EEEEEEEEE YAY!
This has to be one of the best fics i've read so far, and you have no idea how hard it is for me to say this,
but I think this might beat out Rainbow factory and Pegasus device on my number one list.
Long story short, Awesome job
Damn. I've never read this story before, and to be honest, I had very little interest in doing so. But god f*cking damn it is this good! Makes me wanna give the first person perspective a try, among other things.
Damn this story is getting intense! Adore your writing style, might have to find this on EqDaily to keep reading XD
This story is so awesome, but the backstory, the history with the Mane Six and the war...It makes my blood run cold
At first I was just going to favourite this and thumb it up, but deciding to re-read it was a fantastic idea, I'm really enjoying it again!
Huh... I've always heard of Fallout : Equestria and I never really decided to look into it. (Same deal with all the other popular fics). But then my friend got me to read Project Horizons and I gotta say, the idea of it all really pops out to me. I've never played Fallout 3, never having the money to go buy it, but I got New Vegas and I was sold on the series. Even inspired me to write my own spin-off of Fallout : Equestria which I just started on yesterday. But lo and behold, I wake up, get on and I see this. So, my story can wait, this must be read.
Having bookmarked this story has made it easier for me to track along with the favourite since the chapter releases are pretty damn periodic which is nice.
Easy directions to this fic as 1,2,3!

I have a question, about the songs. Did you make up the lyrics on your own or did you adapt them from some 50's era songs ala the Fallout games?
Oh, and for those of you who have read this fic before, who here besides me felt like Yelling at Lil Pip to not take those Party-Time Ment-als? I was the whole time. On another note, I like the way that the stables were handled
Great!
I'm curious, now. Was it ever spelled out what GALLoPS stood for? I've searched through the whole story a few times before and never found it, and it bugs me that I might have missed a detail like that...

Less than 24 hours later...
Gotta say, this is pretty impressive for your first fanfic, kkat.
Seeing some writing errors tho, probably should proofread more.
And how many times has the main character been shot?? Might strain the suspension of disbelief if that keeps up.
................
bahahahahahaha
ok i'll stop
... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!! SQUEEEEEEE!!!
2934700 I think that Horizons, Pink Eyes, and hero's are good, but I like the Ditzy Doo chronicles.
Google Doc's HATES me, so you have NO IDEA how much joy this brings to me! Maybe Project Horizons will upload too.
2941083I can't stand GDocs.
I really like this "one chapter per day" pacing you have going on here. It makes it relaxing to reread.
2940278 It's still at the top of the What's Hot list, though.
2941289
Yeah, just pointing out that hindsight is a real bitch to comments like that one.
2941260 Me neither.
And may I say how weirded out your user name made me when it appeared in my notice box? I laughed at my ignorance when I figured it said "Nopony" insead of "nobody"
2941315 Eeyup. Not that any story can last in the Featured Box for long—for every day that passes the requirements for a story staying get exponentially greater. I wonder how long it'll take for FO:E to fall in the What's Hot list?
2941350
It'll depend on what else comes along, and on this site you can never predict when there's gonna be a drought of good stories and when you'll be swamped with them; could be days could be weeks before something moves FO: E from the top spot.
2941325It wouldn't be the first time someone has expressed humor or confusion at my username. I wouldn't be lying if that's part of the reason I chose this name.

*Psssst!*
You, and others who want to cheat! I got the goods right here man if you need your fics fix. None of that Gdocs crap, we've got the real good stuff.pdf here if you know what i'mma sayin'!
Check it:

