The original version of this story had no Pony content whatsoever and came in 2nd in the 247th Writeoff contest, "The Hurricane's Eye Blinked." It's been extensively rewritten since then and was now an entry in the 2023 Science Fiction contest where it didn't make the Top 12.

Applejack has been asleep for a week, trapped in a strange recurring dream that neither medicine nor magic can wake her from. In desperation, her wife Rainbow Dash takes her to Zecora for help.

With Zecora's help, Rainbow Dash enters Applejack's dream to try to find the cause of it. They find that the farmpony is cursed, trapped in her own mind by a lie⁠—a powerful one. To break the spell and wake her up, Rainbow Dash has to uncover Applejack's lie, and the truth behind it.

But what could Honesty herself be lying about, and why?

After getting teleported against his will, an alicorn explores the Canterlot Castle to gather information in a disguise. Unfortunately, the disguise he took is very recognizable and infamous.

Mistakes have consequences. Right?

Why yes, they do. As a matter of fact, every mistake has consequences, proportional to the size of the mistake. As a result, when a determined young mage makes a terrible mistake by reaching for the Beyond...

The consequences are far larger than she could have imagined.

These are those consequences.

This story is ostensibly a rewrite of The Boy who Disappeared... except that it's so far different I'm not sure it actually qualifies as a rewrite, so much as a whole new story.

After 700 years, Twilight gets tired of waiting for a promising student. And with no friends left to keep her company, or time to make new ones, she gets bored. Deciding that a certain Changeling Queen she's had a growing infatuation of could help by shaking things up, Twilight Releases Chrysalis. Chrysalis, however, doesn't like the idea of going along with what Twilight wants.

"Hey, I need to file an insurance claim on my house?"

"Nature of the damage?"

"Oh, a magical bear got dragged into town by a bunch of teenagers to impress their foalish crush and it stepped on my front porch. Also, the next week a god of chaos turned my lamps into sharks and now there's a puddle of milk in my crawlspace."

For Equestria? This is an absurdist tale. For Ponyville's insurance adjuster, it was Wednesday.

A slice of that life, starring the adjuster himself and everyone's ... third(?) favorite glasses-wearing foal.

For many long years, Twilight Sparkle worked to try to reform Cozy Glow. She'd be released from her stone prison periodically for a new reformation attempt, and she'd inevitably end up trying to conquer Equestria again. Being turned into a statue became a regular habit for her over the years. There were always more chances to conquer Equestria, always another attempt to reform her, and she wasn't aware of the passage of time each period she was committed to her prison.

Until one day, she was released again—only to find no one was there.
