Another great chapter. I feel sorry for Sandy and hope she can become redeemed in her father's eyes one day...but the Wasteland is rarely so forgiving.
Hope the next chapter comes soon; want to see what Caltrop has been up to.

I'm glad you enjoyed the chapter! I'll be putting up a new blog post when I start work on the next one, so keep an eye out for it!
Huh. Never thought much about the horn spiral, so it's kinda neat to see it come up in a fic. I wonder if the clockwise/counterclockwise orientation of the spiral means anything to a pony.
Huh. And here I was figuring that if anything, scars would make a pony look more powerful. With the abundance of magic that can cure injuries such that they look like it never happened, I figured scars would probably only be left for injuries that were so bad that it's impressive that the victim survived at all! ...And then I realized it also might imply that one simply might not have had the funds to afford a pony who knows how to remove scars. Dunnoe.
hot. smak dat [...] aw yis.
This exchange kept confusing me over and over until I realized she meant that StormHumper would be giving up PonyCap as a slave, and that that is why she would supposedly be getting past said defenses.
SPLAP.
“Do you need my help, friend?”
Fun timing. +1 laughter point.
Oh hey, she probably got her first level up now! Or... something. Though I guess there might not be any EXP for accidental kills unless it concludes a storyline quest. ...Or maybe she leveled up while hunting for food. Ommynommynom.
Penalty to sneak (because incredibly bright and easy to see stand-out-y color). Penalty to fire elemental (because melty material). Excessive bonus to water elemental resistance (because +200 year old equestrian raincoats probably were enchanted with Weatherproof lvl1 for protection of more area than the actual garmet would allow naturally. Or. Something).
I can sympathize with that a bit. Not a fun feeling.
Once stabbed a guy in high school with a Pilot Pen for intentionally exploiting one of my phobias. Wasn't really my plan. Not even sure what was running through my mind at the time other than the fear from being startled. And then there's all the shouting and people demanding explanations and punishments and whatnot.
Funnily enough, the very same phobia- over the course of some years of trying to deal with it on my own- turned into one of my favorite fantasy themes. And while still not an entirely comfortable thing for me to encounter in public, the discomfort is for different reasons these days. Quiet discomfort and longing is much easier to deal with then panic, though!
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this kind of statement, but it may just be up to the worldview of PlayerCharacter/PrettyClop/PoppinCrush.
Then she'd just have other urges to deal with. But I suppose most people have these kind of fantasies now and then.
Is that supposed to have a ! and .?
My kneejerk reaction was that this is really silly kind of morality blame-passing, but I've definitely said similar things when consoling friends.
While I don't have anything in particular to say about her particular way of interacting with her conscience, I appreciate that it exists.
Dodger and Sandy, huh? I'm reminded of The Artful Dodger. Googlefu time!
I SEE. THANKS TO THE POWER OF GOOGLE FU I HAVE FIGURED OUT THE ENTIRE SUPER SECRET SANDY SIDEPLOT! Sandy has a hidden special talent for throwing rocks with ridiculous velocity and accuracy which she never knew about for lack of need to perform the action prior to joining PC. Shortly after discovering her talent she wakes up overnight with a mysteriously irremovable magical collar with diamonds on it and the ID tag has a picture of a rock engraved into it. Of course it's the left arm that's the throwing arm and the right that's the cutting arm and mixing that order up is bad. END OF THEORY
Or naivety. Bravery and naivety are easy to mix up from the outside perspective. And when it's the latter, the one performing the act usually won't be aware they're being naive anyway. Perceivable effect is the same: Confronting that which one is or should be afraid of.
TtS reads the sound kinda like "Barkskee" which was neat. Yay, Squee!
LET'S GET DANGEROUS. (inb4 that becomes a battlecry)
I guess I already talked about this segment a few quotes ago. Still. Interesting thought. Kinda have to wonder WHY Equestria is like that. But if we're gonna try to make extensions of MLPFiM should we use the same logic the show is built off of? Why do ponies have cutie marks? The real reason is because it makes for much easier merchandising. Same mold, even same colors. Change the mark and you have an excuse for a new toy. Probably works the same for irremovable collars.
And now I ponder where her familiarity with honey comes from.
Lawl. +3 laughter points.
Interesting. PC's pondering too about the question of if eating ponies is OK also fits in the interesting category.
I'm imagining The Old Dogs as an organization of dedicated elder hounds in white cloaks that hold classes and organize training sessions and whatnot for those who will come, and are often the ones used for council when the others are unsure what to do.
NOM. OMMYNOM. nonomnmmmonomnomMUNCHnomgulpnom.
And then her small frame was unable to handle the Dash. And then hot bed tuckings happened. Something something sugar and high protein diet.

