This story takes place after Season 8 and starts off just before Season 9. There is some things that remain true from the actual show and the comics story of King Sombra, while others are slightly changed, or new things are added. Years of ostracisation, abuse and torment have taken its toll on Midoriya Izuku, seen as a freak of nature for not having a quirk in his world where superpowers are the norm. When his idol, the Symbol of Peace and Japan's number one hero, All Might, destroys his dream of following in his footsteps, it proves too much.

Broken and seemingly beyond repair, Midoriya follows his tormentor's advice, and throws himself off the roof where All Might foolishly left him, embracing death and the hope of a better second life.

That would have been the end, if it wasn't for cosmic forces intervening.

Now thrown into a world where magic is the norm and talking ponies are the main species alongside mythical creatures thought to only exist in fantasy novels, a new life begins for Midoriya. (Though he would appreciate it if everypony would stop bowing to him wherever he went. He might have a horn and wings, but that doesn't make him royalty, for Celestia's sake!)

Starting afresh might be tough, especially without his hands, but with new friends by his side, Midoriya is willing to take up the challenge. Plus, magic and flying do seem like fun activities anyway, as well as apple-harvesting, and ogling a strong, attractive stallion of few words on the farm.

This is his story, of a new beginning, and how he became the greatest hero Japan had ever seen through the power of friendship and love.

G5 may be well underway, but there's still lots of unexplored potential in G4 worth considering. It's here once again, that series which dares to ask and seeks to answer that fateful question "What if that episode had been written differently?"

Twelve episodes are on tap for this volume, celebrating this series' tenth anniversary. Among the featured episodes includes a redo of a rewrite from Season 3, the rewriting of the final untouched episode of Season 8, a two parter, and even some bonus chapters.

It undoubtly goes without saying by now, but it's worth repeating all the same: The episodes rewritten are based on my personal opinion so please respect it. Spike wins the Gauntlet of Fire but decides not to give the Bloodstone Scepter to Ember for he has other plans in mind. Twilight and her friends are not thrilled to lose Spike but the Dragons welcome him. Spike discovers what Dragons are missing will lead them to prosperity.
