The Zebrahara is the most inhospitable place on earth. Yet even here, life holds on and invades. In a small Zebra village, a shaman dances a terrible ritualistic dance that unleashes a tide of death so strong that it pulls in Equestria and it's brave and loving ponies. As Celestia sends the Royal Army to assist the bewildered Zebra King, she and her loyal soldiers witness first hand the true face of madness. These are stories of the Mad God King D'Jalin and the Dance of Blood.

(Oneshots, updated every now and then, all connected but not in sequence per-se. I hope you enjoy these. Zecora picture relevant. Character tags added as characters appear. May or may not be as rad as the other stuff I write. Have fun!)

To Prevent All Other Breaking-- Bic Macintosh writes a distraught letter home from the front in the final days of the War.

There has always been a little voice in Twilight Sparkle's head, whispering dark musings to her. And until her brother's wedding, she has managed to push those bitter thoughts away and focus on the good. She forgives and forgets and holds onto hope.

But when her friends turn their backs on her and her brother cuts her from his life, Twilight finds herself alone, with only the little voice to comfort her.

And it is through anger and hate that has been repressed for so long that Twilight finds the power to rise up. Harmony and Friendship have only brought her pain and suffering. It is time for her to embrace her dark side. No longer will she worry about what others think. Twilight is going to live her life how SHE chooses: without friends, without family, without love and without harmony. She is going to cut loose, have fun, and screw what others think.

For her friends and family, it will soon become apparent that if they don't find a way to mend the damage they've done to the lavender mare...Twilight Sparkle might be lost to them forever.

Twilight Sparkle is a student at Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. She loves to learn all she can about magic and the world that surrounds her. But lately... something strange has been happening. It may be nothing. It may just be a product of her imagination, or the heavy stress she's been under since her studies started.

There's no way she just heard a voice in the dark.

In the 19th century of Princess Celestia's rule, Equestria experienced an acceleration of its progress and prosperity as the first westward expansion began. Yet there were some ponies who took this call to progress as a warrant for ever more radical reform. In 1858, 148 ponies left Equestria to realize that radical dream. This is their story.

Written for a Writeoff Association contest (based off the prompt "Distant Shores"), but more broadly intended as an homage to Nathaniel Hawthorne, inspired by and deeply indebted to his great short story, Earth's Holocaust.
