Everyone always tells Twilight that the ones who love us never truly leave us.

But that's a lie. It's always been a lie.

Things that live must also die. It's simply the cycle of life, and that cycle doesn't care about love or the pain it causes.

Until one day, that cycle is broken by a forgotten figure from her past: a little tortoise who's not so little anymore.

This story is, first and foremost, a gift for the incomparable Mushroom, who clearly must be some sort of undiscovered species of fungus dog since we definitely don't deserve her. I have it on good authority that this story gave her Many Feelings, and I hope it gives them to you, too. :)

This also won first place in the of the Quills and Sofas Speedwriting '2021 Gift Fic Exchange' contest portion, which is neat.

Sunset Shimmer, twenty-four years old, woke up on a cruise ship, without knowing how she got there, or why. She encountered fifteen other souls, all of them trapped aboard by a mysterious pony known only as Monoponi, who informed them they are there for one purpose, and one purpose only:

To kill each other.

Now struggling to survive while desperately trying to recover what memories she's lost, Sunset is thrust into a deadly situation, where anyone, at any turn, could become the next killer. Who will survive? Who will die? What is Monoponi's true goal? Who is he, really?

Sunset can only hope to find out before she, too, becomes a victim of the killing game.

After a long time of not seeing each other, they both regret not having spent more time together in the past, and do their best to remedy that.

However, when a mysterious Equestrian Collie emerges one night from the Everfree Forest, her stable farming life takes a turn for the stranger when the pompous pup needs more than just her affection.

As graduation looms, Sunset's anxieties about life—both at Canterlot High and beyond—are mounting, and that anxiety begins to manifest in intense nightmares about the Memory Stone incident, one year prior. At a sleepover with Rarity and Twilight at the latter's house, Sunset jolts awake in the middle of the night, and Rarity overhears. Determined to help her friend, Rarity sits down with her immediately to talk through exactly what's going on—and the two discover some hidden truths about their friendship in the process.

Twilight and Applejack are engaged! For two mares who care so much for family and friendship, though, their families are hardly integrated. As their wedding approaches, they set out to change that-- by gently coaxing their older brothers into an unlikely friendship.

This story was written for the 2021 Pride and Positivity Event! I promised a friend a while back that I'd do some more mlm content, since this site is a little short on it, so here it is ;) In the spirit of the event, this story is all about warmth and love.
