Months after Sombra had surrendered to the Crystal Empire, Cadence and Shining decided if it's possible to reform one of the most notorious villains in Equestrian history. At the same time, Shining starts to get suspicious when the ex-king asks for paper daily but never see what he does with it. Deciding to investigate, he finds the remains of a manuscript that, after cleaning the ash with a spell, he finds that it turned out to be a novel written by Sombra in which gives him a window into his thoughts and feelings towards him.

During a trip to the Crystal Empire with his girlfriend, Big Macintosh ends up stumbling upon what appears to be King Sombra's broken off horn. What surprises him is that the horn appears to be sentient and attaches itself to Big Mac's forehead, causing Sombra's lack of a heart to fuse with Big Mac's Pure Heart.

With this, the two end up merging into one being, Midnight Macintosh, lacking Big Mac's pure heart but not the heartless monster Sombra was. Midnight Macintosh does not know anything about his past two lives and has no memory of anything, he simply wanders around looking for a purpose.

He eventually meets a blue unicorn ho is aspiring to be a producer and agrees to help him with a film project, but is someone who is not heartless or lacking a pure heart cut out for what that would bring him?

(Big thanks to the user named blue-hart, this whole story idea was his! I don't get requests much so this is a challenge to write but I'm excited to work on it. If you have any questions feel free to ask blue-hart, he's a really nice guy!)

Sombra was not always the heartless ruler that ruled the Crystal empire with an iron hoof. He once had friends, a home, a lover...
But his thirst for knowledge and power led him down a dangerous road.

By chance or the powers that be, Sombra is deemed worthy of a second chance to correct a thousand year old mistake. History ignores intentions however, only recording actions. Can Sombra find a way to bring peace to his heart and those he cares for, or will the darkness from his past consume him?

The Empire of Harmony is a unified coalition of various races who joined under the banner of Princess Spike, who lead the combined forces in a battle to defeat a powerful tyrant, and has since been the world's biggest and longest running society.

Big Macintosh is an Earth Pony visiting the city of Canterlot, the capital city of the Empire, on urgent business (and a little sightseeing), however little does she realise she's going to end up at the centre of a race to save the world as an ancient and powerful enemy returns from the past, filled with anger and hate....and power.

A young alicorn colt appears in the snow outside of the Crystal Empire. It is soon discovered that he is Sombra reborn! Only, he has no memory of his past and only a fraction of King Sombra's power. His only hope is the magic of friendship or else the dark magic that dwells within him will corrupt this sweet little foal into a force of dark desire.
