After a long talk with her mother, Vinyl is kicked out of the comforts of her home and forced to move to a new town. But her new home is far from perfect, as the place seems to be... haunted. Vinyl talks to her landlord who makes a bet that she can't capture the ghost of the mysterious cellist that was murdered years ago. Vinyl takes the challenge, and the whole town is taken aback by the mysterious truth that surrounds the home.

[So here I am, taking a small break from writing my typical stuff to do another one shot, this time, I'm going to practice my "comedy" and "mystery" writing. I'm going to warn you, my humor is pretty bad, but comedy is relative.... like time... or something.... ugh! At least I don't completely suck at mystery....]

A madcap Octascratch comedy wherein Octavia is having a quiet afternoon alone in the house and decides to eat the last of Vinyl's vanilla pudding cups from the fridge. Doing so is more difficult than she expects, especially when a time-traveling Vinyl appears with super-big news from a dark, apocalyptic future. Things quickly get out of hoof.

Vinyl has actually led a pretty adventurous life... travelling around the world and playing music for whoever cared to hear, her fame held within the steel walls of her laptop. But for every positive in Vinyl's life, there has been an equal or greater negative, and Vinyl finds her life in a state for which she had never planned.

Hearth's Warming Eve is a festive holiday for all ponies to bask in the warm comfort of their homes, and spending the day with relatives and friends. Vinyl loves partying on a day like this at a bar - but Octavia just wants some peace and quiet during this holiday. But they start to look back at the spark that triggered their relationship, on that one day back at the academy.

The grey earth-pony Octavia Philharmonica has everything she'd ever desired: A small house in Trottingham and appointments at the Concert Hall. But there is something missing. Despite all of her dreams, she is incredible lonely. She even places a small ad in the local paper to find a roommate that fits taste. Once Vinyl, a white-coated unicorn, appears in front of her door, Octavia's world completely changes, bringing back the past that she and Vinyl forgot.

Now she must gather the shreds of her pride, only to have to swallow them to work under the only pony that seems willing to hire her. Now it's time for her to make a name for herself all over again, and she's determined to make it no matter what, even if she has to start over from Scratch.
