//------------------------------// // In The Beginning // Story: Bramble Seas Backstory // by MrEShy //------------------------------// “Well, here you found me. I knew I should have put up a better barrier up around my home. Guess since you found me you can come in, as I am guessing you have traveled far to get here?” You just nod your head and I sigh, “Thought so… Come on, come on, I don’t have all day to wait at the door.” You trot in and I go straight to a case to get you your room key, “Your room will be ready for you in a second. If you need anything then just come and find me. Don’t go down into the basement and listen for the dinner bell to meet back here.” I trot over to the stairs and I stop as you yell for me to wait. I turn around and I tilt my head, “Yes?” You let out a sigh to relax and you look back up at me, “I-I’m here to ask you something... um... I-I wanted to hear your history…” My ears twitch and a smile goes on my face, “My story? It’s been a long time since somepony asked me to tell my story~! Come, come~! I will tell you my story in the training room!” I go up the stairs and you follow with me through long hallways until we reach a door with two swords crossed over each other. I open up the door and I trot into a large empty room. The only thing that is in there is a control panel in the center of the room and the walls are completely white. As you come in the door shuts behind us, turning into a wall. I giggle a little at your concern, “Don’t worry, you are safe in here.” You look around at the blank room and nod. I smile and I head over to the control panel where I tap down some buttons. The room changes into a large open grassland and a log lay in the middle for us to sit on, “Come and sit down with me as I tell you my tale.” You come over and you sit on the surprisingly comfy log and you look at me. I sigh, “I am happy to tell you my history… but it is long and the room will change at some points through my memory… Where to start? Well let’s start at what is most clear to me, my birth.” “I was born at the Royal Empire and I was to be the son of Lucena and Astrom. I was born two years after my big sister, Luna and I am the youngest of my family. At the time Luna was two years old and my elder sister, Celestia, was fourteen years old. My parents had gotten a prophesy four years before Celestia was born and the prophesy was told by non-other than the elder unicorn of that time. It stated as the following: “20 years form now you shall see a prophecy come true. Three children you shall have, but the third is the one of new. You will lock him away and wait for the time where he shall become the evil of days. The Nightmare Angel will achieve a holy host, but will be contained by the angels of old. A battle of fate will begin and the child will become ten. The only way the war shall end is with 6 dying breaths and a grand end. Bramble Seas will be his name and with this he will attain a curse of days to come for him if he shall live again. He shall be new king or a demon that destroys this land. All is up to you in the end.” With that, the unicorn passed days later and he was buried with the knowledge of my birth to come. Back to where we were, the day I was born my parents heeded the warning and decided to lock me in my room in the highest part of the castle. They kept my birth a secret from everypony. They gave me a special whistle that they had made for me to where I could be the only user. To do this they took some of my blood before I was sent to my room and they sent it to the best potion and gold smiths of that time. Once the whistle was made they teleported it into my room and it stayed on my neck. I hated that I was stuck in there for 10 years and during that time I grew angry with my family for what they had done to me. I was mad that my sisters were getting the attention and love and care while I only got a small room with birds, mice, and my books as my only friends. Of course I couldn’t teleport out of the room due to my dad’s spell he casted to keep it to where I wasn’t able to use teleporting magic or explosive magic. I did read up and practice my spells through that time in the lonely prison. My magic was very weak though, due to not eating or drinking anything for those 10 years, but one day it all changed. After 10 years my anger had gotten to its highest peak. I yelled and casted levitation spells on everything, throwing it all around the room in my angered fit. That anger broke the barrier that was keeping the Nightmare Angel contained and he came to the room I was being kept in. He was drawn to my anger like a parasprite to anything that’s edible. He appeared next to me and grinned at my sadness, my anger, and my pain. He spoke with a light piercing voice saying, “Why are you so sad and angry little filly? Did somepony hurt you by taking your bottle?” His laugh boomed evilly and he floated around me as I looked up at him. I told him how my