Twilight Sparkle has been called to go on a business trip with the two princesses, and takes Spike along with her.

The trials and tribulations of inter-realm travel are not for the faint of heart, as they are about to find out.

On the day of the thousandth Summer Sun Celebration, Twilight Sparkle finds out about the return of Nightmare moon and begins to worry about it. however, Princess Celestia dismisses Twilight's worries and sends her to Ponyville to oversee the preparations for the celebration and to make some friends. Once there, Twilight meets five ponies whose destinies are inexplicably tied with her own. Those ponies? Derpy Hooves, Lyra Heartstrings, Bon-Bon, Pinkie Pie, and Cloudkicker.

My name is Twilight Sparkle, personal student of Princess Celestia of Equestria and resident librarian. Oh, and some might call me the laziest unicorn in Ponyville.

Celestia wants Twilight and her friends to loosen up a little bit around her. Luna just wants to try the hard cider. During a surprise visit to Sweet Apple Acres at the tail end of cider season, Princess Luna has just a bit too much to drink, and when she makes a rather inappropriate joke, Twilight comes to the very uncomfortable realization that she has never seen Celestia excuse herself to use the restroom.

After realising that Scootaloo has never been to Cloudsdale, Rainbow takes the filly to the citadel of the pegasi, much to Scootaloo's excitement.
