Chapter 8

Chapter 8: Can’t think of chapter titles D:

The day slowly rose as Twilight awoke from her bed. It was dawn and Twilight quickly went to the bathroom to freshen up. She put on her knapsack and scribbled a note, telling Spike where she was. A royal carriage had been in front of her house for a while, having sent a letter to Celestia yesterday about her visit. She got onto the carriage and soon they were up in the air, headed toward Canterlot.
Meanwhile, in the depths of Hell, the fight had began with the Sons of Sparda and Mundus. X and Zero were behind them, providing back up as demons spawned behind them. Dante and Vergil had fused to become a clone of Sparda, like a Fusion-Ha, only not taking a mixed form.
“I see... your existence will be a thorn in my rebirth, Sons of Sparda.” Mundus bellowed at them.
“Now now, don’t get your panties in a bunch.” Sparda said. Dante’s voice seemed more distinct, whilst Vergil seemed to fade when Sparda said that. “You’re extermination will put an end to this nightmare.” Now Vergil’s voice seemed more stronger and Dante’s a little weaker. Apparently, whenever either son speaks their mind, their voice are more clear than the other brother.
“Ha! I’d like to see you try. Don’t forget, you have one weak half part of your form, Sons of Sparda.” Mundus said. He lifted up an arm and extended it in front of him. His hand started to shine as a symbol of the moon appeared. “Change the playing fields.” Mundus commanded. Hell started to shake, and the dimension exploded like a mirror. Mundus and Sparda were now in space, just like when Dante originally faced him. X and Zero also appeared with them, as they entered the same room prior to the fight.
“Tell me, what is a man? Nothing but a miserable pile of secrets!” Mundus said. “But enough talk, have at you!”

[Canterlot, 7:00 AM]

Twilight stepped off the carriage as it landed softly on Canterlot. She quickly thanked the guard and quickly made haste. The Canterlot ponies had just gotten up, and their snotty like attitudes drunk their daily tea. The grand castle was in view and was just off the beaten path. Eventually, Twilight made it to the entrance and the guards let her through, noticing her relationship with the Princess. Twilight climbed up until she reached the Princess's Chamber, where Celestia was sitting behind a wood desk, stacked with piles of paper and some librarian glasses. Celestia was working on an old typewriter, clacking away at the keys typing away. She perked up when she heard the sound of the door opening.
“Who is it?” Celestia asked. She didn’t look up from her paperwork, something about Pony reforms and such.
“It’s me, Princess, your faithful student.” Twilight bowed her head and Celestia looked up. She smiled, looking at the humble pony.
“Please, Twilight, you don’t have to be so humble. I am your friend, right?” Celestia did a light chuckle and Twilight blushed.
“R-right.” Twilight picked herself back up from the floor and went back to her original plan.
“I wanted to talk to you about our... guests.” Twilight said. Celestia stopped typing and the atmosphere went to a lull. Twilight shook a little by the sudden silence of her mentor.
“X and Zero?” Celestia asked. She went back to typing, seemingly not caring about them. Twilight sighed of relief, being afraid of her teacher’s silence terrified her.
“Yes. I was wondering... why did you... you know...” Twilight fidgeted as she stood, obviously uncomfortable.
“Teleport them away?” Celestia breathed in and exhaled. She used her magic and made a plush red chair, setting it next to Twilight. “Sit, dear student, we have a lot to talk about.”

[Space, 7:45 AM]

