Celestia loves me.

Nothing is wrong.

One thousand years ago, Princess Luna fell to her corruption. Driven to madness by loneliness, shunned by the very subjects she strived to protect, and by jealousy of her ever-brighter sister.

In her desire to be seen by her subjects, Nightmare Moon brought about an eternal night, that they might finally view her as equal to the beloved Princess of the Sun.

Princess Celestia was forced to confront her, and they fought. Nightmare Moon was outmatched, and banished.

Five hundred years ago, Princess Celestia fell to her own corruption, born of grief at the loss of her sister, and rage at her own immortality as she watched those she cared about crumble to dust, while she remained, unchanging.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, the last free country on Equus fell to the newest and only empire on the planet:

The Solar Imperium, ruled with an iron hoof by Queen Daybreaker, Goddess of the Sun.

Today, Princess Luna returned from the moon.

Celestia was a mortal once. She had dreams and hopes. Like any other mortal being but has long since forgotten what it was like to be a unicorn.

As the generations have passed, she has grown to hate what she is. She has grown to hate the sun who made her immortal. She hated the voice she buried deep down, clawing its way up with dreams of blood-red infernos and fire.

She hates she listening to it.

She wanted peace. She wanted diplomacy. She wanted harmony and friendship.

She got war.

With the armies of the Changeling Lands marching through Equestria, overwhelming any and all resistance they encounter, Princess Celestia has had to resort to increasingly drastic measures to save her country and the ponies that live in it. But while her sister leads the armies from the front and her ponies fight and die in the name of princesses and country, Celestia feels useless and inadequate in Canterlot. After all, she was supposed to protect her precious little ponies. How had she failed them so badly?

Those doubts and worries gradually gnaw away at her, day after day and month after month. Until one day, she reaches a tipping point, the point of no return:

She will save Equestria, no matter what it takes.

Despite an increase in revolts and resistance, Daybreaker rules Equestria with an iron hoof. But for some reason, this granny on an apple orchard keeps subverting her rule and convincing guards to leave the farm unharmed. Daybreaker might have to show up and deal with this herself.

Starlight Glimmer takes a trip to visit her fiery marefriend in another reality, aka Daybreaker, and have quality time, helping her every step of the way.

An idea loosely conceived by the existence of an empty group named "Starlight Glimmer & Daybreaker".

Daybreaker: the monster in Celestia's heart, and the age-long mystery of her life. Her friend and tormentor, her companion and foe. Fanatically devoted to their future, yet desiring one horrific to Celestia.

It is growing stronger.

Twilight Sparkle had been preparing for her entrance exam for so long, just to blow it at the end! If only she could get away to a place no one would know her.

Banished to another reality by a vengeful Starlight Glimmer. Twilight ends up in a near copy paste version of the Equestria that she knows and loves…with one small difference, she doesn’t exist. Twilight played a huge role back in her Equestria. So what would happen to an Equestria that ended up losing its saviour years ago?

Attempting to figure out what makes this reality different from the one she was born in and what happened to the original Twilight Sparkle. Twilight tries to reunite with those that she was closest to and find a way to replicate Starlight’s spell to return back home. However things won’t be as easy as she had originally thought.

Though after spending time in this version of Equestria, making friendships and finding love. Will she really want to go back?
