Her Favorite Season

by Rosanne-Faerwing

Chapter 0 - Two years last Spring..

Within the endless blue sky above, Celestia’s sun stood proudly shining down upon the world with only a few clouds blocking its way, letting its warmth and its comfort break through to those below. However, upon a lone cloud stood a blue Pegasus stood, her eyes closed and her wings flared out wide. To most she would seem to either be in deep thought or concentration, ready to perform a stunt or some complex work procedure with the local clouds remaining, but if you got a little closer, then you would notice the smile. Not her normal smile, no we are not talking about that, no bravado, no smirk, no competitive nature behind it at all, just...

Calm..

Rainbow Dash always loved this time of year, spring was just so hard to compare to the other seasons to her, she always enjoyed taking in her surroundings whenever she could during this time. The feeling of the wind blowing through her wings, every feather feeling the gentle gust, tingling and flowing through them, along with the wonderful scent it carried to her nose which always made her smile and be at ease. All of this was good and all to her, but the main thing was the view..

Even Rainbow would admit it was a wonderful, if not even beautiful sight to see.. though she may not physically say it, through her actions it would show she would agree. With the surrounding mountain range at the edge of her view for miles around, the proud city of Canterlot overlooking it all, a shining beacon of light always present in the distance. Between them and the peaceful village of Ponyville, the vast overflowing sea of the grasslands, flowers blooming all around in a wave of colours and scents casting an array of patterns in the fields below. The clear sky bringing out the wonderful weather to be able to enjoy such a sight and to even take part made it a good time for all too, be it personal or professional, ponies alike flourished during spring time so there was always something to do, Ponyville was a good example right about now, the ponies bustling about with their stalls and tasks below.

To most ponies this is spring time for them, but for rainbow there was one more thing which topped it all.

“..rainbow..”

It was something which a few years back she didn’t even think it was a possibility but here she is now.

“..Rainbow?..”

Thinking back to it just made her smile.

“Rainbow!?”

“Hmm?” Opening her eyes, Rainbows first view was the purple sparking eyes of a mare, floating in front of her. “Oh! Hey Twi.” Rainbow said, not even phased by how close she was, as the mare in front of her stared with a puzzled look on her face.

“Are you Ok Rainbow? You seemed to be distracted or something, weren't you going to train today?” Twilight said, tilting her head to the side as she pulled back allowing her some space.

Rainbow looked up towards her and chuckled sitting down “I have been for most of the day," She trailed off looking back down to the world below "I was just thinking, that’s all.”

“You thinking?” Twilight said, smirking slightly as she hovers over to her side, checking the cloud with a hoof before landing gently next to her.

Rainbow waves her hoof dismissively with a slight smile on her face, pulled back to look at twilight as she settles next to her.
“Yeah, Yeah, I know but.. I was just giving myself a check to make sure this all did really happen.” Rainbow sat down on the cloud, turning herself towards twilight as she smiled, taking a hoof in her hand as she relaxed.

“What do you mean?” Twilight kept her gaze to rainbow, always enjoying the time she can just sit and be with her at times like this, though still curious but enjoying the comfort she was getting from rainbow. “Well, I do think I understand what you mean, I still find days though where I feel like it was all a dream.”

Glancing over at Twilight, grinning she moved her muzzle close to her hear and whispered “Need me to give you a nip so you know it isn't?”
Blushing, Twilight pushed her away swatting her with her wing and giggling “Trust me Dashie, I know this isn't a dream.” She smiled looking back at her happily as she remembered too.

Rainbow moved a bit closer towards her, her grin slowly changing back to a smile of contentment “it’s just... nice to remember back and all.”

“I’m glad you think back to then too,” Twilight smiled back at Rainbow and moved forward, nuzzling and resting her head along the crook of her neck with her horn pointing safely away. “At least it’s been quiet since then, which was a lot of craziness at once.”

“If you exclude discord and pinkie being themselves,” Rainbow says, chuckling and rolling her eyes “Sometimes It’s hard to compare things to them when we aren't sure what they will both do next.”

“Good Point, remind me to find a better way to level their.” Twilight trails off, tapping her chin trying to think of a good way to describe them both as a whole.
“Find a better way to rate them?” Rainbow suggested closing her eyes as she rests her muzzle upon the top of twilight's head.

“I guess that will do...” Twilight hums trailing off, feeling the warmth from Rainbow sooth and calm her.

Enjoying their time alone together, no words needed just the company of one another allows their minds to wander. Twilight content to just relax and enjoy her time together with rainbow as times like this were always welcomed. Rainbow on the other hand still was in thought about the past, remembering back fondly to the time when this all first started, not just when they became mare-friends but before then when everything really first started.

From when she wasn't even sure she liked the mare she now holds close to her heart.
Let’s Go back and see what happened...