“X, go after the chest piece! Zero, try to distract him!” The fight still waged on, as neither side was winning. Mundus was stronger than he was before and proved to be quite a challenge, but there are 4 challengers, so surely they must win. X started to charge his X Buster while Zero teleported, thanks to the help of Sparda.1 (Let’s just call him that from now, Sparda.1). Zero reappeared behind Mundus and brought down a spinning strike from his saber. Mundus’ life bar went down a chunk as the saber made cracks in Mundus’ statue head, inflicting minor damage but well enough to get his attention. Mundus turned his head and X fired, his shot spiraling, slamming into Mundus’ centerpiece, lowering the bar a lot more. He shrieked and used his powers to summon a type of wings to serve as barriers. Mundus started to advance toward X and Sparda.1, shrugging off the apparent damage.
“It’s not over yet!” Zero flashed and reappeared to X’s side. He charged into Mundus’ chest and started to hack away at the wings, before being blown away by Mundus’ hand. Sparda.1 started to unleash a barrage of purple energy orbs, non-stop power surging through the bodies of Dante and Vergil. The fight continued until a blinking could be heard from behind. Sparda.1 looked behind him and saw a familiar face.
“Let’s go, Six Machine! Dante needs our help! Henshin a go go, baby!” Viewtiful Joe flew in from the cosmos in his trusty Six Machine in a jet, his girlfriend Sylvia in the pilot’s seat.
“Heh, who brung in the cavalry?” Dante said through Sparda.1. Joe and Sparda.1 helped in as Mundus was eventually blown back. “We have enough energy for the Hell Dragon, stand down Joe!” Sparda.1 yelled. Joe flew back as Sparda.1 grew a purple aura, growing larger as he clasped his hands. A red dragon appeared before him, and charged into Mundus, inflicting Mundus massive damage. Mundus’ life bar went down an eighth, and flew back.
“You may have luck on your side, but don’t get too cocky.” Mundus started to shoot red shards that came out of his hands. Millions upon millions shot behind him only to rain down like hail over Sparda.1’s area. Sparda.1 dodged it easily but Six Machine couldn’t do quite well, getting hit by a few.
“Six Machine, going down.” Sylvia buzzed in and the machine went back to Earth.
“Even your red machine couldn’t help you in the long run! Useless!” Mundus cackled but forgot to close his chest, allowing Zero to use his Lightning Strike, electricity surging into his body. “Waaaaagh!” Mundus closed himself with his outer wings and spun in a spiral, retreating for the time being.
“Don’t give him a second to rest!” Sparda.1 said. The group got close once again to Mundus, and Sparda.1 pulled out his Yamato. “Today, the beast shall die.” Vergil said. He crouched into a stance and the Perfect Yamato reacted upon its master’s hand. “Dimension Cut!” A flurry of swings traveled at high speeds towards Mundus. Sparda.1’s hands moved at a blur so quick, it didn’t look like it was moving. Mundus tried to cover himself with his outer wings, but the Perfect Yamato was too strong, cutting him down. Mundus started to fall and as a last ditch effort, Mundus surrounded Sparda.1 with 8 spherical sentries, shooting down Sparda.1 as well. The two legends fell back down into Earth, like fallen angels, and crash landed upon the front of Devil May Cry shop.
“C’mon, author! Don’t rehash crap from the first game, give some new stuff!” Sparda.1 yelled.

Fine fine, give me a second...

Sparda.1’s energy depleted and the two split in half, back to Dante and Vergil.
“Ah, shit, this is it.” Dante said. He was flat on the floor, breathing hard.
“You talked for 90% of the time, so it’s your fault.” Vergil replied, also on the floor. He wasn’t as exhausted but was still tired.
“Shut up.” X and Zero touched down with their Long Fall shoes and came to their aid.
“Are you guys alright?” X said. He started to scan their vitals.
“We’re ok, just a little exhausted. I wonder how Vegeta and Goku don’t get tired after being whatever the fu-” Vergil used the Perfect Yamato to floor Dante into unconsciousness.
“Just stop talking and take a damn nap.”

[Canterlot, 8:15 AM]

Twilight leglow aned more intensely into her soft, plush chair as Celestia explained the situation. Dear Celestia, these chairs are just exquisite! I need one of these...
“So, did you get all that?” Celestia finally said. The piles of paper went down a tiny bit and she had a mug of coffee, 2 sugars. She pushed her librarian glasses with her hoof and relaxed a bit. She looked at Twilight and chuckled, seeing that you can only see a slit of Twilight’s purple body and her head partly submerged in the sponginess of the chair. Twilight suddenly popped back out, like a suction cup and rubbed her neck.
“So, you “banished” X and Zero to save Equestria from any future threat because we couldn’t calculate how much OF a threat they are?”
“Exactly, we want to keep as much violence out of Equestria and dear student, you and the other elements have seen their potential.”
Twilight thought about it for a few seconds, before nodding her head. But something still irked her.
“What happens when they come back?” Twilight asked.
“It’ll be hard for them to, since there are an infinite amount of universes and ours are part of that infinity. Hopefully, they won’t come back.” Celestia resumed her tapping on the keyboard of her typewriter and Twilight decided to leave. She got a quick nuzzle from her mentor and was told to be safe before leaving back to Ponyville.

[Front of Devil May Cry, 8:35 AM]

“So what do we do? We can’t defeat Mundus at our current power level.” Zero said. His scanner analyzed the towering Mundus, who was at the time the strongest he can be. Zero looked back at Dante who woken up after being knocked out. Why Mundus hadn’t attacked then, a mystery, but whatever.
“Take their souls!” A cheery voice spoke. X and Zero jumped, and Cheryl popped off of X’s back.
“Oh, it’s just you. Don’t scare me like that!” X exclaimed. Cheryl rolled her eyes and continued to speak.
“Can’t you take their souls? They’re devils and Master had taken my soul to use, so why not theirs? It’ll help in the fight.” X thought about it for a moment.
“Yeah, why can’t we?” Zero asked. X shrugged and looked at Dante and Vergil who was in on the conversation.
“I suppose it’ll work like a Devil Arm...?” Vergil said. He got up on his feet and dusted himself off. Dante did the same and stretched out his back.
“Oh what the hell, let’s give it a shot. Come here.”
“Which one?” Zero asked.
“Capcom rules. Red with Red, Blue with Blue, now c’mon! We gotta beat the game!” Dante explained in a lackluster tone. Zero shrugged and stood in front of Dante, X with Vergil.
“Now what?” Zero said. MASH THE BUTTONS the author said. Pretty soon, Vergil and Dante started to glow their respective colors, and a small white orb went into X and Zero’s hand.

