Throughout her time at Crystal Prep, Twilight Sparkle had been ignored or scorned by her jealous and well-to-do classmates. She could only rely on her pet dog Spike for companionship.

The Friendship Games, once a way to bring the two schools together, devolved into a cutthroat competition for glory. A competition Principal Abacus Cinch sought to win, even if it meant blackmailing her top student.

Seeking to distract herself from her loneliness, Sparkle sought to study the magic of Canterlot High School. Her experiments, however, wreaked havoc on the games, and brought her the scorn of Sunset Shimmer, who saw the human Twilight as a dangerous nuisance.

In a last-ditch effort at victory, Cinch and the Shadowbolts pushed Twilight into unleashing the magical energies she had collected.

But in their attempt to abuse a force they did not understand, the Shadowbolts unwittingly caused tragedy. But through this tragedy, will the Shadowbolts and others come to understand the value of a single human being? And will Sunset overcome her grief and try to prevent another one?

After my dad was arrested, I was sent to Canterlot to move in with my biological mother, who my dad told me died. Now I'm going to her high school and dealing with a group of annoying students and one adorable nerd.

On this night, Twilight Sparkle's life will change forever. And so will Sunset Shimmer's.

Before that can happen, though, both must grapple with what has already occurred that day. As Sunset wrestles with guilt over driving Twilight away -- and losing a critical chance to get back her friends' magic in the process -- Twilight herself struggles over the harm she knows she's caused, and if she can possibly hope to fix it.

Fortunately for Sunset Shimmer, she has a close friend to help her work through it.

Unfortunately for Twilight Sparkle, she has Principal Cinch.

The consequences of each will reverberate through the entire night -- and once it's over, Sunset and Twilight will be left to figure out what comes next.

Starlight Glimmer (or at least the human Starlight Glimmer) was defeated and offered a second chance the same way her counterpart was. But just like her counterpart, Starlight is reeling from the regret of everything she did, made even worse since she’s a teenage girl still recovering from the highs magical corruption brought her to.

After Starlight flakes on meeting up with Sunset and her friends one day, Sunset makes her way to Starlights home and forces a talk between the two of them to figure what’s going on with her, talk things out, and perhaps... becoming something more?
