Chapter 13: Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000
The train arrived at the castle grounds train station. I got off to be greeted by a white unicorn stallion with a blue mane. I saw that he was wearing purple armor.
“Are you Seth?” he asked.
“Yeah.”
“Hello I am Captain Shining Armor, Princess Celestia asked me to give you training on combat spells.”
“A captain huh? I was expecting some drill instructor or some old Star Swirled the Breaded look-alike, but let me guess because of the situation the Princess assigned you because you’re the best of the best right?”
“Well I wouldn’t say that.”
“Come on, a royal guard Captain, you probably know some really powerful spells. Hell, I bet you know five ways to kill somepony with a toothpick without magic.”
“Well 8 actually, but that’s not important.”
“Okay.”
We started walking off to the castle when I spoke up again.
“I’m sorry, but what was you name again?”
“Shining Armor.”
“Hmmmmm... Where have I heard that name before?” Then it clicked to me. “Oh I remember now, your Twilight’s brother.”
“So you know Twily?”
I just started laughing at that nickname, before I saw Shining Armor glaring at me.
“Sorry, yeah anyways to answer your question, yes, I’m her friend/employee/former roommate.”
“Ah okay.”
We got to the training field, which was a rectangular dirt field with a obstacle course and several training dummies.
“So Seth how many spells you know?”
“Well I’ve read a few spell books, but actual ones I can do? Let’s see levitation, gem finding, heating up water, teleporting, and walking on clouds. So five. I know not really impressive.”
“Hmmm... Well some of those have potential to be used for offense or defense, but I still have a lot to teach you.”
“Like what?”
“I’ve been asked to teach you three spells in particular. Forming a shield, shooting a beam and, probably the most advanced, spawning a weapon, but first I want to expand on that gem finding spell. If you can take gems or rocks out of the ground you can use them as projectiles.”
“Oh yeah that’s how I’m going to defeat Inferno. By throwing rocks at him.”
“You never know. I mean levitation can already turn anything into a projectile and a rock is a nice solid object. Hit him in a good spot on the head, bam, he’s dead.”
“Okay fine.”
I searched the area till I found a good size rock underground I focused on it until I felt that I had a good grip on it with my magic. Then I ripped it right out of the ground, but instanly dropped it due to the headache I got from doing that.
“Aaaaaahhhhh” I exclaimed rubbing my temples.
“Not bad. I mean for somepony who’s technically not even a year old and...”
“So you do know about it.”
“Yeah Princess Celestia told me before you arrived.”
“Yet, she didn’t tell you that I know your sister, let alone used to live with her.”
Shining shrugged and then told me “That’s good for today.”

I made it to the room I’d be staying in where I sat my stuff down on the bed. I opened up one of the bags to take out a picture. It was of Rainbow and I on our first, official, date at Sugarcube Corner. Pinkie took it with out our consent, but we still liked it and decided to keep it. It showed the two of us siting at a table with two milkshakes on it. Rainbow was giving me a peck on the cheek while I was just blushing. I put the picture back and sighed. “I miss you already.”

A few days later I was in the middle of the training field practicing the stone attack, which I was extremely close to perfecting. The area was set up with about six dummies. I used the levitation spell and took a rock out of the ground and threw it at one of the mannequins, taking it’s head off.
“Well done.” Shining said. “Now can you get the rest?”
I smirked and used all my might to take several stones out of the ground and fired them all at once. It was a scattered shot, but I took out all the targets.
“Nice job now I think we can...” Shining began to say before somepony behind him spoke up to him.
“Having fun?”
Shining turned towards the pink alicorn.
“Oh hey Cadence. Come to visit me at work?”
“I guess so.” She giggles and the looked at me. “So you're Seth?”
“Yes.” I responded.
“Shining’s told me a little about you. I’m Princess Cadence. Shining Armor’s girlfriend and niece of Celestia and Luna.”
“Uh...I’m Seth. Rainbow Dash’s boyfriend and employee of Twilight Sparkle."
“Twilight? Wow, I used to foalsit her. I don’t personally know Rainbow Dash, but I know of her.”
“Wait you said you two are dating right?”
“Yes.” Answered Shining.
“So you're a royal guard captain and dating a princess, and as for Twilight she’s Princess Celestia’s personal student and the wielder of the Element of Magic. Man, your parents have some serious bragging rights.”
They both laughed and Shining responded with “Yeah I guess they do.”

It was two days later and I got the shield spell down surprisingly quickly. So I was ahead of schedule.
I walked into my suite, where I found a box on the bed. I opened it to find a bottle of cider and a note which said ‘Yes we saved you some too.’
“Hey Seth are you busy right now?” Shining asked from the door way.
“Oh not at all. What are you here for?”
“I came to give you these instruction on the next spell.”
“Oh yay! Homework!” I said sarcastically.
Shining smirked and put them down on the room’s desk.
“So what do you have there?” He asked.
“Cider. Want some?”
“I guess one glass won’t hurt.”
One hour and a bottle of cider later...
“You, you know Seth? You are a really cool guy.” Shining said in a drunken state.
“I-I-I wouldn’t...descibe myself as...cool.” I said also quite tipsy.
“Oh don’t be hard on yourself.”
“I’m not...I mean I’d say that...my life is more stressful than cool. I mean I was created by Discord...I’m a little surprised...t-that the P-Princess didn’t...have me arrested be-because of that. I’m not that great at magic and I can’t even sleep...w-w-with...out being reminded that. Thank Celestia I have Rainbow Dash.”
“You really love her don’t you?”
“I do. I mean...she’s the most amazing mare in the world! She’s beautiful, fun, cute, funny, adorable, cute.”
“You said cute twice and adorable is almost the same thing so three times.”
“But she is. That sleek coat, that flowing mane, those gorgeous magenta eyes.”
“Heh...I see Cadence the same way...hey Seth can you keep a secret?”
“Sure man, what?”
“I’m planning to propose to Cadence soon.”
“Well congratulations.”
"Thanks.” Shining looked at the clock. “It’s getting late I should be getting home.”
“Okay see you later.”
He left and I closed the door behind him then walked to the bed I looked at the picture and smiled.
"Goodnight Rainbow." I said to it before going to bed.
