I'm sorry... I didn't know you were unaware of that, really. I thought that, since we were discussing Fluttershy's fate, you were merely re-reading the fic and had just forgotten some facts. I didn't mean to spoil thte whole thing for you, and that's why I put a spoiler tag.
I'm only three chapters in, but I am absolutely in love! This is better then most of the actual books I've read lately. Consider me a fan!
I love to hate you Redeye...I really do.
Also, I failed to comment on this before, but I love it when Steelhooves comments on Little Pip's wanderlust. Why? Because it is such a good wink to the games. After all, when we play the games, we naturally want to explore everything, especially when it is an open world because that is how we get spells, money, and exp. However, the companions are always just along for the ride and will follow you not matter what. So, what must they be thinking when they see you head off somewhere stupid?

I've seen lots of people refer to 'the games'. Sometimes it seems to be referring to the Fallout games, but then there's comments like yours, that mention magic and the like, and it makes me wonder: what games are you talking about? Pen and paper games? Video games in general? Is there an actual Fallout: Equestria game? I know there was that FO:E mod being made for Fallout 3 a while back, but I haven't heard anything about that in forever.
3028179
Actually, I have heard that there is a pen and paper style game for FOE.
But anyway, When I was referring to the games, I was talking about video games in general. Especially those where you are traveling with a companion or a party.
3028217
Yeah, I've heard about the pen and paper FO:E game, but I don't have any local friends who'd be willing to try it, lol. Which sucks, because it sounds like it'd be great fun. I think Kkat herself runs an FO:E pen and paper game. I wonder if any of those campaigns will end up in fanfic form, some day...
3028225
I wish there were a way for Fo:E fans to play across the world. But yeah, I don't know how that can be possible.
3028683
Probably the same way people play D&D over the internet, lol.
... I should actually look into that.
3028686
If you find out something about such a way to play, let me know, please.
Excellent
3028854 there is this site http://roll20.net/. Can't say how good it is but it seems OK

What timing! Check out my new blog post for more information.

Wow. Thank you for sharing that! I was kinda hoping for such a game, but was unaware that it already existed, and had a neat, albeit huge, set of rules.
Now to finish re-reading Fo:E, then comprehend those rules, have a free weekend - and I think I will join all of you Fo:E role-playing people in the glorious land of Equestrian Wasteland.
static.funpic.hu/_files/pictures/original/64/51/45164.gif
And the weekend is over, but this story reminds me that 200 years into the Apocalypse ponies love the main six of My Little Pony.
Is this meant to be like 'Stalingrad' or something else?
This chapter has been a veritable goldmine of delicious quotes. The entire story has been, sure, but this one in particular? Outstanding.
I laughed most heartily at both of these. The latter, most definitely, shows that Lilpip certainly hasn't lost her way with words.
Homage will certainly be happy, considering her girlfriend is such a cunning linguist.
Gotcha. Take magical toxins, radiation, and Diamond Dog? You get the bastard child of an Ork and a Deathclaw.
3060233
Yep.
I'm guessing that's the "rocks fall; everyone dies" of this world? Lol.
SPOILERS
Velvet's special talent is singing. And not being caged. Not singing about not being caged, though. Don't be silly, that's too specific.
Sometimes I get the weirdest feeling that I wasn't supposed to buy into Red Eye's propaganda. But then I dismiss that silly thought. How could one not believe Red Eye intends to rebuild Equestria, by whatever means necessary? How could one not see that he means every word he broadcasts? And how could one not recognize that his plan is a much safer, albeit less pleasant, strategy than Littlepip's? I may not like all his methods, but I'd much rather have him than nopony at all with greater dreams. Sometimes, I lay awake at night, and I worry about what would have been had Littlepip taken down Red Eye, then fallen herself, either to some foe or to fear and temptation. She could have single-hoofedly extended Equestria's dark age for who knows how long as the land waited for another hero either talented and lucky enough or ruthless enough to save it. But then I remind myself that by Red Eye's death, the heroism movement had gained enough momentum to carry on without her, and though I know this was merely good fortune rather than a conscious choice to hedge her bets, I am relieved.
I mentioned my random thought that I had last election season, right? "'Red Eye/Stern 2012: Sacrifice today for a better tomorrow.' I'd vote for that." And did I ever mention my opinion that Littlepip is the hero the Wasteland wants, but Red Eye is the hero it deserves. Or possibly the one it needs. I can never quite decide where to draw the line between those two concepts.
a) You're only not frightening to those who don't know who you are and those who believe you consider them allies. Which is probably most ponies; it's not like Homage is broadcasting pictures of you over the radio. But that's beside the point.
b) Hellhounds are unequivocally frightening. They can dig like there's nothing there at all, have claws that cut through everything like it's warm butter, are frequently armed with magical energy weapons collected from pre-war facilities, are very much sapient, and never forgave ponies for evicting them from their tunnels during the war. Not something you'd want to meet in a dark alley (for the fraction of a second between when the hellhound comes out of the ground and when you become dead).
Well, obviously. Otherwise why would you follow her?
