Sunset was expecting Princess Twilight Sparkle to be the one to come through the portal on a day when the holidays line up between the two worlds. Instead, her care package of Equestrian Hearth's Warming decorations is brought over by a student from the school of friendship, Gallus.

This unexpected encounter will lead to a holiday lesson that resonates with both of them.

In the wake of the magical fiasco that was the Friendship Games, Sunset Shimmer invites her new friend Twilight over to spend the night, and Twilight comes to find out that the two have more in common than she ever would have expected.

Sunset Shimmer has had a few things on her mind for a while, so she sends Princess Twilight Sparkle a message asking her to visit and help Sunset think things through. After finding out her majesty's busy schedule will only allow her to stay just a little after Sunset's shift ends, Sunset asks Twilight to wait for her at her favorite coffee shop: the Sunlight Café.

Feeling introspective and adrift after the ordeal at Rainbow Falls, the last thing Spitfire wanted to think about was having to fly all the way back to Cloudsdale, let alone do so with Soarin, Fleetfoot and an uncomfortable atmosphere. So she took the train instead, where she ended up talking to a pegasus from the Ponyville team. Turns out they have rather different outlooks on life.

This is not an accusation story, and it was not written for the purpose of humbling Spitfire. Quite the opposite – this is about forgiving her.

If you like, this can be a standalone story, or it can be a prequel scene for Haunted Wasteland, of which King Of The Stingers is another, though with a completely different cast and situation to this one.

All of Sunset's hard work in college is finally nearing its end. As she's sitting in her dorm room on yet another lonely Friday night, she has to wonder what she might have lost along the way.

After seeing a girl that looks like Sunset Shimmer at a carnival in town, Twilight spends a day with Sunset looking for her. Maybe seeing this girl will reveal a little more about what's eating Sunset.

Sunset and Twilight have been meeting regularly at a cafe for tea and coffee. Then, one day, Twilight asks Sunset about the day of their duel.

“Did it hurt?”

Not too long after the events of Forgotten Friendship, Sunset Shimmer decides to pay a visit to Equestria. Being the good friend that she is, Twilight realizes that Sunset still have doubts about her past actions that are yet to be snuffed out. With the support from Twilight and Starlight, Sunset realizes that the present is the best time to make more memories rather than to dwell on what has passed.
