The past few weeks have not been kind to Rarity. Ashamed at how much of a fool she made of herself over Trenderhoof, she slips into a depression. She begins to abuse medication, combining it with alcohol; creating a vile elixir that may just rob her of what she holds most dear.

Rarity is remorseful. She feels as if she is all alone and unloved, but is she really?

When she finally cracks under the pressure, there's only one pony who can offer her help. Fluttershy, however, has her own problems to deal with, and they're just as dire as Rarity's.

Perhaps they could cooperate and find a mutually beneficial solution . . .

This story is a sequel to The Sweetest Gem

The second episode of The Gems Trilogy. Rated Teen for strong language and sexual implications.

Rarity becomes desperate to find her special somepony once and for all as an air of romance in Ponyville continually surrounds her. But little does she know that her own best friend has been secretly harboring a crush on her for a very long time.

This story is told from the perspectives of both Rarity and Fluttershy, and will alternate between their POV's by chapter, with occasional third-party narration and multi-POV chapters to extend the story further.

Note: This story is sorely outdated. It's in desperate need of a rewrite that I'm too lazy to provide. Read at your own risk.
