When the Sun fails to raise on the day of the Summer sun Celebration, Prime Minister Twilight Sparkle visits her estranged brother, prince Shining Armour with grave news about princess Celestia and a surprising proposal for a political alliance on not exactly equal terms.

A short AU story with the main point of divergence being Luna becoming the Nightmare around twenty years later than in the canonical timeline - which places her return later in Twilight's life.

Set shortly after the end of Series 4, still reeling from the destruction of Golden Oaks, Twilight is trying to settle into her new palace when she and Spike stumble upon something that threatens the already tattered fabric of her life.

The way this story changed and evolved was based in part by donations and requests. The first half of the story focuses on comedy and random events, the second half of the story is more serious adventure, and the end of the story has tragic overtones to it.

All anyone really knows is that this story is going to be awesome. I can say that because I am the Narrator, so I know these things. Although I have to put up with the Critic and fear the wrath of The Redacted, we've done this for many years now: taken different ponies, and thrown them together in the pot to create new stories and new plays to entertain ourselves and our audience, and to keep The Redacted pacified. Even we Draconequui have to be wary around certain individuals, after all.

Shining Armor couldn't be more proud of his little sister, nor could he be more jealous. Both Cadence and Twilight will live forever. But what will become of him? When an ancient entity gives him an answer to the question, fear of death consumes his his mind.

Shortly after the vision, he confides his mortal anxieties to Cadence, who tells him of a legend regarding six artifacts that if collected can grant a pony one wish. For Shining Armor, he would like nothing more than to spend eternity with his loving wife and his adorable little sister. Willing to risk an early grave for a shot at immortally, Shining embarks on dangerous quest that set's a chain of events into motion that could very well mean the end of both harmony and chaos. Will Shining succeeded in his quest and become an alicorn, or will he nail his coffin shut early and ruin the full life he could have had.