You should feel bad. Not a lot bad, but you should feel a little bad.
Okay, I admit I was going a little hyperbolic with "every word he broadcasts." I don't think alicorns lack cutie marks because the Goddess chooses otherwise, and I don't think Red Eye thinks so either. But the rest of that is far from nonsense; many ponies do allow their flanks to shackle them. And they don't even need to have other ponies discriminate to do it; they'll happily restrict themselves to what they perceive as their one and only destiny. 'Tis rather unfortunate.
Old and decrepit.
I'll have you know it is a perfectly good plan.
Well, is it strange to marvel in near-orgasmic glee when you have a hover robot? I don't care if it's programmed to do nothing but pick up my food and dump it on my head, it's still awesome.
It's funny how much "the right thing" even within a single pony's mind depends on who is taking the action. From first principles, you'd think the effects it has on the external world would dominate the evaluation, and the effects on the pony taking the action would be negligible in comparison, but it really doesn't work out that way.
No, no, no. It's the epitome of underrated. Something so common as to be dismissed as pedestrian by most, thus preventing them from recognizing just how useful it is, both in ways they take for granted and in ways they have never imagined.
I mentioned how I thought for a while that being incredible at levitation was enough to qualify you as Magic, right?
Isn't "next adventure" your little attempt to infiltrate Fillydelphia? Alone? Not that Calamity doesn't do anything useful during that time, mind you, but he's not doing it with you.
But Littlepip is not nearly so wasteful as to toss aside a perfectly good friend, especially one who knows his virtue. You can't buy one of those for all the bottlecaps in a Sparkle-Cola factory.
The reason you found Little Macintosh in that Ironshod factory, as a peace offering. The reason Steel Rangers ceased to be invulnerable juggernauts. Quite scary, indeed.
You know you want to.
You know you want to.
And I bet you're close enough to Fillydelphia that Homage wouldn't see. Everypony wins! Except Velvet. And eveypony else who ends up involved in any way, probably. Nopony wants to be mixed up in that sort of scandal.
Kind of sad that you've got a vice that keeps almost getting you killed, and it's no big deal in comparison to the one that you got help to break.
There came an era when the ideals of friendship gave way to paranoia . . .
Even had the megaspells not fallen, I fear Equestria would not have been easily restored. 'Twas not balefire that first destroyed the land we know and love.
To smarm and scheme and try to increase his power with political maneuvering. Was that not clear? Probably no more clear than it was clear to him that you would be having none of that.
Let that be a lesson: take care of your Ministry, and have it fumigated regularly, or who knows what could start infesting it.
AJ got one. 'Shy will get one too, in time, though in her case the unhappy middle was rather long.
How can you not be attracted to Red Eye's ideals? Do they not sound worth some sacrifices?
Im past the highway by half!
3028152 something like 'oh damn, not again.'
I deal with the same problem at my school.
It needs Life-Alert!
3757158 But....I was gonna make that joke.

Sorry, beat ya to it. Your profile picture matches the mood of your reply.
It's virtually the same as President Eden's broadcast, but for some reason Red Eye's speeches make me angrier. Maybe it's because he's saying this while standing over a city of worked-to-death slaves. Slavery tends to be my rage trigger.
I'm surprised that Red eye hasn't purged the Raiders from Fillydelphia's walls yet. Clean up your own backyard right? Littlepip's going to find a horror house in town, and she's gonna get kidnapped, again.
So I'm guessing Canterlot is where all the alicorns are made right? And that balefire bomb from the Belle farm's gonna turn what's left of Canterlot into radioactive dust right? I have not read that far yet but I can't wait! Also, does she get another companion soon? I saw art work with a zebra on the team...I'm beating s/he is gonna work energy weapons and maybe nuclear magic. <excited >
Played a lot of Bioshock, have we? There was also a WYK reference that I couldn't refind, but it's there.
Bloody hell! That's a lot to drop at once on a person! And 24 chapters in too! I wouldn't have know there was an apocalypse till then! It's all beginning to make sense. I was wondering why everyone was dead or unhappy... Also explains the lack of ponies going to take a basket of cakes to grandmother's house on Sunshine Corner.
I get the feeling little pip will have to work with raiders again to take down Red Eyes.
The stairwell down lead to a set of offices adjacent to a break room
I I thought I had it the third time
The hallway lead past bathrooms on one side
1. Led.
2. Extra I.
3. Led.
Ahh Red Eye... Every story of heroism needs their antagonist, more so in a universe like Fallout where it's a dog eat dog world. But I think so far what makes him the worst compared to the rest is not the fact that he's broadcasting this ideals for a better future or working together just to survive is the fact that he's a hypocrite.
Past chapters already established that he used slaves for work (albeit not said aloud) and he's preaching of ponies who laze back and do nothing while the hard workers do the work. If that isn't hypocrisy then I don't know what is.
But another fact would be (so far unestablished as of this chapter) is whether or not he is aware of his hypocrisy. Those that are unaware at least have a chance to realize what they are doing and possibly, set things right. In comparison to those who are aware of it and continue to do so either believe that they have to continue because they either believe it's the only way or they're in denial.
