Ratchet and Clank: The Starlight of Solana

by Blackdrag-rose

Arsenal: Obani Draco

After aiding the Rangers in defeating the enemies that were trying to attack Blackwater City, and smashing them into the ground in the process, the group returned to their starship and began the trek back to the Obani Moons. One of the things that Skid was able to tell them, before he was kidnapped and taken to who knew where, was that the barrier surrounding the final moon had been lowered. Starlight had considered that Courtney Gears, who was definitely aligned with Nefarious thanks to what Clank had told them, had been seen in the area, so they were all preparing for the worst. They were all expecting a fight in order to reach Courtney Gears, so they were making sure that their weapons were at the ready before they arrived at the final Obani Moon.

During that time Angela reviewed what she had been able to learn about Maul, though at the moment she was keeping it all to herself, because Ratchet and his sisters didn't need another distraction at the moment. She was, however, concerned for Sunset, because she was forced to constantly fight against her demon every time she wanted to use her magic for anything. She had seen the amber alicorn in pain several times as they explored the other two Obani Moons and during the fight for Blackwater City, telling her, and anyone else that was observant, that the constant fighting with Searing was draining her abilities. Despite their attempts to keep the demon bound, with the power of two Cores backing them, Searing was still pushing to escape, which was why she kept seeing Sunset being tired every now and then.

Angela felt sorry for Sunset, because the amber alicorn was forced to carry such a burden with almost no one to help her carry it, while trying to figure out a way to either seal the demon away or destroy it completely.

Angela knew that Sunset was clearly trying to hide what she was feeling from her brother and sister, though she suspected that she might be the only one that had noticed the change in the alicorn's behavior. There was also the fact that the Cores were supposed to restore her forgotten memories, which made Angela wonder if she was also trying to come to terms with what she was remembering. Whatever the case was she knew that Sunset could handle it, but that didn't stop her from feeling sorry for her friend while she tried to figure out a way to overcome the demon trapped inside her.

In an effort to take Sunset's mind off of the demon trapped inside her, and the destruction that Searing had previously caused, Angela had called for Sunset to join her, because she had a question about the saber she had been given and knew that only Sunset could help her at the moment.

"You wanted to speak with me Angela?" Sunset asked, walking into the room that Angela was sitting in, where she immediately spotted the weapon she had given her sitting on the table.

"I was merely curious if it was possible to change the color of the beam that extends out of the weapon you gave me," Angela replied, turning to Sunset for a moment, "Don't get me wrong, I like the purple color that you chose when you first made the weapon, but I was curious if there was a way to change it."

"Well... I suppose that its possible to undo the bindings I put on the weapon for a moment so I could access the crystal that's inside it," Sunset answered, though Angela could tell that she was happy to have something else to think about at the moment, "Considering that Maul was able to make a saber with a red blade, how I will never understand until we have a chance to ask him, it shouldn't be too hard to change the color. When I was originally making the weapon I did have several more crystals that I could use to change the color, so it shouldn't be too hard to modify the color... and we should be able to do so before we reach Obani Draco.

Was there a color that you were interested in changing it to, or are you trying to take my mind off of something else?"

"I was thinking of changing the color to blue," Angela said, though she knew that Sunset would have caught onto her plan to take her mind off of the demon inside of her.

"Then give me a few minutes and it will be ready for use once more," Sunset replied, a smile appearing on her face for a second, as if she was pleased to have something different to do, "I just need to get my tools, and the crystals needed for the job, and then I can get to work immediately."

Angela was glad to see that Sunset was making an effort to take her mind off of what was troubling her, which would help her relax and stop worrying about the demon that was inside of her.

When they arrived at their destination Starlight immediately noticed that the area around them resembled the music video she had found back on Daxx, making her wonder if this was where Courtney Gears filmed her music videos. To further her point she spotted at least a dozen speakers embedded in the walls, though she was thankful that there wasn't any music playing at the moment. They took a moment to gather more ammunition for their weapons before they walked onto the bridge that was in front of them, though as they did so Starlight caught the small robot enemies that were in front of them and tossed them into the walls.

She wasn't fond of wasting their ammunition on the smaller robots that could fall apart in a single hit, but she had the feeling that they'd have to fight them with their weapons eventually.

They leapt over the gap between two sections of the walkway they were on, while making sure to avoid falling into the pool of purple liquid below them, before jumping into the passage in front of them. As they made their way through the corridor Ratchet and Angela tore the few enemies to pieces with their N60 Storm's, before they came to a section that required them to wait for the liquid to lower a bit. Once the liquid was at a lower level they walked across the metal bridge that connected to the other side, where they felled many of the small robots that came their way as they encountered the next problem.

