Ponies are like those weird experimental dishes my broodmother sometimes makes: really interesting and probably good for a story, but never the type of thing I’d want to poke, for fear it might take off my hoof. I already learned my lesson the first time something I ate came back to haunt me. Sure, they're flavorful, but I’d like to be a bit more discerning when I’m trying to distinguish “edible” and “by-the-queen-it’s-looking-at-me.”

Changelings have always been a secretive race, shrouded in mystery and keeping to themselves, staying unnoticed and in the shadows, feeding where they could and avoiding discovery at all costs. When Chrysalis made peace with Celestia, the veil of secrecy and subterfuge was shattered, and thanks to Twilight's efforts, the other changeling queens can no longer remain hidden.

Of course, Twilight is more than happy to leave the tricky diplomacy to Celestia. She's having a hard enough time dealing with her own amorous changeling queen and her new personal pegasus guard competing with her.

Even though the threat of the jungle queens and Grogar have been diminished, life often times does not get wrapped up in a neat little bow. More troubles present themselves large and small. Our only hope is we keep passing life's constant tests, even when it is the last thing we wish to do.

Chrysalis is sick of Twilight always getting in the way of her plans. So sick of it, in fact, that she's willing to do anything in her power to stop Twilight from stopping her. She'll even go so far as to fall in love with her greatest foe.

Princess Avia is looking forward to the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville, having heard so much about the town in question from her mother. A grand celebration, seeing her mother's best friends, what could be better?

Unfortunately, where Ponyville in concerned things rarely go as planned.

When Queen Chrysalis was defeated, not every changeling successfully retreated back to her Hive. Badly injured, either body, or mind . . . or both . . . the abandoned survivors have been struggling to do just that: survive.

Almost two years later, they have gradually banded together, forming a new Hive in the process. For, by now, they have been away for so long that they're no longer part of Queen Chrysalis' Hive. Exhausted, wounded in heart and soul, and starving, they just want to have a home.

Can they find, or make, one, in Equestria?

Queen Chrysalis has been banished from her hive and Thorax is now in charge of the changeling hive. However, the changelings are facing a new problem. Without a Queen to the hive, there can be no new changelings. Thorax goes to his new ponies friends for help.
