Chapter 15: Dreams

During the night while the newest Tenno were asleep, they experienced their first lucid dreams.

I jolt upright and look around, I know I went to bed yet here I am in some kind of vast Library or Archive. Rows upon rows of books and scrolls rest on the shelves and I start to drool at the accumulated wealth of knowledge this place could contain.

I quickly run over to a shelf and levitate a book out and go wide eyed at what's on the cover. 'Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns, first year' is the title and I open it to see events of my life in the first year I was there written down on the pages.

Looking around at the books an idea comes to mind. 'Are these all my memories?' I wonder to myself and pick up another book next to it about my second year at the school.

I levitate them both over to a single table and cushion in what appears to be the middle of my own Memory Archive and start reading and remembering my first year at school.

I open my eyes and see a large clearing surrounded by hundreds of apple trees. I take a deep breath and smell the aroma of apples all around me.

I look down to my legs and see that they're still longer. Wait... Didn't Rainbow say that I would be awake in my dreams now? And that anything ah think of would happen?

My stomach rumbles, so I close my eyes and imagine a table with an assortment of apple vittles on it. I open my eyes to see a long square table with apple pies, fritters, and many more tasty food. I start to drool slightly as I trot over to it and take a piece of pie. I take a bite out of it and sigh.

It tastes just like Granny's apple pie! I finish the rest of the slice and take another one.

I sit back on my haunches and rub my belly in satisfaction. That was the best brunch I think I've ever had. I look around and notice the table is now gone. I shrug, not really caring why.

I just sit here for a few minutes... What do I do now? Karn did tell us to get used to our new bodies. I remember I was able to scratch my back and I try to do it again. It feels weird, but I'm able to bend my foreleg easily and touch the middle of my back with no discomfort.

I shiver slightly at the odd feeling. I remember seeing my brother standing easily on his hind-legs and swing that axe around. I rear up and stand upright on my hind-legs. I thought I would lose my balance, but I'm surprised that I feel just fine.

I rotate my waist left to right. I even managed to lean back without falling! I might as well get some practice with that whip thingy Karn showed me. I imagine it in my right hoof and I hold it out. Karn said he'd try to make it work to my thoughts. So I think about it extending as if I pushed that button on the handle.

The head of the whip falls to the grass. I imagine it retracting and it does so. I bring my right hoof behind my head and swing the whip forward and extend the head out. A loud 'thwip' echoes throughout the orchard as the head hits the grass with a shower of sparks. I retract the head as I pull the handle back up.

This actually feels mighty easy. I decide to give this here thing a test and imagine those changelings that almost got my sister and her friends.

Three appear ahead of me, covered in those disgusting orange and blue lumps. I pull the whip horizontally behind me to my right, and then swing it forward and extend the head. It impacts the third changelings head and discharges.

The changeling falls to the floor as the side of its head caves in, I glare at the other two as I retract the whip. They both screech and then charge at me.

I pull the whip back and get ready to fight.

I yawn as I open my eyes, then gasp as I notice I am laying on the softest silk I have ever felt before. I look around and notice the red silk goes on as far as I can see. I stand up and stretch my legs.

I then sit on my haunches, wondering what to do now. Rainbow did mention she could control her dreams now. I remember that the Gala is only a few months away and I could use this time to design us some new dresses for it. I Imagine a stack of papers and pencils on a table in front of me. They fade in and I reach out with my magic.

I lift up a few sheets of paper and pencils around me and begin drawing them up.

I put down the pencils and look at the new designs. They look absolutely marvellous! I even designed a suit for Karn. I place the stack of designs onto the table and leave them there. I just hope I can remember them when I wake up so I can draw them on to real paper.

Now with that done I imagine those throwing knives that I practised with earlier. I lift one close to my face so I can look at them in detail. They're beautifully crafted with a stylish pattern along the blade.

I guess I'll keep practising with these. I imagine a set of targets like the ones Applejack used at her rodeos. Once they appear, I levitate five knives in front of me and then launch them at the targets. Three hit the middle dot and two hit the second ring.

I'll continue to practice until I wake up I guess.

I feel something land on my head as I open my eyes. I hear birds chirping as I look around. I'm in a large meadow with flowers and hills in every direction, even a small lake just to my right. There's a few trees around me with small animals in them. I look to my left to see some bunnies hopping towards me. I smile as I pick one up and nuzzle it.

"Hello, What's your name?" I ask it. It just tilts its head and stares at me. "Oh, well, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to," I say and put it down. It hops away and I look around again. I see deer, birds, bears, mice and other woodland creatures wandering around the meadow.

I stand up and start walking towards some sort of egg on the small hill ahead of me. Once I'm next to it, I notice it's the same egg that is in Karn's ship. I place my hoof on the egg and can feel a warmth flowing from it, which for some reason makes me smile.

"Hello, little one. How are you feeling?" I softly say to it. It wiggles in reply a little. I giggle and curl up next to it. "That's good. We should come up with a name for you," I say.

