A little story I used to put my headcanon about how time works between the main series and the Equestria Girls sub-series. It's a discussion of why Sunset is so young despite being older than Princess Twilight, as well as why timeliness don't always match up between the two.

Adagio Dazzle fully intended to take over Sunset's high school, but fate had a different plan. Instead, Adagio ended up enjoying Sunset's company so much that she almost completely forgot about her plan to use her magic on Canterlot High. Now, a year later, Sunset and Adagio have been casually dating, the siren content with her new life. Sunset spins her on her head by suggesting for the two of them to go steady, admitting that she loves the siren. Adagio can't understand her own feelings. Does she love Sunset as well? How difficult can it be to say three words?

Unlike the Dazzlings we've come to see so far, this Adagio and her sisters have always lived on Earth, showing just a peak into the human counterparts' lives. During a normal night at home, Adagio has to remember the thoughts of her mother, all while keeping her promise to keep her sisters happy. Life can be unfair at times...

After a fight with Celestia, Sunset flees through a magic mirror into a different world.

Without her horn, any direction in her life, the inability to simply go back home and surrounded by strangers, she has to go on a journey of self discovery to find meaning in her life as dark forces begin to threaten the world she resides in.

But, at least she still has her magic and plenty of instruction manuals to learn more from.

Unable to convince anyone she isn't Anon-a-Miss, Sunset ends up leaving Canterlot behind, and thanks to a mysterious benefactor, she moves halfway across the world to begin a new life in Domino City, Japan. She has no interest in making friends, but fate has a funny way of intervening

She will meet a young boy named Yugi Muto who is obsessed with playing games. Especially a popular card game called Duel Monsters. Little does Sunset know that this fateful meeting will be the start of her new life. Even with a new life, those she left behind won't give up that easily on her.

Rainbow, AJ, Sunset all have a meeting with eachother talking about everything going on with their lives and how it feels to be the "tomboys" of the group.
