Congratulations on choosing this, the first edition of A Brief History of Equestria!

For far to long, the vitally important role of educating our foals of the history of our nation has been delegated to Folk Lore and word of mouth, while the realities of the past have been documented, stored and educated only to the elite. It is therefore the intent of myself, the Royal Historical Society, and the Royal Ministry of Education to provide the common pony with access to a document that offers as full a history of Equestria as can be practically provided, which is the tome you now hold in your hooves.

Keep in mind that no single book cannot replace a properly structured and scheduled classroom on the subject, and while an Encyclopedia format would give a much more comprehensive narrative, the copious amounts of information would render the exercise counter-productive. As such, this book can only give what amounts to a summary of an abridged version at best. It is my hope that everypony who reads this gains an insatiable thirst for more. Hopefully with further editions, more knowledge can be included, along with a collection of tie-in texts that focus more closely on specific areas of interest.

In every event, there are a million offshoots and effects, none really able to be fit into a normal narrative. Here is a collection of one-shots and mini-arcs spun out of The Elements of Harmony and the Savior of Worlds, so knowledge of that series will help immensely. Although I will do my best to make it as accessible as possible.

NOTE!:
All side-stories so far take place after the end of The Elements of Harmony and the Savior of Worlds.
The cast will be varied, as will be the stories, but all are canon.

Chapter One: A Picnic by the Lake: Celestia, Luna and Twilight entertain a guest who is more than meets the eye.
Chapter Two: Time Enough for All: The Doctor has spent nearly nine hundred years in Equestria, most it an extended vacation. But news of giants in Ponyville draw him out of semi-retirement.
Chapter Three: Contact Part One: Old Memories: Chip delivers the Princess' message to President Abernathy, which stirs old memories.
Chapter Four: Contact Part Two: Meetings and Greetings: Equestria makes formal contact with Earth, and an old mystery is finally put to rest.
Chapter Five: Family reunion Part One: The Best of intentions: Dinky sets out to reunite her father with his closest friends, roping her sister and the rest of the Cutie Mark Crusaders on a journey across time and space.
Chapter Six: Family Reunion Part Two: Memories: The TARDIS arrives at Earth, reuniting the Doctor with his past.
Chapter Seven: Shape up or Slaughter Out!: Shining Armor gets some help from an old warhorse to finish what he started with the Royal Guard.
Chapter Eight: How Christmas was Saved... Sort of: A short tale of how Santa Claus was saved one Christmas Or Megan had too much eggnog.

Equestria has been at peace for the past Five Hundred years, due to the strong Rule of Prime Celest. Birthed from the Hive Turtle Brom and gifted with the soul of the Sun. Wielding her immense power, Celest has brokered peace through force with Equestria's potential enemies. Her beloved student, Twilight sparkle has been with the Prime her entire life and her feelings have slowly shifted through time. One day before the Summer Sunset Celebration, Twilight is gifted an old book. One telling a much different history then she'd believed.

Celest-Tia? Nightmare moon? Two rulers of Equestria?

Now everything that Twilight Sparkle is forced to call everything she thought about her Solar Princess into question as a new threat to Equestria looms over the horizon. Now Twilight has to race the clock to perhaps Save the Lost Princess of Equestria before Celest can destroy the only link to her own forgotten past.

For many years, citizens of Equestria have lived in peace and happiness, protected by the princesses and the bearers of Elements of Harmony; but soon, everything will change. This time there are no villains or unspeakable dangers; there's just war, hate, and ponies giving and taking lives. From the streets of Detrot to the Royal Palace in Canterlot, each pony will rise up against his fellow pony, and one of them will not rise up to see another day.
