Ep. 1 - Chapter 6 - The Girl

Lee ran forward and almost tackled his brother in a massive bear hug.

"Nice to see you too Lee."

"Goddamn... do you know what's going on?"

"No, but never mind that, how are you here? I thought you were supposed to be in prison."

"I never made it. I was in a cop car, and we hit one of those things on the road and crashed. I found a house and was looking for help, or someone who could at least tell me what the hell was going on, and I found a girl. She'd been surviving on her own. She had a baby sister, but she was one of THEM by the time I found her. We found some survivors who brought us to a farm, but ended up leaving pretty soon. After that we drove to the drug store... is mom and dad...?"

Bub had a distanced look." ...Yeah.."

They share a brief silence that was broken when he heard Carly's voice sounded from outside. "Lee? You ok in there?"

"Yeah! I'm fine."

The former reporter walked in the room, along with Glenn.

"Carly? Glenn?"

"Bud? Oh my gosh! You're alive!" Carly said, looking shocked.

"Yeah, I'm kind of surprised myself. After those things came out of the woods, I hid in here. I was about to come out, thinking I heard someone. Then I heard more of those things, and I figured It'd be safer in here."

Lee broke eye contact with his bother and noticed a certain purple pony was missing. "Where's Twilight?"

"Twilight? Who's Twilight?" Bud asked.

"You wouldn't believe any of us if we told you." Lee answered him.

"She should be just outside. She offered to keep watch." Carly spoke up.

"You found someone else? Someone alive?"

"Yeah."

The group left the room behind and walked out side toward the car. But before Bud took three steps, he froze when he saw Twilight.

Bud had a look of pure astonishment on his face. Twilight had a look of annoyance. "Is everypony going to have that reaction when they see me?" Twilight said to more to herself than anyone.

"Talking ponies aren't exactly things we see everyday. I would get used to it."

"Hmph." Twilight huffed.

"Uhhh... what?" Bud was broken.

"Bud, this is Twilight. She saved me yesterday, which was also the day we meant. Twilight, this is Bud. My brother."

As soon as Twilight heard the word 'brother', she was both happy and sad. She did a good job at hiding it, but Lee knew something was wrong.

He would ask about it later. When they were someplace safer.

Now that the group was reunited, they turned back to their main task and hand.

Saving the girl.

"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get outta here." Bud said.

"Not yet, Glenn said there was a girl in that room up there." Lee said, pointing to the door that still had two of the undead banging at the door.

"Are you sure?"

"Yes I'm sure. Lee, now's the time." Glenn said.

Lee nodded his head at Glenn and started walking toward the stairs that would lead them to the room.

As they arrived at the base of the stairs, Lee turned his head to address the three people and pony standing behind him. "Why don't you guys lag behind just in case this goes to hell."

"You got it, We'll be right behind you," Twilight reassured her friend.

Lee looked back up at the top of the staircase. 'Here we go.'

Lee slowly walked up the stairs and soon disappeared around the corner. The group waited a few seconds before following him, Twilight taking the lead.

As soon as Twilight rounded the corner, she could see Lee chopping a walker's head off, and another walker that was already dead close by.

'I'm going to have to kill them... they're not humans anymore. You need to remember that.'

Glenn walked up next to her and saw Lee. "Rad."

"I don't know how you just watch that like you do." Twilight said, walking up to Lee, who was knocking on the door of the room.

"Hello in there. We're here to help."

"Please, just go away!"

"Let's go guys." Carly said from behind Glenn, which caused Twilight to give the women a glare.

"In a minute." Lee responds, before turning back to addressing the women inside. "If you open up, we can take you somewhere safer. We have a group in town."

"No, no ,no!"

"She's in trouble!" Glenn said, panicked.

"Miss, we're coming in!" Lee said as he backed away from the door and brought the axe over his head and swung it down and spilt the wooden board that was nailed in the door.

'How was the door boarded up from the outside if she's inside?' Twilight thought to herself.

Lee tried the door again and found it to be locked. He responded to this by kicking the door at the knob. It didn't break the door, but got a response from the girl.

"Stop! Just stop! I'm... coming out."

Sure enough, the door opened, revealing a deathly pale young women with a alarming amount of blood on her side.

"Your hurt." Lee said noticing the blood.

Carly however, had a different reaction when she noticed the blood. "Oh God..."

"I said stay away...."

"We need to get you help!" Twilight said.

"It's too late for that." The girl said, not even fazed by the purple pony talking to her.

"Guys, she's been bitten." Carly stated.

"What?!" Glenn, Lee said, in shock. Twilight just stared at the girls bleeding chest, her face unreadable.

"I told you! I said stay away! I'm bit! But you wouldn't just leave."

"Now hold up. Just clam down. You could be fine." Lee tired to tell the girl, but she wasn't having it.

"I won't be fine! My boyfriend was bitten, you get sick, and you die, a-and you come back and kill anything you can find!"

"... you have a boyfriend?"

"Glenn!" Carly and Twilight scolded him, looks of disgust clear on their faces.

"I don't want that. It's not Christian. Please... please leave me, please go."

"We can't just leave you here!" Twilight protested.

"Yes, you can. Just go."

"Come with us, we'll find you some help." Lee suggested, but his words fell on deaf ears.

The girl noticed the guns Carly and Bud had with them. "You have guns."

"Yeah..." Carly slowly said, already knowing what she was going to say.

"Can I... borrow one?"

"What do you mean borrow...?" Bud finally spoke up.

"Give it to me. I can just... you know, end it. And then... and then there's no problem."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa."

"Please! I don't want to be one of them! They're... they're... satanic.

The next words out of Lee's mouth shocked everyone.

"Give it to her."

"Lee?!" Twilight shouted at her friend, mortified.

"What?! You can't be serious." Carly said, refusing the gun.

Bud quickly followed. "Lee, what the hell?!"

Lee didn't give up. "Give it to her."

"No!"

"Lee, what's wrong with you?!"

"Carly, Twilight, look at her. There's no happy ending to this. Please give it to her."

"I... Okay fine." Carly gave in. She placed the gun on the ground in front of the women, who picked it up a second later.

"Carly!" Twilight still couldn't believe what was happening.

"Thank you so much. I know how hard it must be."

"I can't watch this. Let's go." Glenn said, already walking back to the stairs.

"Can't." Bud said, causing Glenn to stop.

"What? Why not?"

"Because someone has to pick up the gun. We can't leave it. You all go ahead."

"You sure?" Carly said to Lee.

"I guess we'll find out."

Carly, Glenn, and Bud all walked over to the stairs. Twilight stayed a little longer, just looking between Lee and the girl, before following the others.

Twilight reached the bottom of the stairs and went over to Glenn's car. She reached the open door, but stopped and flinched when a loud crack of a gunshot rang out. She closed her eyes before getting in the backseat of the car with Glenn and Bud.

Seconds late, Lee enter the passenger seat and closed the door.

No words were said on the way back to the drug store.
