which team bats first. "Heads. Flash's team goes first."
"Got it, coach Spitfire. Alright lets see... Mario, why don't you bat first. I'll go after you.", said Flash.
Mario nodded as he took the bat and started stretching while Rainbow took her place at the mount. 'So the red guy's going first. Let's see what he's got.'
Spitfire went behind the catcher and blew her whistle. "PLAY BALL"
Rainbow looked at Mario carefully and thought of her first pitch. 'I think I should go easy on him. I mean this is his first game, right?" She threw a fastball a bit to the right, but Mario didn't swing.
"BALL.", yelled Spitfire.
The catcher, which was Bulk Biceps, threw the ball back to Dash. She was a bit mentally surprised because most of the students swing for it. She tried a second time, this time a bit lower on the floor. Again, Mario didn't swung his bat. Dash decided to stop giving him free balls and threw a hard fastball to Mario. The red capped hero finally swung his bat and the ball went straight towards between third and second base. Mario quickly ran towards first and stayed their because one of the students threw the ball close to second.
"Wow, Luigi. Your brother sure knows when to swing.", Flash complimented.
Luigi accepted the comment and Flash went to the home plate. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash was surprised of Mario's hit. "Okay, looks like I was wrong. I can't underestimate him again." She then turned to Flash, ready for the pitch. She threw a fastball to Flash and he hit the ball. The hit was to the left field high in the air. The left fielder caught the ball in the air and Flash was out. While that happened, Mario stood at first and then ran quickly to second. The fielder threw the ball to second but Mario was already there.
"SAFE!"
Flash's team was cheering on the side of the seats. Dash had to think about what to do next because now that Mario is in second, they needed a double play. Up next, Derpy took the bat and got ready for the pitch. 'This is my chance.', thought the rainbow haired girl.
She threw the ball and Derpy swung. She hit the ball but not what she had in mind. The ball went straight to Rainbow and ,with quick reflexes, she caught the ball. Mario realized this and tried to get back to second but was too late. The second baseman caught it.
"YOUR OUT. CHANGE SIDES."
"Aw man, that hurts.", said Flash. Derpy walked to her bench to get her glove. "I don't know what went wrong." Mario patted her back and gave a smile. "Its okay. We'll get it next time."
Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash gave a sigh of relief. She rarely had these kind of situations before. "Phew, that was close. And this is just the first inning. Looks like we're gonna have to get serious. Right, Biceps?"
"YEAH! We're going to win!", shouted the big, muscle framed student.
"I like that spirit, big guy." Rainbow gave a thumbs up.
TEAM FLASH
"Are you sure you want to pitch, Luigi? I mean I'm always the one who does the pitching.", asked Flash.
Luigi grabbed the ball and went to the mount. "Don't worry, Flash. I can handle it."
Flash then went to second base and Mario was setting himself to be catcher.
Rainbow Dash stepped to the plate and took some practice swings then looked at Luigi who was tightening his glove. "So green guy is pitching, huh? Alright. Time to see what he's got."
Luigi looked closely at Mario as he was giving indicators of what throw he should do. He finally made his decision and started with a screwball. Dash swung but missed ball.
"STRIKE ONE"
Dash grunted a bit and then looked at Luigi again. 'Okay Rainbow. Its early in the game but you still have to be serious. Show them that you are best athlete here.' She took her stance again and Luigi was ready. He received instructions again from his brother and threw a changeup. Rainbow Dash swung her bat and missed again.
"STRIKE TWO"
Rainbow growled in frustration. She looked at Luigi again and he was in his pitching stance. "Come on, Rainbow. You got this. Luigi threw a fast ball but Rainbow Dash hit it successfully. The ball went towards the right field and the fielder grabbed it in the grass. While that happened, Rainbow Dash sprinted her way to second. The fielder threw the ball to second but Dash slid in just in time.
"SAFE"
Rainbow grinned and stood there while her teammates cheered. Next was Bon Bon and stood ready for the pitch. Receiving instructions from Mario again, he threw a changeup and Bon Bon missed.
"STRIKE"
"Come on, Bonny. You got this.", cheered her best friend, Lyra, from the dugout.
"Don't worry, Lyra. I'll hit this.", assured her friend.
"Lets go ,Bon Bon. Hit it to the sky.", joined Rainbow Dash.
Mario just had a quick thought to himself and gave a small smile. 'Wow. Dash sure is quite a leader with her teammates. No wonder she's captain.'
Luigi and Bon Bon took their stances and got ready. Luigi threw a fastball and Bon Bon made contact. The ball was headed close to center field. The fielder caught it on the ground and threw it quickly to third while Bon Bon stayed at first. Flash caught the ball but Rainbow slid her right foot beneath him on the plate.
"SAFE"
"Way to go, Bonny.", cheered Lyra on the bench.
"Nice one, Bon Bon. Okay, Biceps. Your next.", said Dash
"YEAH! Lets do this!"
When Bulk Biceps stepped to the plate, Mario was in awe of his size. He only knew one certain ape that has the height and strength of this student. "Mamma mia."
Luigi was getting a bit sweaty in his head. He now needed to be careful of this power hitter because one small throw could take this out of the park. "Ok, lets a go."
Luigi started thinking and made up his mind. He started for a fastball that was a bit faster than Rainbow's and Biceps swung his bat. To the Mario Brothers surprised, he hit the ball but his bat was broken. Nevertheless, the ball was actually going high in the air...although inside of the diamond field on top of first base.
Luigi was looking straight up in the air and put his glove in his face. He caught the ball then stood in first base with Bon Bon stuck in the middle between first and second. Then, as hard as he could, he threw it straight to third base and Flash caught it right before Dash could even step on it.
"TRIPLE PLAY. CHANGE SIDES"
Rainbow was amazed that one play got them out so quickly. 'Woah! That was awesome. Looks like those new guys sure know how to play.'
Flash walked to Luigi and gave a whistle. "Man, Luigi. You sure can throw .", he said while shaking his left hand. Luigi just rubbed his head. "Heh thanks, but you should see Mario how he throws."
Mario then joined the two and looked at the scoreboard. Second inning with no runs on each team. "This might be fun"
After a seven inning game of fast and hard hitting baseball, the game ended in a draw. Coach Spitfire was impressed of the game, especially the Marios. "Well well. Looks like you two can play ball after all." Mario and Luigi gave a high five to each other and both said thank you at the same time.
"Alright class. Get changed and head to the cafeteria lunch. Your dismissed."
With that, Rainbow Dash, Flash Sentry, and the Mario bros went together heading inside to the cafeteria.
"Phew, what a game!" , sighed Flash. He had never been so pushed before in baseball.
"I know right. Speaking of which, you brothers want to meet our friends during lunch?", asked Rainbow Dash.
Mario and Luigi looked at each other and both nodded. "Sure, Dash. We better get going because I'm starving.", said the red teen while his stomach grumbled.
Luigi just chuckled of his brother's stomach grumble. "Yeah. The more the merrier, bro."