I spent about two hours writing that silliness. Next time I'll probably keep more brief. :n

So I wake up and see all this, and my first reaction is *Flailsohmygodfeedback!* Time for answers!
You know, I'm not sure if clockwise/counterclockwise does mean anything, but everyone forgets about the spiral. I just figured that for as much as every unicorn gets hit in the horn, I would try to mention it when relevant!
Yeah, I figured that a pony with more scars would be assumed as getting into lots of bad situations. As you said, with healing magic the way it is, scars form from fairly bad injuries, and when you have a lot of them, you can be seen as always being an inch away from death. All it takes is the one idiot who thinks he can be the one to push you that last inch and you've got trouble.
Sorry about the confusing context! I'll try to phrase things like that better in the future.
Well, I kind of cheated when I thought her up and created her at level 2. Only because for some reason Hellhounds don't get the Burrow perk right off the bat.
It's funny, I used the yellow vest you drew her with as the inspiration behind it. Now that I look at it, it would be an issue above ground for how bright it is. Good thing she's a hard target to hit!
That is quite a coincidence, seeing as I too once stabbed a kid in grade school with a pencil for making fun of me for the hundredth time. The best thing about it was he called me up a few years ago and apologized for all the bullying he had done back then.
It's just how PC's mind views everything. Between her mother constantly talking about how she want's grandkids, and her own experiences growing up, she feels awkward ignoring a sad child.
This was intended to be a more 'The grass is greener...' type of suggestion. Seeing as there are very few Stallions and Mares who genderswap in Fo:E.
Fixed! Thanks for finding that!
Yeah, well for PC, blaming somepony else comes easily. She's had to rationalize killing so many ponies over the years, and it eventually just came down to where she figured it not her fault anymore. They chose to run, they committed the wrong, and PC was just correcting the wrong was all.
Everyone hates those nagging feelings about the things they do. PC just deals with it by swearing and getting angry at herself!
Funny you should mention that. It was part of my original concept for Caltrop (as referenced by the fact he grew up a child theif) because it mixed so well with a personality like PC. I ultimately changed his personality of course, but thought the rogue elements of his past should be kept in!
As we saw, PC doesn't view it as naivety, but stubbornness in seeing that Sandy didn't listen to her words of warning.
You would think then that every creature would be the same way then, so they could increase their toy sales with more playsets or such. But there are an astounding lack of cutie marks on everything but Zebra's and Ponies! I know that this is most likely because Lauren Faust stated that only hoofed creatures would have evolved into intelligent beings, but it does bring up then the question of if the Diamond Dogs are intelligent, or why the Minotaurs and Buffalo are left out in this sense.
Fun fact: Honey is one of the best apocalypse preparation foods!
I always figured that Hellhound elders are too old to dig fast enough or fight well enough would be relegated to the task of teaching the pups the ins and outs of pack life.

I imagine Hasbro simply had no intention of making toys of those things, and so they were freely added to the animation since Hasbro had no reason not to allow them too. And as such, designing those additional creatures to be easily marketable was low priority. But that's just another level of speculation.
Sandy=child character of the group, scarred by some unfortunate event
Seems standard enough, I suppose.
