It's through striving for a balance between the author's intention and the readers' needs that a translator can obtain their creative freedom in an otherwise somewhat uncreative job. —Me

In the middle of 2022, the Iceland Tourism Board created a system whereby people could have their emails answered by an actual Icelandic pony.

Flim and Flam saw a business opportunity, and jumped on it. So what if it was blatant copyright infringement; so what if their internet connection wasn't entirely legit? People would pay to have an equine answer emails, and they had access to lots of equines.

Some of them could even read.

Based on a true story.

Having a regular menu and deliveries of frozen, pre-diced vegetables once a week is boring. Going to the farmer's market every day after work and finding discounted food that will be otherwise thrown away, and then making a delicious dish out of it? That's a challenge that Parsnip can get behind.

There's no menu, and she sells out every day.

This story is a sequel to Looking Glass

The holiday season rolls around, bringing changes in Sunset Shimmer's life. Although she's never been very festive, it is her first holiday with friends, and Sunset wants to make the most of it. But along with new experiences, old memories of a burning cold lake threaten to overwhelm her and her fragile new friendship with Applejack.

(Takes place before Rainbow Rocks.)

A story set in the Who We Become series.

This story was workshopped in my Discord server in a mad dash to make something for the holidays, but then I couldn't get it written in time, which is why it's coming out in January :pinkiecrazy:
Thanks go out to Krixwell, applejackofalltrades, and Sapphire for proofreading.

Sunset always knew that she was destined for greatness, but she never dreamed of how great she could become. Not until she had seen it – the mirror had shown her as an alicorn. Ignoring Celestia’s warnings, Sunset goes looking for answers.

When she learns that the mirror is also a portal to another world, well, what else was she supposed to do? But it seems that she hadn’t considered every possibility. She hadn’t, for example, considered that she might get herself trapped on the other side. Nor did she think she’d find herself transformed into a child again.

(Also available in print (temporarily out of stock), as an audiobook, and in Russian!)

A story set in the Who We Become series (earliest story, so a great starting point :raritywink:)

Many muches of thanks go out to ArchAngelsWings, Dessert, Mind Jack, Pasu-Chan,
CharCharChan, w_brown7, and eton975 for proofreading.

Magic is real, and Derek is on the verge of unlocking its secrets. It doesn't matter that his best friend doesn't believe any of it, he'll still go along to his first real spell. Unfortunately for the two of them, the magic works a little too well.

Soon they're taken to a strange new world of supernatural horses, a world where intrigue and spellcraft are interwoven to an inescapable prison. An mysterious cult dedicated to the worship of the ancient Alicorns has finally brought two of the ancients back from banishment. Their spell didn't quite work out; they definitely expected the Old Gods to be a little... older.

If the two former humans want to have any hope of seeing their old world and old bodies again, they'll have to make quite an impression to their secret worshipers, or else find themselves at the mercy of the same Alicorn sisters who took over Equestria all those centuries ago.

That's only where their problems start. Growing up as a little pony in a town like Willowbrook might be the greatest challenge they've ever faced.

When Nightmare Moon’s rebellion tore across Equestria, leaving a trail of blood and horror in its wake, Princess Celestia knew that merely banishing her sister wouldn’t be enough. Her army was too powerful, and too bloodthirsty, to be left behind without a leader. When she finally turned the Elements of Harmony against her, she didn’t just banish Nightmare Moon. She banished thousands.

Now they’re in a race against time, to find a way to survive in an environment so alien that every aspect of it is trying to kill them. They face suffocation, freezing, boiling, starvation, radiation, meteorite impacts, low gravity… the list goes on.

Nightmare Moon thought she should be the ruler of all Equestria. Now, in a world nopony was ever meant to survive, her abilities will be put to the ultimate test.

Note: I intend this story to be as faithful to our current scientific understanding of the moon, and I’ve consulted for help with the aspects outside my technical purview. That said, I fully expect to make decisions that some may see as mistakes, based on their own independent interpretations.

I am a storyteller first, and I realize it’s likely I’ll eventually make a mistake, or an arbitrary decision to simplify the storytelling over accuracy. I’m doing my best here, but this isn’t a NASA white paper. Set your expectations accordingly.

Mother sky mushrooms grow in just a few remote peaks of the Eastern Stonewood Mountains. For the monks whose subsistence and religion is built on these mushrooms, they offer far more than just a profound psychedelic experience. Eating the fruit of the mountain is said to give earth ponies super strength, future sight, and the ability to fly.

But the monks aren't the only ones interested in mother sky's power. A pegasus republic gathers strength in the west, rallying around the exploits of a ruthless general and a scheming senator. With the Stonewood mountains in their sights, the two tribes spiral towards an inevitable and horrific war.

Hypha, a young acolyte, aspires to learn the secrets of mother sky's magic and become a full-fledged monk. When tragedy strikes and his world explodes into violence, can Hypha save the secrets of mother sky's near-unlimited power from the hooves of those who would use it for evil?

Lucid Storm imagines a world beyond death, where no pony will ever need to truly say goodbye to the ones they love. When all the magic and medicine of Equestria failed one young Sweetie Belle, he proposed a radical new technique--total brain recording, taken minutes before her death.

Years have passed since that day, years spent scrounging the funding for a body and experimenting with many failed machine intelligence models before tinkerer ponies all around equestria finally came together in the perfect synthesis.

After all this time, Sweetie Belle will finally have her second chance.

This story is a sequel to Crystals & Chitin

Having left behind a past that she's not interested in sharing, DaCapo Aria moved to Las Pegasus with little more than determination and a few dozen bits.

Aspiring to become a famous vocalist, she discovers the less-than-glamorous truth about the vacation city of lights, laughter, and dreams. Sometimes those dreams become nightmares... and sometimes what fails in Pegasus stays in Pegasus, whether they like it or not.

Undaunted, the talented lounge singer must find a way to survive among the down-and-out denizens of the town built-up below the city of lights long enough to catch her big break, move out of the shadows and into the clouds, where the real stars shine.

While this is a sequel to Crystals & Chitin, it is not necessary to have read it first.
