Ah! One of my all time favorite stories is now in fim fiction. Awesome owo

But that's Changelings. They don't count.
"I swear to Gawd" - Subtle, Reggie. Real subtle
You're on a stealth mission! You can just, y'know, put one of your weapons away and hold the tail in your claw
But... pre-war ponies were all vegetarians!
And yay, new Unity avoided! Though tbh, it might've been a rather okay ending that way as well...
I suspected these unicorns weren't any kind of "sacrifice". It wasn't needed; not with the new Template. He was just using them as bait all along. His scientists had already figured out the correct dosage; he didn't need anything more.

This. Oh so much this.
I wonder how many times Calamity had to stand guard duty at the hanger.
Also, I had not played New Vegas's DLC when I read this the first time and now that I have I UNDERSTAND ALL THE REFERENCES! The cloud, the broadcasters, the bomb collars linked to go off, *continues rambling on*

Uhm, I'm sorry to bump in here and break whatever conversation you guys are having, but I have a question that's probably been asked numerous times already:
Which is the best fan reading of this fic out there? I kinda don't feel like reading 600k+ words myself, but there isn't only one reading, so I don't know which is the best. Help plz?
I love the climax with Red Eye. That whole scene is fantastic.
Two chapters left...

In my opinion, its a mix of Scortch's reading and Razed Rambling's/ They both offer something good to the experience, Scortch is like listening to Ron Perlman reading to you, while Razed gives you an Austrailian Homage. They both have some great voices so it depends on what you want.
Great chapter!
3140065
I'd go with Rambling's one if it wasn't for the, frankly, terrible audio quality after the prologue. Also, he seems to be talki g with the speed of a moving train starting with that chapter (which doesn't quite help the fact that English isn't my primary language). Scorch's voice is overall more boring, but the audio isn't all that poppy and fuzzy, and he's also easier to understand, so I'll stick with him for now.
If nothing goes I might as well resort to just reading it, even though I don't really like the idea of that yet.
Thanks for the reply!
3140639
You're welcome.
To tell you the truth, an audio read was how I got through this story for the first time. Now what I did with that was that I listened to Scortch all the way to ch 25. Then I listened to Razed, I think he gets really good around 26 by that time.
“And some say,” the third blurted out, “that Discord was released by the war, but he was so weakened that he’s now just an itty-bitty spirit running around the Equestrian Wasteland putting ammo and bottlecaps into random containers!”
That explains EVERYTHING!!
I love Little Pip's speech, it shows why she is a hero and Red Eye isn't. I also love how Little Pip's speech basically sumed up one of the better meanigs of FIM right there.
One thing I do have to say Red Eye...YOU FORGOT SHE COULD USE TK LIKE A BOSS?! Really how could he do that? I mean, you knew of her skills you researched, how could you forget that!!! That's like forgetting Superman is strong, or Batman is smart. That is not something you forget!
3139469
The only complete one is by Crazed Rambling, but it starts out a little rough. Personally, I listened to Scorch's, and after a few chapters switched to Crazed. Both are great.
3138687
Nah, just most of them. Pinkie talks about eating meat, we see meat used in food a couple times, and hamburgers were a staple food in previous generations. This, combined with the fact that horses will include meat in their diets on occasion kinda eliminates the whole "all ponies are vegetarians" thing.
I imagine ponies living around griffins would be more inclined to being omnivores. And the book might be a griffin cookbook for those that are trying to adjust to living among a primarily vegetarian society.
3143235
Griffins are a combination of 2 carnivores though... not sure if they can physically digest many vegetables
For the last three chapters:

