After their defeat at the Battle of the Bands, the Dazzlings retreat into self-confinement to lick their wounds whilst they reassess their entire strange and fated lives from their beginnings in Equestria, up to the present. However, learning how to cope with the world and each other—living an immortal life in a powerless body—might just be more than any of them can bear.

Lines are blurred in this dark, historical, novelesque sirens origin story of innocence lost, heartache, betrayal, hope, and of course, beautiful music.

On the way back from Fluttershy's house, Starlight takes notice of a young filly under a tree and soon discovers that she is without any known parents. Starlight wants to take care of the poor orphan, but is uncertain if she has the qualities that it takes to be a 'mother'.

After losing her powers at the Battle of the Bands, Adagio had separated herself from the Sirens and had spent the last several years adjusting to living as a regular individual in the human world. Attending the local community college for the new semester, she runs into Sunset Shimmer.

When she was busted, everypony expected for Gabby Gums to be gone for good. However, new articles seem to be popping up by her name.

With only four weeks left till the end of year exams, Sonata has but no choice; she must improve her grades and pass her tests, or she'll be forced to redo the year. A songless siren is a miserable thing. Not only was singing their weapon and their means of control, it was the sirens' preferred means of expression, recreation, and a part of their identities. As such, to say they've all been a little depressed since the Battle of the Bands would be a considerable understatement. Imagine their surprise when that which was taken from them is offered back on one very simple condition!

One very simple, somewhat embarrassing condition that involves cheering for their former enemies and waving pom-poms around. At least the outfits are cute, right?
