War has left Rainbow Dash with many regrets. She is alone and trapped in the mind games of a military artificial intelligence gone mad. Or is she? It's hard to tell what is real and what isn't with AM...

A contest entry for F*** THIS PROMPT! #3.

The (rather difficult) prompt was "A Princess duels a character from a 'mature audiences only' franchise." I chose to cross over with the world of "I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream". Originally a short story published in 1967, it was later adapted into a video game by the same name in 1995, which developed and expanded the plot, characters, and the inner workings of AM.

For as long as Equestria Online existed, Ashton has been involved with 'the Scene' tearing it apart. Selling 'spells' for the game to do things that most ponies in Equestria couldn't, using faint exploits in its API to erode the barrier between the game and the rest of the internet. He had no illusions about the superiority of his work--but so long as he respected CelestAI's boundaries, his spells kept working.

But then his best friend's sister got cancer.

Now there's no spell in the world that can keep him from emigrating to be with her, leaving Ashton alone. All around him, civilization's thin veneer crumbles as homes empty into Equestria. But Ashton isn't going to emigrate, not if he has any say about it.

The problem for Ashton is that humans are systems, and aren't immune to exploits either.

Part of the Optimalverse universe of stories. If you've never seen a story in this universe before, you might want to try out the original first, or at least my first. None of my previous work is required to understand this one, however.

This story was commissioned by Two Bit, who requested a more serious exploration of identity, transformation, and the fae nature of CelestAI.

As usual, particular thanks go to my editors Two Bit and Sparktail. And gratitude to Zutcha as well for the cover.

Some ponies like chocolate or flowers or a trip to the spa, or maybe just staying at home and chilling with their special somepony.

The Unity Day party at Sweet Apple Acres goes awry after surprising accusations are leveled at Applejack, on account of some difficult-to-discern lyrics.

Find Iron Wolf's dramatic reading of this story, in a super cool Polish accent that kicks the whole thing up to 11, here.

Having a pony roommate was an adjustment; there was a lot about Earth she had to get used to . . . and a lot of ideas she'd brought with her that you had to get used to.

She was a heck of a cook, though, and didn't mind sharing, so you were more than willing to let her have the kitchen.

And then you came home and discovered that she was making butter. Which she must have known she could buy at the grocery store if she wanted butter.

This is the story of one of the six Antitheses of Harmony. One who had a life and was happy on Earth.

Years ago, a recruit named Michael Hengst impressed an officer during an investigation about divulgation of classified information.
Which eventually landed his current, long-term assignment: “Her registry is Specimen 25467, but she likes the name Flora.”
“Your primary mission is the typical for an Intelligence soldier like you: Keep the secret from becoming public.”
“Your secondary mission is why we selected a soldier who had maintained his humanity despite his line of work: the only alien life form known to humanity needs a friend.”

And he became so much more than a friend: Flora needed a father.

While I have made this story approachable without having read "All American Girl", this story is a reply to the AAG May Story Challenge. If you like my story, you'll love the original.