rEASON 2346245620 THIS FIC MAKES ME CRY ALL OF THE TEARS

no but the fact that this explanation makes perfect sense, also makes the random shit in drawers make sense, and still work with reformed discord, is just too freakin awesome
also also lol
no but im imagining chibi red eye squirming helplessly and its sorta adorable????
also the entire fucking thing with the turtle/tortoise jokes and all that
it's just great XD
So now that we've gotten past some of the quotes from these three chapters that I love, I'd like to take a brief moment to discuss Autumn Leaf. More specifically, Littlepip killing Autumn Leaf.
I really do think you could make a case for that murder being the most despicable thing Littlepip does in this entire story. Sure, you've got Arbu; you've got a bunch of the random little incidents she continually brings up when she thinks about all the bad shit she's done. But when she kills Autumn Leaf, not only does she completely renege on a promise she made, she then proceeds to murder a completely helpless stallion. Of course, he's also a monster, more or less. But that really doesn't change the fact that she was really just completely dishonorable--something that is really kinda surprising, at least coming from Littlepip.
Okay, past that, I'd just like to take a moment of silence for Red Eye, who is like the best fucking villain ever. Your death was not nearly awesome enough, dude.
And also for Doc Glue, who, while also a terrible person, swears in a fashion arguably even more amusing than our heroine.
Finally, I'm not sure I entirely believe Littlepip's assessment that she's actually Applesnack. I mean, sure, they have some similarities, but the Red Eye / Littlepip thing is basically perfect. Citation needed, I'd say!
That's that, I believe. Stayed up far too late playing catch-up on these chapters, but, oh well. Nothing for it!
I... Believe... that we only have two numbered chapters left, right? Galvanize and The Virtue of Littlepip?
In any case, on to the conclusion! Tears of sadness shall be shed, as will tears of laughter.
God, this fic is so freakin' amazing.
aLSO WHOA JUST WENT BACK TO THE TOP OF THE CHAPTER AND MIND IS PRESENTLY EXPLODING BECAUSE THIS CHAPTER IS A LOOP WHAT

Amen to that. Hell, his plan for ascension might even have worked!

