Peckish For Truth

The sun, the largest and brightest thing to Equestrians was just beginning to reveal itself, beginning a new day. A day where mares and stallions would go to work or school, spend time cleaning or simply lounge about. The capital of Equestria: Canterlot was no exception. It was a high-class state but that didn’t mean ponies didn’t have chores to complete and jobs to fulfill. Thankfully, Luna’s job was nearly over. To simple ponies, ‘raising the moon’ doesn’t sound like rocket science, but Luna of all ponies would know for a 100% fact that is literally the case. The effort and time in raising the moon are gigantic and it did a number on her sleep schedule. Usually forcing her to sleep through the whole day until it was time for her to raise the moon.
Sleeping through a whole day would mean Luna missed a lot of it’s happenings. Including missing out on Celestia’s projects and duties. Celestia; being the strongest of the two would be able to double task with keeping the sun risen and wandering about the palace whenever she chose while Luna was confined to stay atop her post so the moon could stay in place. Luna would miss out on Celestia’s activities on occasion but there were days where she’d catch her sister going about her business, however, every day she’s seen her Luna has noticed something unnerving. At first, the changes were subtle, simply overlooked details that required a studied glance. A fuller face, softer arms, and thighs but after a month the changes became visible. The muffin top, the increased arm fat, Celestia’s thighs were wider and she had developed pudgy cheeks.
But Luna disregarded the small change. Perhaps Celestia was simply going through some stressful times and she needed to stress eat. It’s normal and understandable. But by the third month, Luna realized Celestia wasn’t gonna stop growing. By the third month; last month, Celestia’s gut had begun to hang down, causing her pure white royal gown to fold and tuck underneath her belly. Her hips had grown so wide the bottom of the dress no longer reached the ground but now reached her shins. Her breast had also grown more plump and thick, looking like two large fuzzy melons looking to fall out her top. Her face had softened and widened to where her cheeks were chubbier and fleshier. Her golden collar was looking tighter around her neck and her bracelets were ditched due to Celestia being unable to squeeze her chubby hands through their holes.
Luna worried for her sister. Surely this couldn’t be a healthy lifestyle for her sister. They were hundreds of years old but that was no excuse to simply let themselves go. Luna knew she had to help her sister, and stop her from proceeding with this unhealthy change.
Almost on cue, Celestia entered Luna’s post. Celestia’s large size startling Luna as the younger princess gave Celestia the space she needed to raise the sun. Now Luna saw the seriousness of the damage. To Luna, Celestia looked like a big white apple or a big ball of dough. Watching that ball of dough perform the magic show that rose the sun was another story. The flab jiggling about and the fact Celestia looked like one big tear drop with the round belly, thick hips, and chunky legs.
Luna shook her head in disbelief, unable to figure out what drove Celestia to gain so much weight. With thoughts rushing through her mind like a rapid stream, Luna stepped through the door and down from her post leaving her sister to finish her task. The younger princess then made her way through the castle, encountering various guards, servants, and other royal staff members until reaching the residential half of her and her sister’s royal palace.
To anypony, the residential half was no different from the public half of the palace. Similar furnishings and decor existed, the halls were still patrolled by guards; albeit this time highly trained and more superior guards, and the size was relatively large in comparison to the public half. But to the residence of the residential half, there were many differences. One of them being the feeling of coziness and comfort that came from any home that belonged to somepony. Luna and Celestia especially felt that way. Here, they weren’t princesses. They were large political figures but sisters.
One of the many rooms was an exquisite dining room fit for royals. Obviously. The dining room was large with one long rectangular table centering the room. The table was always decorated with silverware, the luxurious tablecloth, and the many chairs that sat along its sides. The room was dimly lit due to candles being the primary light source but the dimly lit setting gave it a warmer feeling. A feeling of coziness both royal sisters enjoyed. Luna trudged into the large room and took a seat at one end of the long wooden table. No sooner did a portly middle-aged mare enter the scene carrying a tray of goods such as a teapot full of hot tea, small coffee cakes, and other pastries.
“Good morning, your highness.” The mare said setting down the teacup before Luna. Before the mare could pour the tea, Luna paused the mare.
“No, Mrs. Brew. I’ll need a boost after such a long night.” Ms. Brew nodded in understanding and quickly made her way back to the kitchen. Luna rubbed the exhaustion from her eyes and yawned. Before Luna could pass out, Ms. Brew returned with a coffee mug full of freshly brewed coffee.
“Thank you, Mrs. Brew.” Luna accepted the refreshing drink from Ms. Brew’s silver tray.
“Will there be anything else, Princess Luna?” Ms. Brew asked.
“No, Mrs. Brew, the coffee is fine.”
“Are you sure? I can make you some tasty pancakes, or a warm and toasty waffle-”
“I’m not hungry, Mrs. Brew,” Luna stated sternly. Silencing Mrs. Brew’s proposals.
Mid-sip, Luna furrowed her brow, remembering the question she had for the kind cook.
“Mrs. Brew, I wanted to ask you a question regarding my sister.”