After a few minutes of thinking, I have the perfect name. "I know, how about... Cobalt?" I say to the egg. I'm not sure why, but that name just seems perfect for her... Her? How do I know it's a female? My thoughts are interrupted as the egg bounces a little. I just smile and nuzzle the egg. I notice some of the other animals slowly approach us.

My smile widens as I look around. This place is like a paradise.

I look at all the fun looking things around me. I'm standing on what looks chocolate grass! I see trees that look like they're made of candy canes with cotton candy leaves and rocks that look like jaw breakers. And is that a chocolate milkshake fountain!? I squeal and gallop over to the fountain. I dunk my head into it and start drinking the chocolatey goodness.

I pull my head out with a deep satisfied sigh. "Oh wowie! That was super duper! I wonder what else there is here?" I say to myself. I look around again and spot the BIGGEST cupcake I have ever seen! Its just as big as Sugarcube Corner!

I run towards it and start taking bites out of its side. I keep going and start digging a tunnel through it. I come out of the other side with a big smile on my face.

I look to my left and see another me. but I, er... I mean she has a darker coat and mane than me and looks super unhappy.

"Hello, Pinkie. It's been a while since we last seen each other hasn't it," she says in an emotionless tone.

I just stare at her with confusion for awhile. Then I remember. She first appeared when I got angry at my friends thinking they didn't like me or my parties anymore. I shut myself away and she took over.

But Twilight and the others helped me come back to my normal happy self. I thought I got rid of my pouty meanie side. B-But why is she here now? I'm not upset or angry.

"Ah, so you do remember me," she says as a large spiky hammer appears in her hooves.

She growls and swings it at me, making me yelp and quickly duck under it. I imagine that hammer Karn gave me and block her next swing. "Wait, why are you doing this?" I ask her.

"What? You don't remember? You locked me away in the darkest parts of your mind and left me there alone for months! Do you have any idea what it's like to be left alone for so long with no one to talk to or nothing to do for that long!" she replies angrily.

She pushes me away and leaps into the air and brings her hammer down towards me. I jump to the left and avoid the blow where the ground cracks where she landed.

I look towards her sadly but my thoughts are broken by somepony speaking. "We do," a mare's voice says.

I turn to see Princess Luna standing there. "Hello, Miss Pie. We're sorry for intruding, but it seemed thou were having a nightmare. Are thee alright?" she asks me while giving the other me a sympathetic look.

"You stay out of this! This is between me and her!" the other me says to Luna.

"And what will you do once you've beaten Miss Pie?" Luna asks her.

"I... I don't know, but I'm gonna make her sorry for casting me away like she did!" she growls and lunges at me, only to be stopped by Princess Luna's magic. "LET ME GO!" the other me yells as her hammer fades away.

Luna walks over and stands beside me. "We think not." Luna's horn glows but her expression turns to shock. "What? How art thou real!?" Luna asks her in surprise.

I start to tear up and slowly walk towards the other me. She growls at me as she struggles in Luna's magical grip, but she gasps as I hold her in a tight hug. "I'm sorry," I tell her.

She stops struggling for a moment. "No you're not," she says quietly.

I look her in the eyes as tears fall down my cheeks. "Yes I am. I thought you were just a meanie pants when you appeared. I was scared of what I had become and I guess I pushed you away in fear of becoming like that again," I tell her. Hugging her a bit tighter. "But if you forgive me, I hope we can be friends," I say.

She sniffs a few times before quietly sobbing on my shoulder. Luna drops her magic and the other me hugs me back. I notice her fur and tail's colour brighten slightly.

"Do you mean it?" she asks.

"Uh-huh," I reply and step back a bit. "Cross my heart hope to fly, stick a cupcake in my eye," I say with a smile.

She smiles back and her hair slightly curls at the ends but not by much.

"So! Do you wanna play a game?" I ask her.

Luna walks up to me. "Are thee sure about this, Miss Pie? Sharing thine mind with another?" she asks me.

I look back to the other me and smile again before turning back to Luna. "Yup!" I reply.

Luna gives one last look to the other me and smiles. "Very well then. We shall take our leave," she says and turns to the other me. "But should thou harm Miss. Pie in anyway. We shall make thee regret it," she says coldly.

The other me nodded repeatedly with wide eyes while hiding behind me. Princess Luna then smiles and leaves through a door with stars in it.

With her gone, I turn back to the other me. "Hi, my name's Pinkie Pie. What's yours?" I ask her and hold out my right hoof.

"Pinkamena," she says with a small smile and shakes my hoof with hers.

"Come on! let's go find something fun to do!" I say and start looking for something fun to do with my new friend.

I open my eyes to a large apple orchard all around me, with a red barn and farm house to my right. I close my eyes and take a deep breath as the scent of the orchard fills the air. I look around to see if there's anything else. I see a small crop field to the left of the barn with a plough next to a fence around the field.

I trot over to the barn and look inside. There's hay bales stacked up in the back. Tools line the left wall with hammers, rakes, saws, another plough and boxes of nails.

I walk over to a hay pile and lay down on my back. I place a straw of hay between my teeth and just relax till morning.
