When Twilight Sparkle was just a kid, her best friend was a girl named Sunset Shimmer. Though their friendship had a bit of a rocky start, they quickly became inseparable, no matter how much everyone thought of them as ‘weird’. They were there for each other.

Years after the tragic accident that tore them apart, Twilight is determined to move on from her loss, and she sets off on an independent research project to investigate the strange happenings at Canterlot High. Little does she know that she will soon come face to face with what appears to be a literal ghost from her past.

Sunset Shimmer didn't really like that stupid pegasus to begin with, and her distaste for her only grew after the day of Mi Amore Cadenza's coronation. That crown was supposed to be hers. Instead, it went to the stupid Princess of Love. Now, Celestia has arranged for Cadence to stay in Canterlot with Sunset, and encourages the two of them to become friends. But with Sunset's dour attitude, and her constant bullying, will the two ever become close?

While tearfully repairing the wall she destroyed, Sunset Shimmer can't help but reflect on what a horrible person she is. Convinced she'll never be forgiven by her peers, and unsure if she's even worthy of it, she's visited in the night by one of the last people she expected.

Still up late at night with her love sleeping by her side, Sunset reflects back on everything she and her fiancée have went through since the time they began going out with eachother.

A few hours after saving the Friendship Games, Sunset Shimmer and her good friend Twilight Sparkle are relaxing on the CHS lawn. The two are so close that Sunset finally feels like she can ask a question that's been on her mind for a while.

"Can I go home?"

In a fight against lord Sombra, a friend heroically sacrifices herself to save Twilight, however will the young girl tell Twilight her feelings before it's too late?

A single word appeared in Sunset Shimmers journal. Help. A simple word with a complicated meaning. She knew Princess Twilight was in trouble. The only way to find out what happened, the one thing she avoided for so many moons, can only be her return to Equestria.

The Holy Grail War, an ancient ritual in which Magi summon ancient Heroic Spirits in order to compete for an omnipotent wishing device. Every 60 years, 7 Masters are chosen by the grail to compete, and in Canterlot the 4th Holy Grail War is about to begin.

When Twilight Sparkle was a child, the only thing she wanted to do was become a great Magus that her parents could be proud of. However, after a traumatizing incident, she finds her magic circuits trashed and her body severely weakened. Now living alone in Canterlot City as the current head of the Sparkle family, Twilight struggles to learn what magic she can without her body destroying itself in the process.

Wanting to just live a quiet, peaceful life, Twilight was going to stay out of the Holy Grail War. However, when the circumstances surrounding her drag her into the flames of war by force, she must decide if she will stand and fight, or run to safety. With the help of her childhood friend and a powerful Servant at her side, the Grail War might just be survivable.