This is my favourite chapter in the story. The scene with Red Eye, Colonel Autumn and Littlepip in the Ascension chamber is AMAZING. In stories like this, the villains have less combat experience than the soldiers you kill by the handful and yet still manage to survive this long and challenge you. This scene pulls it off perfectly. Red Eye is one of my favourite characters in this fic, alongside Calamity, and overall villain up there with Spell Nexus. This fandom is able to create such amazing villains. Can anyone reading this say they weren't rooting for Red Eye a little?
SPOILER
The spoiler on the next chapter will not be a spoiler.
Some say that Sweetie Belle is stupid. But she's just unfocused. If you're willing to wait while she takes the long way around, or if you can get her to concentrate, she'll surprise you with how perceptive she is.
Never change, Littlepip. Never stop making such crazy ambitious plans.
Hostile company usually does not introduce itself with a polite cough.
Though that would be an amazing way to start a sneak attack, if you could pull it off.
That's how most of the best plans start. Trouble is, that's also how most of the worst plans start.
Don't be so melodramatic. Worst case, you'll both be dead within a century or two, and then you can look each other up in the afterlife. Reminisce over old times, and all that.
Beware the robot upraisin!
Ow. I just punched myself in the face.
No. You have not yet really been set on fire by a dragon. And you do not yet really know what pain is.
Hello, Lion. It's nice to meet you.
It's not how we do things when we don't have to. Just because we can't always hold a principle doesn't mean we can't ever hold it.
I don't remember for sure, but I suspect that you're wrong. Red Eye is pretty good at playing ponies.
Here's a question: who published that? Actually, first, another question: who made those pre-war hot dogs that Calamity's brothers kept force-feeding him? Neither is something you'd expect to find in such a herbivorous nation. And on the flip side, now only in reference to the book, I doubt it's physically possible for griffons or diamond dogs to live on a purely vegetarian diet.
After much consideration of Littlepipisms, I decided this was my favorite of all.
Oh. You're alive?
Eh, give it a century or two, I'll be right sooner or later.
Who says they don't collaborate?
There's no time like the present. And he needs Autumn.
Just one of the many things you can thank raiders for.
A little foreshadowing . . .
And a reference to The Glass Blower, if I'm not mistaken.
Red Eye was always good at making a point.
It would hardly behoove him to prevent one of the key elements of his plan from arriving to the meeting on time.
Was that not clear?
It was a good plan. He very nearly set things up so that Littlepip could do nothing but join the new Unity. He played her like a violin. He just forgot one thing . . .
I dunno, I think this is shippable . . . it's valid to ship you two as kismesises, right? Trolls, ponies, Homestuck, Fallout, it's all the same, right?
Anyway, for a dysfunctional family you've sure accomplished a lot.
He is used to working alone. The thought patterns are hard to break.
Even the best-laid plans look foolish when just one fact slips your mind.
You are your own pony. Though you can probably be approximated pretty well with the right mix of Red Eye, Applesnack, and Calamity.
And that's the penultimate battle down. Time for your final challenge.
Am I the only one who found that Red Eye was a good guy ?
I VOLUNTEER AS TEMPLATE
One problem I see.
I would volunteer, but I gain nothing from being THAT Goddess. I just lose my body, and I like my body.
3144645
Me? Not quite. For a long time I've found him somewhat empathetic. As Littlepip "says," his goal is great but his methods are... distasteful.
I can agree with, or accept, "no matter the cost" and "end justifies the means" mentalities/situations--in theory--in some cases, but... The way things are framed, I in no way hold Red Eye's plan over Littlepip's--better for ponies/people to 'mature'/become better themselves, and embrace friendship and all, than to need a mutant deity making them be good.
If we take the season four canon into consideration, then Littlepip just destroyed the Tree of Harmony. Nice job breaking it, hero.
Oh Littlepip, every time you say that, something goes wrong... Though it actually was a stealth mission.
Can't get the mental image out of my head...
Hmm, nothing says "We're fucked" more than that...
Maybe both?
So, he wasn't half the hellhound he used to be?
When it's said that Dr. Glue's cutie mark is a blasphemy, does that mean that it was a curse word (due to his frequent swearing), or that it depicted something horrific (due to the gruesome experiments)? Cause it seems that it could go either way. Or is it left for the reader to figure out?
“Forgot you might do that,” he admitted. He sighed again, giving me a plaintive look. “Why?”
This guy has actually made me smile a few times in this story, but this might be his funniest moment.
Also:
“And some say,” the third blurted out, “that Discord was released by the war, but he was so weakened that he’s now just an itty-bitty spirit running around the Equestrian Wasteland putting ammo and bottlecaps into random containers!”
...This makes too much sense. Adapting headcanon for all cases in which things are found in places they probably shouldn't be.
3388352 Good intentions does not equal to Good Guy. It's the road you walk to get there. (Not to mention Redeye was a terrible dinner guest.)
That explains so much, it's that or the Old World had a serious cola drinking problem.
Shit. I laughed.
Father Elijah would be proud, nothing promotes teamwork and cooperation like explosives!
The place references go to die!
Nothing beats a final showdown verses the good, the bad and the ugly in a battle to the death!... by talking. This is what 100 speech characters were made for. A shame in Fallout 3 it was too easy to do the right thing during the main quest, while in NV you were never really in control of your destiny with the fractions. Just chose one and follow orders! Why can't I call people out for their flaws and demand some change? The DLCs were better as they were smaller and more contained, meaning you had more control.
And so the crack ship of the century was born there and then. I really can't imagine what would happen if they were forced to shack up for a year in isolation. My mind is trying to wander but it's failing oh so bad.
the thrumming of its thunderclouds rumbling against hull
Or worse. there was enough blood in that room
“Calamity? Colonel Autumn Leaf turned towards the window
1. The thrumming of its thunderclouds rumbling against the hull.
2. Forgot to capitalise.
3. Forgot your closing quotation mark.
So in the end, Red Eye still wanted to be a God. And apparently wanted to be with LilPip... ohgodwhydidthatpopintomyheadlikethat...
I'll admit that it's getting harder to pull up some insightful comments in the later chapters but that's what the later chapters are for I guess, to build up for the finale for one massive comment. If your mind wasn't blown before then that is. But just to recap on the Elements...
Magic - ???
Kindness - Velvet
Loyalty - Calamity
Honesty - Homage
Laughter - Ditzy
Generosity - ???
I feel like I'm missing two ponies... yet LilPip with her trusty PipLeg says that the pieces are in place... I just strangely want to see her bathe in radiation just for the heck of it.
I still can't get the Red Eye x LilPip ship that was introduced here. What in the glorious anal blasting Celestia did you shove into my head kkat? It's glorious
one question, did the kids survive?
Advance warning: This comment has spoilers for the end of FoE. Skip this comment if you haven't finished it.
I feel like it's high time I commented on something unique that this story did to me. See, for as much as I absolutely loved reading Fallout: Equestria, and for the ideas that have sprung into my head since, and for my utter inability to get it out of my head...
...I almost didn't finish the story. I almost stopped reading right here:
Early on, I caught myself trying to think ahead of the story, applying what I remembered about Fallout 3's story, even though it had been a long time. But Fallout: Equestria quickly proved to be its own beast, in such a way that I forgot all about parallels to the games, until this moment. Right here my brain put the pieces together, remembering Project Purity, and suddenly I thought I knew that this was going to end in Littlepip's death. This line broke my goddamn heart, because I thought that for all the pain and hardship she'd gone through, Littlepip was going to die at the end.
And I actually stopped reading. After binging 43 chapters in a couple weeks, I put the story down for a few days, because I cared so much about these characters that I didn't want to see that happen to her. It was worse than Homage's broadcast after Arbu.
Of course, in spite of my dread, I did finish the story. Even if I expected the worst, I had to know. While it may have been a bittersweet ending, there was still something there for Littlepip. She could still talk to her friends, she found Celestia, and of course, she got to tell her story, and a wonderful, emotional story it was. It's probably been said to death by now, but once more won't hurt: bravo for writing such a fantastic story.
Life Bloom is too much like Arcade Gannon it kinda made it obvious what his, how to say, preference was.
Stable I.M.P stages huh? Well, Littlepip must equally as indestructible or more than Steelhooves by now. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Littlepip is truly a reflection of Applesnack. Personality. Nearly invincible. Lovers of Honesty, yet not enforcers of it. Overkilledness (The smallest is a walking arsenal!). Their regrets.
I swear to Gawd that this story is darker than any book, any movie, or any game that has ever existed. Mostly because there is never a win without loss, and kids are not graced with plot armor, and they die like the rest of the ponies.
3143252
Pretty much every single thing that Autumn Leaf has done has hurt ponies and has been dishonorable. He really doesn't deserve a single speck of honor or mercy.Actually, I think that Littlepip shooting him is mercy compared to what the Enclave might do. And to be honest, I don't think anyone would wince or scold me if I were to shit and spit on the grave of Hitler. Well, maybe if I did it in public.
4630377
I think the horribly dark realism of the wasteland is one of the greatest things about FoE.

