There was an explosion and after the sound returned and Chrysalis was gifted sight again, she was greeted by pale white walls, various medical instruments, and her new life aboard one of the United Empire research ships.

For better or worse, characters are defined mostly by context. A horrible monster in one story might be a hero in another. A minor hurdle in one world could be an insurmountable problem in another.
