Twilight Sparkle is having a tough time mastering her brother's protection spell after returning from her first semester at Princess Celestia's School for Gifted Unicorns. Shining Armor stands ready to assist his sister as always and decides that recounting the tale of how he got his cutie mark may help her in her task. His story involves a young colt struggling to learn what it means to protect those that matter and the price of intervention. With the help of his new friend, Lightning Bolt, he will transform from a naive and compassionate youngster to the royal guard recruit that is so greatly admired.

However, when a certain pink party pony forcibly involves herself in your life, you wonder how you're going to survive this onslaught of randomness, her obsession with parties, and why she can't keep her hooves off your hat.

Twilight awakens in a green cocoon, to find that the Canterlot Wedding never really happened, and that Chrysalis has taken over Equestria. After awakening the others, Twilight decides they need to find out what happened to Princess Celestia and find the Elements of Harmony. But before too long, the Mane 6 are separated and must find a way to reunite.

As Twilight advances Equestrian magic in great strides she makes a discovery that will shake the very foundations of Equestria itself. Will her discovery lead to Celestias fall or possibly even the failure of Equestria itself. Or will it put Equestria in its rightful place in the universe.

I had a dream about this the other night and just had to write it down. It will not be told via Twilight the entire time so don't get used to it. There are many many characters that have not been introduced yet and this is just the beginning of what I hope will be a long story. A terrible new day rises when a tragedy, foreseen only by Celestia but preventable by none, occurs right in the middle of Canterlot, turning Twilight Sparkle's world upside-down.
