//------------------------------// // Chapter 5: Sweet dreams are made of these~ // Story: There's more than one way to live a Nightmare // by Abaddon spice //------------------------------// Dreams. They're unique to everyone or pony. Creations of the mind or figments of the imagination. Masterpieces of perception. And right now I was trying to murder mine. I dove after the fleeing shadow, "Come back here, ya Bitch!" Twenty minutes ago I entered the dreamscape, it had been a long day, and I really didn't want to deal with the voice right now. The landscape quickly turned into a lush field, and I laid down under a tree that was near me. As a pony-like figure came into view, what little hope of getting an undisturbed rest was shattered. So I looked at it with a growl. "What do you want?" I snapped, but the figure ignored my hostility and lied down next to me. "I think we should get to know each other" My ears perked up. "So, you basically just want to chat?" And with a nod of her head, I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. Talking? Yeah I can do talking. I then got a good look at her, dark grey coat, silver slitted eyes with neon green rings around them, sharp jagged fangs, and one front and back molten rock limb. Oh, and did I forget to mention she was an alicorn? Yep, but her horn was broken and her wings had some wear-and-tear. She also had one of those ethereal manes as well, a neon green fire mane with royal blue for the base, and her cutie mark was a green flame. 'OC?' Was all I could think, but I shook my head and tried to start a conversation. "So, what's your name?" I asked and the alicorn shrugged. "I could make up one, but truthfully I don't care. Name's Forest fire, but just call me Forest" I nodded and then tried to think of another question. "Why couldn't I talk to you when I was stuck on the moon?" I asked, and for her sake she better have not been ignoring me. She gave me a sigh, "I only got hired a few chapters ago, so I wasn't there when you were banished" and then asked me her own question. "So why do you pretend to care about those alicorns?" and I shot her a glare. "First off I DO care about those alicorns. Got a problem with that" I snorted, evidently irritated, but she just waved it off. "It would hinder your progress, and give you morals. Try not to get to attached to them." she stated evenly. I felt my blood begin to boil. "Look I'd consider it, but no" I growled. "Maybe I should get rid of them" she murmured quietly to herself and my anger flared. "Not in your bloody life!" I snarled. Look, I was very tired and wasn't thinking clearly, of course I wasn't going to act correctly either. I dove for her, one question in and I was already pissed. Yep, this was definitely going to be a healthy relationship. Her eyes widened as I slammed into her, I sank my bladed teeth into her shoulder and she let out a snarl and slugged me with her rocky forearm. My head snapped back, letting go of her fur, and she dove onto me. As we snarled and wrestled the dreamscape quickly changed, from a beautiful field to a bloody battlefield. We roared and clashed, hoof and claw, fangs and horns, heads and- well you get the idea. As we continued the fight I didn't notice someone else taking account of the situation. "Sister?" I heard an all to familiar voice say. 'Shit! Luna's here!' I panicked and Forest took this opportunity to sucker punch me in the gut and make a break for it. Well Luna could wait for a moment, I had a voice I had to kill. "Came back here, ya bitch!" I screeched and continued after the fleeing alicorn, as I leapt, fangs bared, hooves extended, and bloody-murder in my eyes, Luna intervened. She shoved me out of they way. "Nightmare! What are you doing?!" She yelled at me and I turned my head. In the place of the alicorn I was in a deathmatch with earlier, was a innocent little earth pony filly, running away and disappearing. "That sneaky little-" I growled, whoever said sleep was supposed to relax you was going to die when I woke up. I then turned to Luna,"What are you doing here!" I snarled, she flinched and slowly backed away from me. "I...I thought you deserved a g-good dream sister" she squeaked with her ears down. 'Breathe nightie, breathe, it's just your little sister that just said the worst thing possible in this conversation, calm down' I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. "How long have you been here?" I stated as calmly and evenly as I could. "Since you were about to eat that filly" she squeaked, her voice rivaling Fluttershy's. I took another deep breath and sat down so I could rub my temples. "Luna, please... For your sake, and for mine. Stay out of my dreams." I stated and after a few rapid head shakes and a quick dream door slam, she was gone. I heard a few hoof steps behind me. "Well that was interesting" I heard Forest say from behind me. "Please don't tell me all of my dreams are going to go like this" I groaned, and Forest let out a laugh. "Nah, but I have to admit- she started as she pulled me up and put me in a headlock. "I think we're going to be great friends" she finished with a jagged smile that could make children cry, and used her free hoof to roughly ruffle my mane. Strangely, I felt a new energy fill me, old anger forgotten, a vicious smile that Mach 2'd hers slowly crept onto my face. "Ready for Round 2 punk?" "Bring it." she said as she tightened her hold. As I was slugging Forest across the landscape with a rubber sledgehammer, a strange tingling sensation came over me. "Uh, Forest? What's going on?" As she pulled herself out of the mountainside crater she had just created, she looked up. "Looks like your waking up. Time to finish this!" she exclaimed, and then put her claw and hoof apart from each other. "KAAAAAAAA! HAMAAAAAEEEEEE! HAAAAAA!" she yelled as a beam came right for me. Right on impact, I woke up. "Did she just-" but no words could come out, so my mind filled in for me. 'She just Super Saiyan'd my ass'