Hmm... You have a point 4401542 however from the memory orb containing the CMC, it's also clear they wanted to do some tests especially on the stables. Which makes me wonder, how much time did they have left before Dday came? I guess the exact time would have been moot since it probably would have taken longer to possibly implement the safety measures. Oh well.
Sorry 4407249 for spoiling a few pivot points of the story for you though I'm wondering on why you decided that checking the newer comments would have been a better idea, not complaining but just enquiring. If you don't mind that is
I like the way Redeye's broadcasts aren't irredeemably evil and are even tempting. Redeye pulls ponies in by offering some genuinely good ideas mixed with charisma, but the thing is, those ideas are taken to extremes far past what is right. I could support him if I was convinced that his plan was the only way. He tells us that too many ponies let themselves be shackled by their cutie marks and I don't doubt it. He tells us that we shouldn't stand for ponies who bring about destruction through greed and selfishness, which I can agree with. But he then goes on too tell us that all who are not in his pseudo-religious group will be eliminated; that ponies must destroy their cutie marks; he fails to tell just how very oppressed and subjugated the ponies under him are, and doesn't acknowledge that the slavers are every bit as bad as the raiders he despises and more so. He defines "slave" in a twisted way to try to cover up all the vast cruelty and torture and makes it sound as if being virtuous and accountable and being a slave are mutually exclusive. And what if he succeeds? His path carries the grave risk of developing into corporate tyranny with little care for the livelihoods of the populace. While it is possible for his followers abandon it later on, the ponies who survive would be accustomed to cruelty and authoritarianism. His plan is one in which the ones who claim to be fighting for Equestria are/will be the ones truly being greedy, lazy, and selfish. And besides, Redeye has shown us to be prejudiced before. Redeye might be the pony the wasteland deserves, but forgiveness and mercy are virtues and Pip is the one it should have.
I'm trying to imagine this now. Great chapter as always.
3784739 Whats with the Premium Muffin thing? I nu get it.
4571278 Makes him seem a lot like Megatron or Galbatorix that way.
Red Eye makes me cringe so hard! I understand his views. I even agree with a few of them. But just the way he talks about it. The way he manipulates the working class in such an obvious manner. It reminds me of exactly how those views went HORRIBLY wrong.
He should definitely watch out for them...
Take me down
To the Paradise City
Where the grass is green
And the girls are pretty
Apparently some engineer liked the sight of ponies falling from the catwalk into vats full of some strange goo that was turning them into supervillains.
Someone's been a cutie mark crusader in their youth...
That mental image...
Probably in case zebras would send a spy hidden in coal...
My first thought:
img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130819054952/teen-titans-go/images/f/f9/Mask-weapons-guns-swords-from-movies.jpg
Hmm, a guy with two Big Funny Guns and a guy with even bigger freaking guns? I guess she'd at least hear them if they were caught.
"If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face forever."
3789319 you stole the joke from me too... actually meh who cares im to tired to care *passes out*
4886146 My comparison would be to Andrew Ryan from Bioshock. Red Eye even talks about the chains of industry. He could be a Bioshock villain, how he takes a good ideal too far until it becomes more evil than the alternative.
You did the one thing I don't think any other AU/Crossover story I've seen was able to do.
You gave the main character a reason to feel connected to the Mane 6. Normally, any other story wouldn't need that. It's an MLP story, of course the reader (and by extension, the author) would feel connected to the Mane 6. That inherent interest and connection would feel natural, and comfortable.
You fostered a distance between Lilpip and the Mane 6, and then you bridged that distance in a real and logical way. You were able to stand back and realize that Lilpip didn't have the same connection to the show's characters that we the readers did. But that connection needs to be felt, be it in the form of ire and hatred, or warm-hearted nostalgia.
You bridged a gap made by your own doing, in order to establish a connection we didn't know we needed in order to feel invested in the story.
Bravo, KKat. Bravo.
For some reason it just feels right to read all of Red Eye's lines in President Eden's voice.
5610965 I'm reading it in Doctor Leonard Church's voice, from Red vs. Blue.
This is both incredible interesting and incredibly creepy compared to the new Season 5 opener...
I hereby declare Kkat the next great Oracle of Delphi!
5649458 its interchangeable; I tell you hwat.
5610965 i see Red Eye more as Ashur from The Pitt DLC so I cant help but read his lines in Ashurs voice
Ever since I listened to the Radio Show of this, I can't help but hear Nowaking's impression of LittlePip whenever she speaks, now.
I love this story!
Oh my god lmao I fucking love Velvet, she's without a doubt my favorite character! She can be so hilarious and melodramatic sometimes
I literally said "oh shit" aloud at this point upon realizing that these were the ponies who would plot to assassinate AJ! :O
For some reason I imagine Red Eye sounding like Zsasz from Batman Arkham City. Don't know why really, he just has a kind of creepy, preachy voice.
6269697 I'm thinking of Scarecrow from Arkham knight
Deathclaws- Check
The Pitt- check
Vertibirds- nope
Ponified Liberty Prime- please god, answer my prayer