life has been for the last ten years and he smiled at his plan that was forming in his head. He finally said with a big grin, “Let me help you little one. I can get you what you want. All you have to do is let me take you over to break this barrier. You will be able to see your sisters and parents. They will show you the love and attention you need over time.” I wiped away a tear and I nodded at his deal, but before I realized it was a trick, it was too late. He went straight into me and coursed my veins with his anger and hate. I fell unconscious and he opened my eyes and roared with evil laughter, “I have done it! Hahaha! A powerful alicorn child to use as my own! Now I can finally get my revenge on those two alicorns who imprisoned me for so many years!” He look out the window and he charged up his magic, shooting the wall, taking it out with the window and breaking the spell that was casted on the room. He flew out and saw my parents glaring at him as he grinned back. He noticed two figures running for the castle doors and he shoot a spell at them. My parents casted a spell as fast as they could and countered the shoot as my sisters made it safely inside. He frowned at my parents and growled, “Why not let me have my fun?” My dad replied with anger in his voice, “I will not let you hurt my daughters nor shall you win this battle!” He laughed and looked down at my dad, “I have already won by taking over your son.” My mom and dad glared at him and my mother growled, “Maybe that was our pla…” He interrupted her with a happy devilish laugh, “Put your son in the highest part of the castle and starved him. Ahahaha~! You had him starved of love and care?! What kind of parents are you to let your son be taken over by me?” My mother hesitated as those words ran through her mind, but she said nothing more and my dad replied, “Let us see who will win!” My dad shot a beacon in the air and four more alicorns appeared at their side. Each four alicorns represented one of the four main elements Earth, (Earetrium) Lava, (Laviticon) Air, (Astron) and Water (Wintro). They had their armor on and weapons ready. The Nightmare Angel grew to the height of the castle and flew up and landed a couple of feet away in a field with a sword of pure nightmare matter ready. The alicorns landed on the opposite side of the field ready for battle. Before they started the Nightmare Angel took his sword and sliced his arm. His blood poured out, dropping to the ground. He smiled, “Let us even this battle out.” As he said that the blood started to form into dragons, changelings, draconequeses, and other evil creatures. The alicorns and creatures of nightmares glared at each other intensively. Time seemed to have stopped for them all as they stare each other down. The dark creatures charge first and then the alicorns run at them, weapons drawn. Suddenly, they clashed swords, and thus the ancient three-month battle begins. The battle went on and on until the alicorns were reduced to only 3 left, Lucena, Laviticon, and Earetrium. At the end the only alicorn that was left standing was my mother, Lucena, who was almost out of magic. She looked up at the Nightmare Angel and yelled at him saying, “You will not win this battle!” He glared down at her and laughed with a booming sound that was heard all over the lands and domains. He looked down on Lucena and said, “There are thousands of my armies and only one of you! How could you possibly win in your weakened state?” She started up the last of her magic and shot a large portal into the clouds as she fell to the ground. She lies their, weakening to her last breath. He looked at the clouds and horror stuck his face as he saw the ancient angels flying out of the portal opened in the sky. They landed one by one in front of Lucena, leaving a crater in the ground as they stared forward at the enemy, waiting for Lucena’s commands. She faintly said with a raspy voice, “Defeat the enemy and save my son…” The ancients shot toward the monsters defeating most of them and throwing more into the woods around them, casting a spell to trap them in the darkened forests. They neared the Nightmare Angel, and through his fear he took all of his knowledge of dark magic, took some monsters, and hid them in different places throughout the lands. After the last of the monsters were transported to the woods, an angel flew right into the Nightmare Angel and he yelled with pain. His yelling got louder and louder as more angels poured into him and pushed him into me to seal him away in my heart. My mother watched as she could now see my face emerge through the darkness. Tears welled up in her eyes as said with her final breaths, “P-please forgive me and your father… I-I am sorry it has to b-be like this… You will have to take the throne from here on out… I hope y-you will grow to be a good and kind king… Please t-take care of your sisters…. I love y-you my sweet s-son… Bramble…” With that she passed away.
