Since the disappearance of the regal sisters nearly one thousand years ago, the world has been marred by war and devastation. Airships fly overhead carrying bombs capable of obliterating entire armies. Soldiers carry sword and pistol as they march from one battlefield to the next. It is an endless cycle of destruction that has carried on for nearly a millennium. Now, Queen Trixie's army marches east, planting the seeds for an evil that threatens to tear the world asunder. A librarian in search of her purpose, a politician who dreams of peace, a struggling farmer, a hyperactive philanthropist, a battle scarred soldier, and a pegasus shrouded in darkness are the only hope to putting an end to the cycle of destruction.

Note: Although the world presented in this story shares certain similarities and parallels to the culture and events occurring around World War 2, this story is not intended to be an historically accurate representation of the actual events of the war.

Equestria, once a peaceful land living in harmony. That was until the disappearance of the two royal sisters, which lead to the dividing of Equestria and the dividing of the Elements. Here in this story is a collection of tales, spotlighting one of the six factions troops.

Update: The site containing all the Equestria divided info is gone. Use Google search if you want to see the house forces.

Tirek. Discord. The Changelings.

The ponies have faced all these threats, and triumphed, but things could have been handled better. Princess Celestia knows this better than most. She knows that to face threats even greater than Tirek, greater than Discord, the ponies need allies. They need friends to turn to when the chips are down and the mad gods and cruel tyrants are on the horizon

She and Princess Twilight Sparkle travel to the Griffon Kingdom to meet the Griffon King. They seek to negotiate a formal treaty, something more than a rudimentary "You stay in your yard, we'll stay in ours." If the Changelings invade, or Tirek is once more a threat, it will not only be the ponies standing against them, but the griffons as well. It's only logical, after all. The griffons and the ponies share a border. They share ideas. They share refugees and concepts and cultures. And there haven’t been any major hostilities since the Pony-Griffon War. That was almost a thousand years ago.

It is logical to enter an alliance, but politics aren’t always about logic. Sometimes they are about past crimes, mistakes, and tragedies. Sometimes, past grudges simply can't be let go.

(Rated Dark and Teen for some disturbing content, though nothing too heavy or overt)

We doubted the queen's power. We thought nothing of her tales of strength. Why should we have believed the far fetched rumors of awesome power? Of her loyal maidens of battle? That the small country that had the gall to call itself the "Crystal Empire" was in its right a true empire?

Well, the simple answer is, we didn't. And we should have.

Then maybe the bloodshed could have been avoided. I believe that's what Queen Megan would have wanted.

Everyone knows the story of Hearth's Warming Eve. Everyone knows how six ponies brought the three tribes together and banished winter with the magic of friendship. But what if fear and hate had won instead, and created a society where winter is eight months of the year and earth ponies are little better than slaves. Millennia later, a dark lord plans to use that hate to power a foul magic. Can six new ponies, brought together by chance, find a way to end the winter, or will they be just a footnote to the end of the world?

5000 years ago, the alicorns invaded the planet for the first time. 1000 years ago, the celestial alicorn sisters staked their claim over the pony tribes. Then the Everfree burned, and now the Empress of Equestria rules alone. Celestia may reign, but she does not rest, for ever are there terrors lurking: Things great, ancient, and inapproachable, older than the alicorns.

It is an age of great advancements in Equestria. Gunpowder, oceanic trade, and new ideologies have shifted the balance of power and pony attitudes to the powers that be. The alicorn ordained hierarchy is challenged daily, as bitterness grow between the insecure knights and nobles, and the resentful burghers and commoners. Though many speak as though as if the Equestrian universal peace is already a dead letter, desperate reformers fight their own battle to preserve their princess's empire.

But it is not by mortal striving alone that the wheel of history is turned. The supernatural adversaries of Celestia's reign have returned at last, to conquer ponykind for themselves. Nightmares return to stalk under moonlit skies, but they are just the first and do not even bear the deepest grudge.

In an age of growing crisis, will the ponies be found wanting? Will the princess herself be found wanting? Will naked ambition, arrogance, and evil shatter the very concord of the tribes? It is a fraught time to live, where the pony world faces both peril and possibility. The ponies, the alicorns, the monsters- all have but one goal, to survive and see the world remade to their desires.

Twilight Velvet has lived in this changing world long enough to despise it, while Twilight Sparkle is just coming of age in it. Shining Armor thought he found his place but discovers all is not as it seems. This pony family, divided by duty, may effect the world more than the even their alicorn sovereign, if they can survive being close to power. Surely fighting ponies and monsters alike is worth it when there is a nation and a future to win.

Author's warnings: This story has many original characters, a fairly complex plot and lore, and is very long. A story that started as me trying to write Game of Thrones with MLP ponies has grown up with me and has come to include many of my interests in political philosophy and history. I'm committed to finishing it before taking what I learned and writing this story in its own setting, however long that takes.

Though the history of Equestria has always seen as a peaceful thing, the truth can seem like a mere fiction. But the truth is always hard to accept.
Long ago, many years before Equestria was as peaceful as it is now, Celestia and Luna were princes to a Warrior Pony, King SoulStorm of the Central Empire. But as they soon find out, their father's hidden agenda is to rule Equestria through the help of the malevolent figure, Discord. Forced to abandon their simple lives as mere princesses, they must find help and raise an army to fight back the evil that threatens to consume all of Equestria.

Captured by your enemy. It's something that no soldier wants to think about, much less experience. Unfortunately for one U.S. soldier fighting in Equestria, that's exactly what happens. At the mercy of the ponies, he will have to resist their attempts to extract information from him, and hope that he'll see freedom again.

More than 1000 years ago, something catastrophic happened that would change the course of Equestrian history forever. A young Princess, angered by injustices committed against her, will give in to her jealousy and rage and be transformed into a Nightmare.

This is a tale you will not find in any history books. This is a tale of betrayal, sorrow, and so much bloodshed. The unsetting moon was not a singular event. It was a war. An ashamed Princess Celestia had censored and altered the tale so that, whenever her sister did return, she would not immediately be hated.

This, however, is the true story of Nightmare Moon.
