//------------------------------// // Answers // Story: Existence // by Spectar37 //------------------------------// Chapter 13 The sun hung directly above us, signalling midday as we made our way to town. The five mares conversed with the others, asking question that I never bothered to listen to. I’m too busy thinking. Cloe has gained fire powers, being able to conjure fireballs and throw them at will. Just like the demons can. Tony, however, can force push people while Anala has healing powers. Why does the world make them OP? I’ll ask myself that later when I have more information. The rest of us seem not to have such abilities, being stuck with whacking things really hard. I still remember that stick. “Hey,” a voice interrupted my thoughts. I look up to find the overly inquisitive purple unicorn walking beside me, a smile on her face. This can’t be good. “Yeah, what up,” I say as a response. “You promised to answer my questions today.” Aw shit, I did. “Can’t you ask someone else?” I asked. “I did,” she answered, “they told me to ask you.” What? I look back at my friends. Tony grinned back at me. I sighed in defeat. “Ok, ask away.” “First of all, what’s a multiverse?” the first question came. “Ah, this is gonna be fun,” I mumble to myself before beginning to answer. “The multiverse used to be a theory among us. No one really agreed with it too much but I liked it. Anyway, it’s effectively a plane where all the universes that exist sit around and exist. It’s occupied by an entity who calls himself the Guardian.” Twilight took all of the information in. She loves that knowledge. “How many universes exist?” Twilight asked. “Effectively, so many that saying an infinite number exist is easier than guessing,” I answer. “Wow, that many,” the unicorn said. “Yep.” “Ok, now what’s a TV?” Twilight asked. “Ah, this is easy,” I say loudly. “So, think a box. Wait no think about a big panel.” I paused for a second before continuing, not caring if she was thinking about a panel or not. “now think moving images on the panel… now think sound that goes perfectly with the image, like if there was a moving image of a pony hitting a piece of metal there would be a thump noise or whatever it sounds like to go with it.” “…Ok, I think I get it,” twilight said, her face a mask of quasi-understanding. “Yay,” I cheered. “Now, what is a TV show?” She asked. “Aw, this is too easy,” I say to myself before answering. “Think a stage play put into a TV.” Twilight showed her confusion. “How does that work?” “Simple, all you need is the sounds and a camera that takes sixty pictures a second and puts them on the TV instantly.” “But wouldn’t the TV get crowded with images?” “No, the newest image replaces the old image, making the image look like it’s moving.” “Oh.” I think Twilight gets it now. “Now, one last question.” What?! I thought we were done. “Ok,” I say, hiding my underlying feelings. “What are those things?” she asked, gesturing to the weapons on my back. “Guns,” I answer, “Plasma based weapons to be exact.” “And what’s a gun?” Oh yeah, they don’t use guns here. “Projectile launchers, designed to cause harm at the healthy range of a hundred metres,” I answer once again. Twilight looked horrified. “Well what do you expect from a human, pleasant stuff and happiness?” I ranted. “It disgusts me, the way we are. We always fight each other over stupid shit, continuously evolving our weapons when we could be doing something productive.” My voice began to rise in volume as I got deeper into my rant. “Something like improve computer science or medicine, find a way to explore the stars more readily, maybe improve farming techniques while we’re at it but NO.” My voice was practically shouting at this point. “We instead choose to kill each other more, then when the world is dying around us we solve the issue by killing each other some more!” I snorted as my rant ended, diving as deep into thought as I can. I tried to calm down. I began to search for something happy to think about. Stars, I need stars. My thoughts snapped back to reality to find several ponies in front of me, stares of fury coming from Applejack, Rainbow and Rarity. The five humans stood beside them, looks of worry on their face. Twilight could be heard crying off to the side of the path with Pinkie trying to comfort her. Shit, I upset everyone. Stupid ranting skills. Before my mind could react, I was violently tackled to the ground then restrained with magic. I tried to pull against the energy to find it unbreakable. “What did ya say ta Twilight?!” Applejack yelled furiously. “I told her about humanity.” “You WHAT!?” my friends shouted in disbelief. Well, except Anala. “Well, I more or less went on a rant about our negatives,” I corrected myself. “Andrew,” Cloe said softly, “THAT’S WORSE!” “I know, I know, I’m sorry,” I said, basically on the verge of releasing tears. “I don’t want to hurt people, I don’t. I just…” I stopped before looking down. “I just want to be alone.” I felt the magical restraints loosen a bit before jumping into action. I need just a little solitude. I broke out of the restraints and jumped back onto all four hooves. I spun on the spot and jumped forward with as muck force as possible, spreading my wings and taking to the skies. I flew as fast as I could, trying to get out. The place where we practiced should do. I turned my body into the direction of the place where I was whacked in the head and continued on, hearing shouts behind me but ignoring all of them. I need to think. I need to be alone...