3137924 Cloudsdale is a breeding ground for racism. Like Canterlot (unicorns) and Manehatten(earth pony). They are all equal in my book. Burn them all.
Protects and educates children, imports stain glassed windows from places filled with poison, and cybernetically enhances and enslaves dragons. If he weren't such an evil and misguided jerk I just might think Red Eye was awesome.
Congratulations. You're the new Trenderhoof!

Don't care if it's not the correct instruments, I had to start playing the Imperial March when I read that
I almost expected Autumn Leaf to say "I ship it."
...
What!? I know they are both incredibly gay, but if one swings that way the other can too. There might not be love, but they would make a great set of parents. Dysfunctional, but still able to work together and raise the best children in the world. I really do think so.
LOVE this bit. For some reason I thought of Steelhooves at this point, maybe it's the voice and the fact that it's a Canterlot Ghoul. Love the feeling of how this guy could have his own story from surviving Canterlot's destruction to avenging his comrades
Can you imagine Littlepip and Red Eye raising kids? The most awkward family in Equestra.
Also, Red Eye should be a lawyer, he would never lose.
The reign of Red Eyes has finally come to an end. However, I'm wondering what Stern is going to do because this has left quite the power vacuum. Not much is left anymore. I'm... nervous and a little excited.
Coronel Autumn Leaf sir! the whole aft end of the ship is gone
