//------------------------------// // (2) Use Your Wings // Story: Stage Fright // by Script Singer //------------------------------// Fluttershy flapped her wings as hard as she could, her eyes shut tight. She took off a few inches off the ground. She opened one eye. Her eyes went wide at what she saw. "I'm doing it, Rainbow!" she smiled. "Keep focusing on your wings." Rainbow Dash called out Fluttershy closed her eyes again. "You're doing awesome, Fluttershy!" Fluttershy noticed Rainbow's voice fading. She opened her eyes again. She had flown up a few feet. Her fear caused her lose concentration and she quickly fell. Rainbow managed to catch her before she hit the ground. "Whoa, Fluttershy. Don't lose that focus." Fluttershy clung to Rainbow's leg. "I think I'm done for today!" she squeaked. Her eyes were shut tight. "Alright..." Rainbow rolled her eyes. She flapped her wings, flying to the ground slowly so she could put Fluttershy down. Once Fluttershy knew she was on the ground, she let go of Rainbow. "You're doing better, Fluttershy." said Rainbow. "I can't even stay off the ground." Fluttershy squeaked, looking forlornly at the ground. "You'll get it." They walked down to the flying fields to go practice more. Fluttershy walked slower than usual. --- Fluttershy stayed on the edge of the flight dive cliff. She stared at the ground. The coach pushed her off again. She repeated the same thing from last time. She landed onto the ground. Everyone pointed and laughed. Rainbow ran off the cliff. She soared into the sky. She did a back flip in the air. She landed onto the ground. Everyone cheered for her. Fluttershy's ears plopped back. Rainbow put her hoof on her shoulder. She gave her friend a smile. "Hang in there, Fluttershy." she said quietly. She walked with her friend. --- Fluttershy walked outside when everyone else was asleep. She could hear nothing but her hoofsteps and her heart racing. She let out a sigh. "You can do this Fluttershy..." she muttered to herself. She flapped her wings as hard as she could and began taking off from the ground. She smiled at herself. "Fluttershy...?" a voice said. Startled, she lost her concentration and her wings locked. She fell, Rainbow Dash catching her. "What are you doing up?" she asked. "We're supposed to be asleep." "You know why I'm awake." Fluttershy hung her head, slowly flapping her wings. Rainbow Dash put her arm around her friend. "Don't worry too much about it." "I'm the only one in flight camp who can't fly without falling!" "Don't worry about it too much Fluttershy. Some things can take time for some ponies." "Fluttershy, its past your bedtime." Fluttershy's mother walked in. "What are you doing up?" Fluttershy didn't say anything. She just walked back to her room. --- Fluttershy tried flying on her way back, but she couldn't stay up in the air for very long. So she just walked. She entered her room. However, when her mother was about to tuck her in she asked her not to. "I just want to be alone for a while right now Mommy, if that's okay..." she whispered. Her mother let her have her privacy. She gave her a kiss, turned off the light and shut the door. When she knew her mother was gone, she got out her journal. She then read her song to get things off her mind. When she finished, she was more at ease and decided to go ahead and head off to bed. --- Fluttershy followed her morning schedule. She recited the camp chant, ate some breakfast, and was thrown off of the Flight Dive Cliff. Along with teasing throughout the day. It was like any other bad day. Which was everyday. Rainbow Dash was Fluttershy's only friend at Flight Camp, so it wasn't always easy. And it got worse when she went back home to take a nap. "There you are Fluttershy." her mother said, she hesitated before continuing. "I came to tell you that your Father and I have to leave for a few days. The Camp Directors will look after you." That made her day even worse. --- Fluttershy plopped onto her bed exhausted. She was too upset to take a nap. Rainbow Dash had brought her some snacks since she decided to rest during one of her classes for the day. She visited with her during her lunch break. "How are you feeling, Fluttershy?" Rainbow Dash asked. "Miserable! Mom and Dad left me with all the mean colts and nopony to stay with me!" she said, irritation and sadness lacing her voice. "I wouldn't mind coming over and staying with you Fluttershy. If that's okay with you." A smile grew on Fluttershy's face. "That would be lovely." "Can we start that tonight?" Rainbow asked. "Sure!" --- "Are you sure you're comfortable enough, Rainbow? I can get you another pillow." Fluttershy asked. "I'm fine, Fluttershy." Rainbow Dash whispered, smiling. "Thanks though." Rainbow Dash was sleeping on the floor since Fluttershy didn't have an extra bed. She wanted her friend to be as comfortable as possible. After all, she didn't want to be a bad host. When they fell asleep, Rainbow woke up in the night to get a glass of water. She noticed Fluttershy's Song Journal. She opened up to the page with her song. "Sticks and stones, may break my bones, but names will never hurt me..." she read. "But in my mind, those words unkind, can nobody see? In my world, of tears, in my world of fears, can they all be, can they be true to me?" Rainbow Dash was amazed with her friend's talent. She never heard her sing before, so she decided to ask her about it in the morning.
