Advances in science and magic had detected the Anomaly – a star in the heavens that was unlike all the others in the night sky. Intense research had only served to deepen the mystery. Although Equus had a vibrant space program, going forty-two light years to investigate had been considered impossible until now. The Cosmic Lotus program was born, and over a hundred crew-members of multiple species were sent into the void to discover the unknown. After a journey of years, what they would find would both amaze and terrify them.

The prequel to this story is the "Ad Astra" arc in the story – "Life, Love, and Death in the House of Path".

Coco Pommel, despite having grown up with pony parents, despite the fact that she felt ponies as her brothers, her equals, knew that she was far from being a normal pony. During her youth, her physical abilities were strengthened, at 7 years old she was already stronger than an adult earth pony, soon after she discovered that she was faster than a pony should be, and her senses were prodigious.

After a turning point in her life, Coco has decided to travel the world in search of her place in it, her destiny. After a long time, she will find her role, she will become a symbol of hope, the mare of tomorrow... Supermare.

Note: the sex tag is for some slightly off-color character jokes, aside from that, there's nothing more to it, don't worry.

Unhappy that her future as a member of the monarchy is denied by Celestia, Sunset Shimmer escapes through Starswirl's mirror into another world, planning to take it over to prove once and for all she was fit to rule. What she didn't expect—besides a species change—was to arrive in a world already conquered.

The Great Freeze. Was it our hubris in controlling the sun, or was it that others started to covet that control? At this point, the whos and the whys don’t change anything. Our star is dying, and those responsible for it are long dead. Their causes and motives, lost to all but a few.

For the past hundred years, our sun has been growing dimmer, kept alive only by Celestia’s constant efforts. But not even she nor the legion of magi and scientists can stop the inevitable.

Our only choice is to flee to a new world, one that could give our doomed species a second chance. The Seeding colony ship is that chance. There are so many worth saving, and yet so very few seats.

May our children never forget the sacrifice of those we leave behind.
