A gnoll appears in the Canterlot library and is forced to cope with an endless amount of problems as it gets to know the ponies a bit better.

This is a story with each chapter written on a touch and go basis in an hour. If there are errors in them please excuse me I constantly reread them and when I find something I correct it. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Finally got around to do a rough sketch for cover, maybe I'll finish it when I find the time.

Big thanks to Silver Page for editing.

Don't forget to rate if you like ^^

The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. ~ David Hothersall

The first author was given a prompt and wrote the first chapter. The second author was given only the first chapter and wrote the second. The third author was given only the second chapter and wrote the third. And so on.

What kind of story are we getting here? Read on to find out.

The inn of the World is a place where storytellers can relax, enjoy food and drinks and exhange stories. Its mysterious barkeep listens intently to tales of things that go bump in the night and the horrors that lurk in the heart of every pony.

All stories written by members of "The Writer's Group".

Everything has fallen apart for Scootaloo.

Her Cutie Mark will never come. The doctor said so. Her blood is just wrong.

As she stays in the Cutie Mark Crusader's Clubhouse, her friends show up. Now she has to explain that her crusade is over, and that there's even worse news.

Life as she knows it is over.

A/N: Kind of a sad story, with an upbeat ending. Listed as Slice-of-Life because it contains headcanon that makes some modicum of sense. Pretty light (Scoot's not even an orphan in this), and may have been done before, but this idea's been bothering me for too long, so here it is. Bonus points if you know what the title means. Avoid comments for massive spoilers, even if you do know what the title implies.

And yes, I do have some background in genetics, but I'm skimming it a bit for show feel.

Edit 28/7: Made the whole thing a little longer, and I think better in general. Hope you enjoy!

Watch out for the sequel, being worked on now.

(Set five to seven years before 'The Magic of Friendship', depending on how old you think the cast is.)
Warning: contains an underaged Rarity and a rubber costume.

Little Waiwai is a colt in need of a foalsitter. Why should Rarity have to foalsit him? Because her mother said so, and like any teenage girl she can't really refuse a direct order from her mom. He won't be any trouble, or at least that's what the grownups keep saying.

And yet Waiwai has somehow managed to drive away every single foalsitter in town. This does not bode well for the aspiring fashion icon, nor does the fact that Sweetie Belle sort of knows him and definitely hates him.

Steeling her resolve, a young Rarity must face the horrors of foalsitting a no doubt unmanageable colt and hopefully keep her mane intact during the process.

Can her hair survive the horror that is little Waiwai?

A/N: Submitted to the third Author Support Prompt, and it won.

Yeah, I'm as confused as you are.

It's listed as 'Slice of Life' because it's a mix of comedy, light sadness (philosophical/psychological stuff, I guess) and...well, to say more would spoil it. Suffice to say it primarily tries to approach the show's look and feel, so the other tags don't really match up on the whole. Hope you enjoy!

Now edited for accuracy's sake, the mention of gems and crystals is mixed. In hindsight, this fanfic actually contains fanon that was made canon with the Season 3 opener. Oh well...

Pulled into a strange world where myth and legends are real. Unable to communicate to the native creatures here, or even able to move for that matter... How is a human supposed to adapt to this strange world, or even manage to keep his sanity when he is encased in stone.

It all began thousands of years ago in some dark and smoky cave with a tale-teller chanting to his awe-struck tribe huddled around a sputtering fire. He told of strange beasts, angry gods, and dark magic afoot in a dangerous world. He embellished a bit too much, and technology was young. Nothing could be proven, so these stories became ghost stories.

But in a civilized Equestria, ghost stories are just for fun. Just for scaring fillies and colts on a Nightmare Night slumber party.

So, when an orange filly happens upon a book out in the everfree, she doesn't think twice about sharing its contents with her easy-to-scare friends. What she doesn't know, is that she didn't find a book. She found a journal. And it's not like any ghost story she has ever read.
***

A horror fic, or at least my attempt at one. Based heavily on the Slenderman legend, or at least my interpretation of it. There won't be any gore or sex, so don't think this is your typical "Oh, it's already rated R for being scary, lets just throw a few sex scenes in it" that Hollywood tends to lap up like a thirsty dog.

Have fun, and remember... Once you see him, it's already too late.

Zecora's friends in Ponyville don't know anything about the mysterious zebra mare's past. She sits alone in her cottage every night and writes a letter to her daughter. She hasn't seen Zinnia since she was a foal, but that doesn't stop Zecora from missing her.

This is a one-shot, so there probably won't be more unless I feel like expanding on this idea. The letter is written as a poem, in keeping with Zecora's rhyming.

I'm not saying this is hilarious or highly irregular, but... enjoy the responses to the prompts of July - 2012.

Premise: In five-hundred and fifty words or less, please respond (in the most amusing way possible) to one of the prompts.

Every month, Octavia plays privately for Princess Luna as she paints the night sky. Each time, Octavia feels that familiar feeling, one she's rarely ever felt before. Now she has decided that it is time to announce these feelings. However, she has a secret, one she has kept for longer than she can remember. But surely the Princess of the Night would be able to understand her own creation, right?