“Ah yes, what may it be, Princess?”
“Are you aware of any calories my sister has taken in? It seems she’s gained weight.” As Luna asked this question, Mrs. Brew seemed to look worried.
“Yes, I have noticed the princesses’ sudden growth. Honestly, I have no clue how she’s managed to gain so much. She’s been eating the same things since before she gained weight, and she hasn’t added to her intake as far as I know. I’ve been holding my tongue for months now, Princess. I never brought it up because I feared Princess Celestia would be offended.” Mrs. Brew confessed. This further confused Luna. If Celestia wasn’t eating more than usual, then how has she gained all this weight? It was astonishing. Before Luna could respond, the double doors opened revealing her wider sister. Now, Celestia seemed more chipper and happier as she made her way to the opposite seat of Luna’s.
“Good morning, sister.” Celestia sounded as she took her seat. The walk from the post to the dining room must have been tiring for the eldest sister for Luna could hear Celestia huffing and puffing from across the table.
“Morning dearest sister…” Luna answered awkwardly. Mrs. Brew seemed the most startled and quickly approached the princess.
“Any requests, your highness?”
“Just my usual, thank you,” Celestia responded with a small yawn. Mrs. Brew nodded but before she could return to the kitchen, Celestia’s arm caught Mrs. Brew’s. Mrs. Brew turned to Celestia who was requesting her to lower her ear so she could whisper something.
“I wish to discuss something with you in private. Oh, and please have Chef Crusts return with my meal.”
“Of course, your highness.” Mrs. Brew responded as she left for the kitchen. Leaving the two sisters alone together.
“Well, how was work, Luna?” Celestia asked, making small talk.
“It was work. Nothing new to report, really.” Luna responded, still dumbfounded by her sister’s large size. “How was sleep?”
“Oh, it was wonderful. Slept like a foal.” Celestia commented with a smile. Luna tried to look anywhere else but at Celestia’s double chin but she couldn’t rip her gaze from her fat sister. Things were getting awkward and fast. Luna wanted to tell Celestia about her size but Mrs. Brew had brought the fear of offending Celestia into question. Luna certainly didn’t want to hurt her sister’s feelings and Luna could assume Celestia was already embarrassed and self-conscious about her weight.
Thankfully, something interrupted the silence as a handsome young Earth stallion with a grey-ish orange coat entered the room carrying a silver tray with Celestia’s breakfast of pancakes with a sliced banana, a tall glass of orange juice, a bowl of various berries and fruits, and strangely enough, a pink slip that was pinned beneath the glass of juice. The two exchanged smiles before the strapping young stallion exited the room. Soon, Celestia was eating her food with a content smile on her muzzle. Luna then noticed Celestia take the pink slip from beneath the glass and slip it between her plump breasts for safe keeping. What was the pink slip? Why did Celestia and Chef Crusts share such a tender glance at one another? So many questions stressed Luna’s mind she almost didn’t notice Mrs. Brew standing by her.
“Would you like some breakfast, Princess Luna?”
“No, I’m not hungry. Thank you…” Luna answered. Luna’s eyes then caught Celestia and even Mrs. Brew looking at her with concern. But the gawking didn’t last long when both mares looked down from Luna’s gaze.
Luna sighed and took her final sip of the coffee Mrs. Brew had made her. Luna was tired. She was in no mood to pursue asking her sister about her weight and she was already confused enough.
“I’m going to bed. I’ll see you tonight, dear sister.” Luna said as she rose from her seat.
“Are you sure you don’t want to eat, Luna? I think-”
“I’m not hungry…” Luna stated firmly as she left the room. Leaving Celestia to wonder what was wrong with her sister.
“What’s the matter with Luna?” Celestia asked herself. Mrs. Brew soon returned with a pitcher of orange juice ready to refill Celestia’s glass.
“Mrs. Brew, are you sure you offered Luna her breakfast? I’m beginning to worry about her weight.” Celestia stated.
“I tried, your highness, but she refused. She said she wasn’t hungry.” Mrs. Brew.
“Did you at least insist?” Celestia asked.
“Of course, Princess, but she was firm and I didn’t want to push her.”
“I just worry she isn’t eating as much as she should. You’ve seen her. She’s practically bone at this point. Her face looks so… Sickly and she’s always tired. I’m worried about her.”
“As you should, Princess. I’m trying my best to feed her. I’d tell her about her skinniness but I wouldn’t want to offend her.” Mrs. Brew stated. Celestia was worried. Luna was very skinny and had been getting skinnier and skinnier for months. Almost borderline anorexic.
“I understand, Mrs. Brew. I thank you for the breakfast.” Celestia said as she picked a berry from the small bowl. Mrs. Brew watched as Celestia rubbed her flabby belly as she chewed her food. “You’re free to go, Mrs. Brew,” Celestia said, waving off the cook. Mrs. Brew nervously nodded and hurried back to the kitchen.
“Everypony’s acting so strange today…” Celestia said as she took a piece from the fluffy pancakes to eat. Giggling with pleasure, the flavor of the bananas and syrup tickling her taste buds.
