One night as Apple Bloom is trying to sleep, she thinks she hears... something in the distance. A light is on in the CMC Clubhouse. She goes to investigate, and what she finds shivering in the snow will change her life forever.

Freshly founded, news of Ponyville spreads through a still developing country, drawing other earth ponies and some pegasi to join the effort. One of these families happens to have fur on their wings, and the slit eyes of predators. They ain't right.

Where does Cadance go the fifteenth night of every month? Shining wishes he knew. She claims that she's having trouble sleeping, or that she's attending some sort of meeting with her aunts, but he can tell something is different when she comes home. He'll stop at nothing to find out what's going on.

And he'll regret knowing.

Spike takes care of Twilight the best he can. She's sick, but he knows she'll get better and everything will get back to normal. But first, he needs to feed her.
