When the Changelings attacked for a second time, pony rule in Equestria was reduced to Canterlot, ruled temporarily by Twilight Sparkle. Inside the castle walls, Twilight and her subjects have managed to hold on against Chrysalis' hordes, but they can only last for so long.

Sweetie Belle, loyal servant to Princess Twilight and the only adept political mind the ponies have, is sent overseas to unknown lands, in hopes of recruiting other nations to fight for Equestria. However, when things go awry, Sweetie Belle finds herself lost in a new land with new allies, foes, and what might be the only thing that can save Equestria: dragons.

Sonata Dusk has finally acclimated to life after being freed from the Siren Pendant. It seems like she has everything: a nice group of friends, a steady job, a simpler wardrobe, and even gotten away from Adagio Dazzle and Aria Blaze. However, there's one thing that's still missing from her life – someone to call her own.
Little does she know how soon her wish will come true.

Sunset Shimmer, the protege of Princess Twilight, originally planned to wear her mentor's old Mare-Do-Well costume to a Nightmare Night party. A near-disaster that evening drove her to keep it, taking up the role of Equestria's newest hero.

It was the worst day of her life, because she fell out of the sky. She hit the ground, broke her back and lost a wing. She would never be able to fly, nor walk without assistance again.

It was the best day of her life because she met Ditzy Doo, an optimistic (if a bit strange) filly that brightened everything up with her presence.

This is their story.

One thousand years of practically uninterrupted peace under Celestia's rule... And then, in less than half a decade, half a dozen world-threatening monsters suddenly crawled out from under their rocks and tried to overthrow the kingdom. Nearly every time, the same six mares eliminated the threat.

While that makes for a great story, and newspaper editors loved the idea of super-ponies empowered by the magical bonds of friendship, the average noblepony found this idea somewhat concerning. The security of the entire nation depended on six individuals. Following Tirek's return and the widespread damage he caused, the nobles resolved to create a secret division of the government to anticipate and counter any future threats of an extraordinary nature.

From this idea, F.R.I.E.N.D. was born. It was a collection of Equestria's best and brightest, backed by considerable wealth and dedicated to the defense of ponykind against anything that imperils it.

Misty Daze had long searched for her cutie mark midst her confusing personality. A mysterious bat pony, she has conflicting urges to change her alignment. And when Celestia calls on her for a daunting mission to save Princess Luna from the Changelings, which side will she take? Join Misty and her best friend Snowy Sonnet on a quest for the truth, and all of ponykind.
