After her emotional revelations to Twilight Sparkle, Princess Luna returns to Canterlot uncertain of her feelings, her place in the world, and even her identity. Does she love Twilight Sparkle as a friend, or want her as a lover? Does Luna, herself, really have any place in a world that has changed again and again out of all recognition during her long life in this incarnation alone, let alone compared to the Age of Wonders?

Is she Princess Luna? Nightmare Moon? Moondreamer? The pitiless Cosmic Principle, to whom little ponies are nothing more than worms crawling the face of an unimportant speck in spacetime? Who is she really, and what does she really want?

Her big sister tries to help her feel a bit less adrift.

I was only a baby, then. I had to grow up someday.

Here, at Pony Joe's, I hope to find something. Closure, maybe, or I could just be trying to delay the inevitable. I'll have to return someday soon and face what I've done.

Twilight assures me that every creature, pony, dragon, or anything, goes through this. It doesn't make it any easier to live with.

Maybe one more doughnut will erase everything. I can only hope it does.

Following a grievous heart condition, a dramatic surgery, and an unbearably-long recovery period, Applejack finally returns home from the hospital. She returns, however, a mere shadow of her former self. With so many weeks in bed, she finds herself without stamina, constantly in pain, and more tired than she's ever been. And what's worse is her inability to return to her normal life.

There is one pony, however, who is not willing to sit on the sidelines and watch her friend destroy herself. Rainbow Dash has never been a patient pony, and is determined to help reignite her friend's dampened spirits by whatever means necessary. But hearts never heal quickly, and the pegasus may have her own wounds to wrestle with along the way.

Adagio takes a spill during an attempt to gather energy. It's something the other two sirens aren't likely to let her forget for a long time.
