A Twin Canterlots story—first in the Brass Ring series

If it had been just the prosthetic right arm, Rose Brass might have been certified fit for duty—but when the docs also concluded her left eye couldn’t be saved, that was that. The army captain found herself down-checked and retired to the permanent disability list. Without any other direction, she moved back to the city where she’d grown up. Now, thanks to the kindness of strangers, she’s washed up at the doors of an organization dedicated to assisting veterans just like her.

Rose visits VSCC some fourteen years before “Rainbow Rocks”—about twelve and a half years before MLPFIM begins.

A Twin Canterlots anthology—first of The Campus series.

So much can happen in fifteen years. Seven young women proceed through university and start out on careers. An unlikely new ruler and a council of friends grow into their roles. Both ends of a magical portal that connects two worlds are uprooted and moved, as carefully as mature trees, to new locations. One is in a wing of the rebuilt Ceremonial Palace, made over for the purpose. The other is on the Campus.

Background and an information packet are available.

Hit “Popular Stories” and (briefly) the featured box the day after publication! Holy moley! :pinkiegasp:

Warning tags refer to scenes of warfare written for a teen audience.

Sunset paused on the high balcony of Princess Twilight’s empty tower, catching her breath after all those stairs. Everypony was away setting up the Friendship Festival; the journal had been buzzing almost constantly with Twilight’s hastily scribbled one-line updates, ecstatic and anxious—until a couple of hours ago. The longer the sudden silence lasted, the more concerned Sunset became, until she hopped through the portal to see what was up. Her alicorn glowed as she fiddled Twi’s telescope into position for a look at the distant city clinging to the mountainside.

Canterlot was burning.

Takes place after CHS graduation—between seasons seven and eight.

A Twin Canterlots story—first in the Cook’s Tour series

A Twin Canterlots story—second in the Brass Ring series

Warning tag refers to an attempt described in general terms.

Rose Brass, retired army captain, has found a second career as a youth social worker. She gets the hard cases, in both senses of the word. She has a tough attitude, experience, and a security clearance. Naturally she’s the perfect choice to deal with three broken teenage girls who used to be powerful magical creatures from another dimension.

KwirkyJ wrote a couple of lovely little vignettes inspired by this story.

Begins about eight months after “Through the Mirror” and two months after “Rainbow Rocks”—the middle of season five.

A Twin Canterlots story—last in Cook’s Tour; followed by Virga

Cook, that’s the fanciest—and stuffiest—restaurant around here!” Sunset looked and sounded aghast. “What’ll I wear?”
I let my eyebrows rise. “This from one of the girls who magic up spiffy new ensembles every few weeks?”
By rights her glare should have reduced me to cinders. “That’s different and you know it. This isn’t even like a Rainbooms gig, where I can get away with something outrageous. Whatever it is must be pretty serious or you wouldn’t be so insistent—and evasive; don’t think I haven’t noticed.”
When I simply shrugged, she sighed in resignation. “Fine. I’ll talk to Rarity and see what we can come up with on my pitiful budget.”

Takes place during winter break of senior year—middle of season 6.

A Twin Canterlots anthology—first in the Lectern’s Books series

It’s good to find new hang-outs and not see the same old places constantly. Sci-Twi suggests Lectern’s New and Used Books—a pretty nice place with a pretty nice owner. It even has a front room and a back patio set up to hang out in.

Interior plans and pictorial views of the store and its lot are available.

Set during the summer vacation between the girls’ junior and senior years at CHS—latter half of season five.
