Twilight's castle has gone through many wild and life altering changes over the years. What once was a simple library was now the seat of a princess and her council. Not only that, over the years it's played host to so many new and interesting people; each one memorable in their own way.

Which makes it all the stranger that there's this pony tending to the books lately that nobody seems to know... But she seems so familiar!

Mayor Mare has been living in Ponyville for quite some time. Not as long as she'd have you believe, mind you, but a long time all the same. During this period, she had dreams and aspirations, and as far as she's concerned, she accomplished each and every one. But what do you do when you've already achieved all of your goals?

Well, she was pretty lonely. And although she obtained the exact career path she wanted for many moons, she had much less luck with the stallions in her life.

She never would have imagined that the solution would come in the form of a human, or what that solution would eventually lead to. The result is quite unorthodox.

Finding yourself in the halls of the this castle and asking it's ruler for a hug, couldn't be further from how you expected this day to go, yet that is exactly what happens, forcing you to face the fallout of your actions.

Sorry that I haven't edited this story before, but I simply couldn't wait with posting it. It just HAD to be done now. So please, excuse my subpar spelling and grammar.

Edit 09.11.2023. Finally came around to edit this. Much to my surprise, I didn't find much that needed improving. Either I am not as bad as I thought, or Zoho simply doesn't show me everything.

When the world is ending, where do you go?
Into Ships, sailing off into space? Hoping some new world will fare better than your last?
Into Vaults, buried deep underground? Waiting in stale air and light for the world to hopefully heal without you?
Into Portals, to new reflections of reality? Praying that alternate people made different mistakes?

When Equestria passed its point of no return, her citizens did as they always had in times of crisis: they herded together in one place.

And then they built a Spire.

Several centuries later, the daily life of your average pony is unrecognizably different...

...and yet, the more things change the more they echo the past.

Far from civilization, in places still left blank on all maps, one can sometimes find wonders of magic that predate even Equestria. Beautiful and dangerous, they’re a silent reminder of the world as it once was. But they’re also a threat to the travelers from the growing Principality of Equestria, so when Princess Luna discovers an unnatural blemish in the texture of her dreamscape, she doesn’t wait to investigate it.

They were even more shocked when she moved in with you and immediately became just another member of the community, all without saying a single word. To most of them, it can be hard to have a conversation with her.

Sunset's favorite alley cat has always been distant, only sometimes letting her get close enough to actually pet her. Not wanting an old friend to suffer out in a terrible storm, she's determined to show her a little kindness and a better life.

New York City's a good place for a pony to start over. There are plenty of opportunities available, such as pulling a carriage around Central Park. it's not that different from pulling a carriage in Equestria, after all.

Except for the regulations. So many regulations. The law is complicated, and it's not really set up for an Equestrian pony.