YOU GOT:

DEVIL HUNTER SOUL

This allows the user to take the form of the person’s soul, be it human or devil and to be able to use all their powers! Weapons alike! 3 possible upgrades available! Personalities also carry over, but you can switch between the character and your own! Damn writer making crap overpowered!

Overpowered, yes? Good. X and Zero opened up a secret hatch in their chests, revealing their energy source, their battery, in a sense. They placed them inside the hatch and quickly closed it. Then they started to shake and a brilliant transformation took place before Vergil and Dante. Zero’s hand became a human hand, with a black glove. X’s helmet started to disappear, to be replaced with a human head with sleek white hair. Other familiar parts replaced the Reploids own body parts, the face, the height, and even the clothes. It then ended with a soft click.

TRANSFORM COMPLETE!

FORM OF: Sons of Sparda!

The distinctive READY from the announcer spoke loudly, then two massive sound waves exploded from Zero and X, or should I say, the duplicate Dante and Vergil who was really X and Zero. Something beeped on Zero and X’s arm and they both looked down. On it showed a list of weapons and styles available for use. X could inherit the styles Dante uses since they’re so similar, yet it has a spin to it, keeping the difference between the two brothers apparent. Same with the weapons, it was as if the Doppelganger style has been tripled. Zero selected Rebellion whilst X selected Beowulf. The weapons appeared to the duo and they exploded in a rush towards Mundus.
“What’s this? Four Sons of Sparda? What type of monstrosity had created these, I certainly did not. Still, they’re only replicas.” Mundus readied his hand and slammed onto the ground, creating an earthquake. X and Zero dashed out of the way and landed at Mundus’ feet.
“Off goes this foot.” Zero said, and swung Rebellion about at Mundus’ left foot. A massive white streak went between Mundus’ kneecap and foot, ultimately crippling Mundus. “Damn, this thing has a lot of range.” Zero looked at X who used Beowulf to his advantage. It’s speed made quick work of Mundus’ right arm as it crumbled to the ground. Limping and falling to the ground, Mundus detached his torso to rid himself of his useless appendages.
“No... this cannot be! Such strength is not present in the Sons of Sparda, yet I have fallen before the scum of Sparda?!” Mundus started to crawl to the Original Dante and Vergil, who tossed Ebony to Vergil.
“Let’s end this like with Arkham.” Dante said. The two brothers stood up slowly and put their guns together.
“It’s getting repetitive.” Vergil said plainly. He cocked the gun and took aim.
“Oh well, just deal with it.” The two brothers pulled their triggers and a spiral of red and blue spiraled into Mundus’ third eye. A sonic boom imploded and Mundus was sucked into a white portal. He grabbed onto the edge, trying to pull himself back in.
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I can still fight! It’s not over yet!” Mundus’ grip started to loosen as his form started to deteriorate, slowly disappearing. “Fear the day I shall come back and rule this world!” Mundus lost his grip and spun out of control into the white light, closing the portal. Vergil handed back Ebony to Dante who holstered it back along with Ivory.
“It’s over, like always.” A female voice said behind the two. Dante smirked.
“Trish, you came back! We just defeated old grampy who made you.” Trish chuckled and sighed.
“He was always coming back, you had to eventually take care of him.” A sudden crack of lightning struck between X and Zero, and out came a portal.
“Looks like this is our stop.” Zero said. X sighed and shook his head.
“We never get left alone, do we?” X said. Just as he said it, demons spawned out from the cracks of the Earth.
“Guess not. You guys better get going!” Dante said to them, slicing apart one who tried to
sneak behind him. Zero and X waved goodbye before jumping into the portal, closing in on them.
“Interesting fellows, aren’t they.” Vergil said. He sliced open an enemy, being turned to dust.
“Sure, I guess. They did take our souls, so that’s a big thing.” Dante stuck his sword in
the ground and spun like on a pole, defeating a group of surrounding demons.
“I hope they reach wherever they needed to go.” Trish said, shooting lightning out of her palms at other demons.

Zero and X tumbled into an area, the portal closing behind them. It was a bright sunny day and it looked pretty archaic, it looked a lot like... Athens. X and Zero got up and stretched their limbs and looked around.
“Where are we, X?” Zero asked. There were many buildings, especially a giant statue of a man chiseled in marble. He had a look of fury and he was holding... a thunderbolt. X shrugged.
“I don’t know, the weird dimensional portal sent us somewhere else.” X said. All of a sudden, a man yelled and the sound of wooden planks breaking came from above. Undead soldiers and Minotaurs fell down and left bloodied with cuts around their bodies. Red looking orbs came from them and went to where the planks were broken. Then a bald man jumped down. As he stood, he was covered in blood, a scar on his stomach and a red tattoo covered a portion of his body. His chain like weapons cried and pulsed, and his ash white complexion made look like... a ghost.

[Author's Note]: Devil May Cry Arc finished! Can you guess what the next one is?

For the hell of it, here's another one.