2941426 You are an absolute genius.
2941360 Hey, I just did an archive binge on all the comments, and noticed how often you posted about your complaints for EQD. I have a question. What is your status on the actual fiction? I, for one, find it enjoyable, and the world it is set in is full of possibilities. It is definitely "Legendary" in how it has affected the fan base, but I am curious on how it has affected you.
I am thinking of this fallout world, only I'm thinking of what the Zebra land would be like. That was the only thing that bothered me about the Fallout series. We know America is screwed up with good people still being around, but I always wondered what happened to China and the rest of the world. They can't all be dead, you know.
2942173
Honestly it doesn't move me much; it's decently told and there's nothing majorly wrong with it but at least for me there's nothing stand out amazing about it either. Any chance of me actually finding the hype deserved was non-existent though, because nothing I can think of deserves the level of hype this gets from some people.
I haven't read much of the spin-offs and such it inspired so I don't know the general quality of them.
2942173I have my moments.
2938820
my favourite stories I don't know anything about yet. all stories I'm reading lately are mostly here. I like stories. Saves me having to build dreams :3.
The post count per Chapter Looks smaller to when i read it.
But yes, this Fic is Legendary. It's the only one i know with a Fandom within a Fandom.
oh and that i started playing fallout from this so many references. now that i see them
CB - Thank you KKat
2939381>>2939404>>2939443
I love how the first three commenter's profile pictures are of Scootaloo.
2942207 The general hype is usually seen when something first comes out, you know. As time goes on, people find themselves confused about why some things stood out so much from others. Now, your opinion is that it isn't as good as you thought, and that is true for a great many things people make a big deal out of. To me, what made this fic stand out was the immense amount of effort and care put into making an enjoyable story.
I am an avid reader, so I have a personal understanding of what most books and stories are set out to do. (Not sure if I worded that right) To me, Fallout Equestria was made as a decent crossover and was meant to be enjoyed for what it was. I highly doubt that Kkat ever expected for it to become such a nest for inspiration. As for it's original goal, it has done well in my eyes. It is well written, has a fairly entertaining story, and is rather unique, making it stand out a bit from the rest of the fics on the internet. However, its unintended effect was just as important and eye-catching. Like Past Sins and My Little Dashie, it resonated with the fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. What those two fics did NOT do, though, was give the readers a chance to explore the world that was created in them on their own. (Again, unsure if that was worded right)
Fallout Equestria served as a catalyst that allowed people to create their own stories with their own unique characters. This forces them to rely on their own creativity instead of just writing for characters they already know. If you were to take a look at the stories on this very site, you would see that the VAST majority are mainly about the lives of either the Mane six, their pets, a background character, or just some human or other thing finding themselves in Equestria, but still inevitably meeting one of the previously mentioned characters in the time of the show. I dare you to find a fic that does not do any of that outside the Fallout EQ fanbase. If you do find one, let me know, because I would like to see it.
This mass inspiration that still goes on today drew attention into the sub-culture that is Fallout EQ. As more and more found out about it, they were drawn to read the fic that caused that inspiration. As they read it, it gave them the chance to become inspired as well, and inspire others, and so the cycle repeats itself until ALL interest has been lost, as is usual with the internet.
Fallout Equestria does deserve the hype it is given, but not only because of the story itself. I think it is deserving of its praise due to all that it has brought into this fandom.
Like the actual show of My Little Pony, it is good on it's own, but it is GREAT with fans. This show that we bronies love would never have been the same if we as a whole had never drawn so much excitement and inspiration from it. What something IS is what makes it good. What something DOES and CAUSES is what makes it Great.
THAT is why I, for one, believe this fanfic deserves so much hype.
Man, I spent hours trying to describe my feeling for a piece of literature on the internet. That's either devotion or... I'm not even sure I want it to be anything else. Just don't any haters downvote this without an explanation. If you downvote, would you please tell me why you did so.
2937434
Hmmm, but it was and, at this time, IS only available right there with the main fic on EQD on the same page.
That's not a very big hunt.
"An intro and a prologue?"
Yeah, I'm surprised that the first comment here didn't say that, heh.
2943060
Yes but it wasn't always. Kkat put it there later on didn't she? Until then you had to hunt it down. Which I remember doing after finishing the original fic. And even though most people don't mind it being considered canon, placing it into the actual story there was a bit controversial of a move.
It was nice though.
2943687 Why thank you. And thanks for not being a complete jackass and downvoting just because you were told not to!
I'm serious about that. A LOT of people I know would do just that.
2943687 You could have downvoted, but I would have wanted an explanation to what you felt was wrong. So I guess that doing so just because I asked you not to wouldn't have been a good reason.
I'd just like to thank you for posting this chapter by chapter rather than all at once. With only a few chapters at the start, it helped me convince myself to finally start actually reading this fic I'd heard so much about.
Every morning, when I wake up, I will come back here to see how the updating is going.
2942779 Thanks, I mean after all who dosen't like scootaloo?
Brakes.
Grammar Nazi me does well with OCD.
Oh well, I've read this story once. Might as well read it again.
2944314
I second the sentiment.
MOAR MIGHTY TELEKINESIS!
Scoots still doesn't have her cutiemark?!?!
3044412
Never mind my earlier comment. Figured out a few chapters later.
Interesting use of the bobblehead mechanic.
"The effects are cumulative with Mighty Telekenesis Level One"
Does that mean Pip can carry a totaly of 6x her base strength, or 9x?
SPOILERS
I always kind of wondered what precisely that stood for.
I certainly hope so. You're one of the few characters I never doubted. In the last two centuries, a lot of ponies did a lot of things they thought were necessary. And on far too many occasions, I think they were mistaken. But I never lost faith in the Stable-Tec mission.
I remember when I believed this . . . although I assume they don't actually know that they're wrong. There's probably only a few ponies in this town who know where their water talisman came from.
Some obvious symbolism. Probably not a song Sweetie could have gotten away with, in fact, were her sister not in charge of the Ministry of Image and already in the habit of sometimes rerouting materials bound for censorship to her friends.
And some less obvious symbolism. To fight the war, one must sometimes choose unpleasant battles. To fight only the battles that look good in the moment may lead one down an unwanted path.
'Tis a miracle that Littlepip did eventually find a way to do both. And had she not quite managed, her battles could easily have ruined Red Eye's war, and prolonged the dark age considerably. One must wonder if such things have played out already in the Wasteland. Has an excessive focus on battles sustained the war?
You have no idea. Heroes are rare out here. Too rare to be allowed to be merely ponies. When a hero rises, it is a symbol. And when a hero falls, that too is a symbol. Now, you are Good, given a form that can act, but also can bleed or be corrupted. 'Tis a burden greater than any pony should bear.
If you could, would she be the sort of pony you would follow in an assault on a slaver town?
Such innocuous words . . .
*brakes
Economics. A lot of it sounds like nonsense, and a lot of it is nonsense, but there's not actually a lot of correlation between the two.
They will also fuck you up. Calamity may have neglected to mention that part.
Not just any virtue, either. It's the virtue the Wasteland most needs. It's the basis of morale. Almost nopony believes anymore they can make a difference, and so they don't.
They're still equine, though. And unlike raiders, they could be saved. After all, they're not doing this as a hobby; it's a business. And nasty business though it may be, most would agree it's better than starving to death, or getting eaten by monsters while trying to find supplies in civilization's ruins.
Your moral certainty is, I think, your greatest vice, despite also being probably the biggest reason you continue heroing. (I mean, just look at what sympathy did to Blackjack. I may be fairly behind, but last I checked, that pony was falling to pieces.)
One of the last pure things left in the Wasteland. Preserved through the past two centuries by the blackest of necromancy.
NO.... NOT THE MINTALS!!!!
they're so minty
Any one else notice how mint-als sonds like ecstasy