The next chamber was definitely longer than the previous one, though they noticed that they would have to dodge flaming sections and avoid the electricity that was coming their way. At first Ratchet assumed that it would be a hard trek through this part of the moon, but he and the others managed to get to the other side with no problems at all. It made him wonder if he should be worried that this was too easy, as that would mean that they could potentially be walking into a trap that had been set up for them. Once they were through that bit they had to pass through a spiral section of the corridor, where Ratchet and Angela shot down all of the enemies that were coming their way before they reached the end.

That was when they spotted what Starlight assumed was the heart of the moon, which had been modified into a large disco ball of sorts and only served to annoy her a bit.

The enemies that called the area home were easy to get rid of, allowing them to access the passageway that would allow them to continue forward, where they found another corridor that had electricity coming their way. It was, once again, easy to get through the corridor, though they spotted another area that had moving liquid that required them to plan ahead before stepping forward. That would have been the case had Starlight not decided to summon a magical walkway for them to use to reach the other side much quicker, where they discovered what was likely the last trap that had been waiting for them. The last corridor was a bit longer than the other ones, which was combined with the various hazards that were in their way, but considering that they were able to get through the others they knew that they would be able to reach the end with no problems.

Once they reached the end of the corridor they found a room that appeared to be a room that was designed for a testing room of some kind, though they could all guess which weapon had been tested here. They turned on the monitor that had been waiting for them and watched as Courtney Gears strapped Skid to a table, the same one that they were standing near, and backed away, before a stream of energy surged through him and turned him into a robotic version of himself. Normally Ratchet would have been surprised at such a thing, but when he took what happened at Yeedil into consideration his surprise vanished into thin air. If Sunset could turn from a cazar and become a demon, and then turn into an amber coated alicorn later on, then it stood to reason that turning someone like Skid into robot was possible as well.

He turned back to the others to say something, but when he faced everyone he noticed something odd; Angela was missing, though before he could question it the screen changed to show her where Courtney Gears was.

Angela looked around in surprise as she was teleported someplace else, though by the looks of the room she was in she could determine that this was the area where Courtney Gears filmed her videos. She found Courtney standing in the middle of the room, but what was odd was the fact that she was wearing a black robe that was covering her body. She found it odd because most robots didn't wear clothes, save for what they were made with, and it made her wonder why Courtney, who hated 'squishies', would be wearing on to begin with. She pulled out her weapon in case the evil star wanted to fight her, which was what she assumed was going to happen considering that she was the only one to have been teleported into the room.

"Ah, Jedi Master Angela, I have been expecting you," Courtney said, turning around to face her, though that was when Angela noticed that her eyes had been modified to a dark yellow color, "Its time I showed you how much stronger we robots truly are."

"What are you talking about?" Angela replied, because she had absolutely no idea what a Jedi was, though she had the feeling that this was a way for the star to make her lower her guard.

"Seriously? You're carrying around a lightsaber and yet you don't know what a Jedi is?" Courtney said, letting out a sigh as she tossed aside her robe and pulled out her weapon, which appeared to be a red beam sword that mimicked the one that Maul had, "Whatever. Behind you is a fragment of the Codex... which I will allow you to have if you can beat me, otherwise I will enjoy destroying you and everyone that follows you."

Angela sighed and extended one side of her weapon, which was now blue thanks to the modifications that Sunset had made to it before their arrival, before she charged forward and let their weapons collide. When Angela swung low and aimed at the legs Courtney blocked the attack and forced her backwards, before taking her own swing at her arms and was blocked in kind. Whenever their weapons met each other sparks flew out everywhere, though neither of them paid it any mind as they tried to best the other with their sword skills. Angela had to make sure that she wasn't forced off the edge of the small circular area they were fighting on, but then again it seemed like her opponent was doing the same thing.

At one point Courtney managed to slip her blade past her defenses and cut into the armor that was covering her left arm, though that was when Angela kicked the star in the chest and knocked her back just a bit. Angela cursed herself for letting her opponent get at her, but then decided to extend the other side of her weapon and charged into battle once again. With the second blade out, and her agility aiding her, she slammed both sides of her saber into the weapon that Courtney was holding and immediately forced her to step back just a bit. Angela picked up the pace and applied more pressure on her opponent, cutting into the floor whenever she aimed low, before she decided to try something different.

Angela slammed her weapon into Courtney's weapon, causing her to stagger for a moment, before she engaged her boots and leapt over the star's head before she recovered, to which she drove one end of her saber into the star's chest. She must have struck the area that Courtney's power core was located, because seconds later the robot's body went still and she sheathed her blade. She had figured that the music star would have put up more of a fight, but in the end it appeared that she wasn't prepared for the fight that she had picked Angela for... and had given her a piece of the Codex.

Now they had to figure out how to return Skid to his natural form... which she assumed that either Sunset or Starlight would be able to do in a matter of days once they got started.
