Freed from her entombment, Cozy Glow finds herself a student once more. At Twilight's behest, she embarks upon a new programme of friendship study, under the watchful (and suspicious) gaze of Twilight's protégé, Luster Dawn.

As she embarks upon her studies, Cozy Glow finds herself reconsidering everything she once took for granted, and Luster finds herself wondering what circumstances could have led the filly down the path of destruction she'd chosen. Yet Equestria seems far from ready to accept the filly who almost brought the empire to it's knees - Legion of Doom or not.

Cozy Glow DID have a plan in the works. It was simple and it was easy. All she had to do was get it in every creature's minds that their friendship wasn't natural. A fight would occur, she would lead them all to the Tree, and then they could fix all her problems without her having to raise a hoof! With an excuse at the end~!

That was the plan, but Cozy Glow had decided that instead of them finding the place themselves, she would take them to the grate in person. In the end, she accidentally got herself wrapped up into the dark roots below that waited to see what her fears were... and if she could face them.

Once upon a time, the School of Friendship was praised and accredited, after its lessons drove a little filly mad. Imprisoned in Tartarus with only an ancient monstrous centaur to keep her company, Cozy Glow was in the perfect place for Grogar to whisk away so that he could force her to do his bidding.

Twilight Sparkle's friends, bastions of Equestria's highest virtues, left Cozy Glow forgotten and alone, locked in that rusty cage deep underground. Nopony ever attempted to visit her, check up on her, care for her, reform her, or try to find out what was wrong with her.

This is not that story.

Everything in Ponyville is peaceful now. Yet, there's one mare who visits a certain grave. Because, there is nothing else left to do now.

Written for the "Cozy Glow Short Story Contest" and based on the prompt "In Equestria, no creature mourned Cozy’s death, except one." Also, do note I've written for fun, though the theme is anything but.

In a memorial museum inside the futuristic city of Ponyville, lay the memories of what is considered the greatest ruler of Equestria to date. A collection of memoirs left by the long-gone Princess. Of the millions of letters and thoughts recorded by Twilight, seven have achieved infamy. Believed by many to be addressed to the legendary bearers of Harmony themselves, scholars have long debated the meaning behind the strange words.

Who were they? What was their relationship to her? Nopony knows anymore, all that's left are the myths and legends, and of course, Twilight's Heartfelt words.

Cozy Glow escaped from her stone prison and is gaining power by stealing her foes’ cutie marks. Somehow, the Cutie Mark Crusaders are immune to her, and now it’s up to them to save the day.

Zecora welcomes Celestia and Twilight to tea with mixed feelings. Celestia, after all, was the first pony to ever call Zecora a friend, but she's also one of the few creatures who knows the truth, a truth that Zecora feels certain Celestia wants to share with Twilight...

This was going to be my entry in the 200th Writeoff contest, "Looking Back," but once again, I couldn't get it finished in time. And the cover art is by Andy Price, of course.

Princess Celestia and Luna announced their retirement and Twilight Sparkle to be their successor, and ascend the throne of Equestria. Twilight is stressed about it, but her mind is focused on her former assistant at Ponyville's School of Friendship named Cozy Glow.
She finds her punishment too harsh, therefore she wants to at least try to convince her to be a good pony and release her from Tartarus.
